Review: Alternative, goth and pop rock band HIM are one of the most creative and strongest bands to come out of Finland. Tears On Tape was their eighth and final album from the band whose career covered nearly 25 years. Originally released in 2013, this is the first reissue and fans of the band are celebrating that this will also be its' very first time on vinyl. Green vinyl that matches the artwork as well is a nice touch. Experience some of the last key tracks from this ground breaking band like 'All Lips Go Blue', 'Into the Night' and the title song 'Tears On Tape. Come experience a celebration of the band's final full length.

Review: Holsten makes a fine impression here with his debut EP on Rupture LDN. It's a drum & bass excursion that operates at the darker and menacing end of the spectrum and opens with the eerie bell hits of 'All Talk' (feat Overlook). Thrilling breaks soon take over as the turbulence synths grow ever more wild and 'Stallion' then mixes up fizzing synth chaos with tight, kinetic drum programming. On the B-side, 'Understand' is another tough drum workout with haunting pads, and 'One Step Closer' shuts down with withering sci-fi motifs and a seriously wobbly low end.

Review: Having taken time out to travel the world and experience new things (including psychedelic substances in California), John Hopkins planned to make Singularity, his ninth album, "a sonic ecosystem that starts and ends on the same note". He soon got frustrated by these limitations, so instead just laid down a fluid and hazy album that combines his usual luscious, ambient electronics with a variety of sparse, heavy and off-kilter rhythms. While undeniably laidback in parts, the album also boasts a number of foreboding techno workouts and uses a wider palette of instrumental sounds than we've come to expect (including some fine strings and his own intricate piano playing). The resultant set is rather impressive, all told, and while not quite a "sonic ecosystem", it's certainly an enjoyable journey.

Review: Hornsey Hardcore is but one outlet for the prolific cult legend Jerome Hill, but at least you know exactly what you're going to get from these records. Bringing the breakthrough sounds of 1992-1994 into the modern age, Hill manages to maintain the clattering roughness of the OG material while adding in the benefit of modern mixing to make these tracks smack you upside the head in ways the old stuff can only dream of. Just drop in on the manic roll of 'Asylum' and you'll hear all you need to as the off key orchestra stabs and 'Bombscare' break create a five-minute pile-up with enough samples about insanity send a suitably grubby rave into sheer bedlam.

Review: Tides is the latest album from Hybrid Minds, whose efforts have landed him at the forefront of the contemporary pop/drum & bass race of late. Hot off the heels of an initial LP release, this CD edition of Tides tops up the album's format-ography. The album sounds as huge on optical-digital as it does analogue; every track is effortless in its glossy command of space and bursting vocal synergy, calling attention to Hybrid Minds' collaboration-heavy approach to creation (every track bar one is a feature track, the best of which include Tom Walker, Grimm and Charlotte Plank).

IK Multimedia introduces the iRigr Pro Duo I/O, an enhanced, ultra-compact 2-channel audio/MIDI interface that enables high-quality recording on the go with iPhone, iPad, Android devices and Mac/PC. Designed for musicians, podcasters and other content creators, it can accommodate a variety of input sources including microphones, MIDI controllers, line-level and high-impedance instruments such as guitars, basses and keyboards, and more. It can also be used as a MIDI interface.

A sequel to IK's acclaimed iRig Pro Duo, the new iRig Pro Duo I/O features updated mic preamps with increased gain, as well as the addition of a USB-C cable to work with all of today's latest devices and new, dedicated PC drivers to ensure optimal performance on laptops and Surface tablets. In addition, refined volume controls with level indicators for more convenient workflow and a new rubberised finish to better stand up to the road, offer the same standard of quality customers have enjoyed from IK's award-winning iRig Pro I/O single-channel interface.

Recording capabilities
Two analogue combo inputs (1/4" / XLR) are provided for connecting and simultaneously recording any combination of dynamic and condenser microphones and instruments (line level or Hi-Z). They are complemented by Class-A preamps, adjustable gain and 48V phantom power. Each channel has its own input gain control for dialling in the perfect amount of input signal for a particular recording.

iRig Pro Duo I/O can also be used as a MIDI interface via MIDI input and output connectors and included breakout cables. Additional connections include two balanced 14" outputs and headphone output.

A direct monitor switch provides latency-free monitoring of direct incoming signal for use with video or streaming apps, or lets users monitor the processed signal returning from their device when recording music or using audio processing apps.

Out-of-the-box performance
iRig Pro Duo I/O runs on USB bus power or 2 AA batteries (or an optional PSU), and includes Lightning, USB-A and USB-C cables to work with any device right out of the box.

Although compatible with any app designed for high-quality digital audio input for recording or creation, iRig Pro Duo I/O comes with free access to over $/€500 of IK software, apps, and in-app material, making it an all-in-one package with everything needed to record, edit, and share great music, podcasts, interviews and more.

Device Loopback

This option routes the audio output of your digital device (iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac or PC) back into iRig Stream Pro to be mixed in with the other audio signals. This is perfect to jam or sing along with backing tracks, or process audio on one app and stream to another, all on a single device.

Each input has its own independent volume control and is then mixed down to your choice of stereo or 4 channels to stream, process or record into all your favourite apps.

Stereo or multichannel? You get both!

iRig Stream Pro offers 2 modes: stereo or multichannel. By default, iRig Stream Pro operates in stereo mode and pre-mixes multiple sources of audio (RCA stereo inputs (+ Loopback), XLR / 1/4" combo input and TRRS microphone) down to a stereo track, which is sent to your choice of streaming apps like Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, etc.

Switching to multichannel mode, the combo and TRRS inputs are routed to channels 3 and 4 respectively giving you 4 channels of audio to send to recording apps such as GarageBand or your favourite DAW.

Review: We aren't sure who Inner Space Quartet are be we are sure you will like them. This is the second new music from them this month and it follows a busy 2022 in which they put out three head-turning 7"s on different labels. They seem to be settling for Funk Night as their home this year but soundwise are harder to pin down - there is Thai funk, space rock, jazz, psyched-out guitars and much more all contained with these two expansive and immersive sounds. 'Paranoia Party' is the really 60s-tinged narcotic opener then 'Delay' brings more rock guitar sounds as if from some secret and tripped-out Stones concert in the desert back in the day.
