Step 2001 (3:24)
Step 2001 (instrumental) (3:26)
Review: YES! We'd been waiting on this collaboration from UK start vocalist Wiley and shadowy electronic pioneer Zomby for a long time now, and it's about time it's landed on our shelves. "Step 2001" is a straight-up grime piece, a clicking, twisted groove made up of darting hi-hats and pacman sounds; you know when they say "they don't make them like they used to!"? Well, this doesn't apply here, as it's a serious head-dive back into the early noughties scene. There's also an instrumental version for maximum damage.

Unmistakable (3:31)
Review: Oh boy! Three of modern bass music's finest players collide for the first in a series of collaborative long players on Deep Medi. The results - as you'd expect just reading the line-up - speak for themselves. Every artist's signatures is coded deep into the collection; Kahn's unpredictability and robustness, Commodo's grit and funk and Gantz often unfathomable depths and eastern twangs are all present as we wriggle and writhe to the detuned harmonies of "Crystal Collect", get twisted on the tripped out drum dynamic of "Kibosh" and lose ourselves in the spacious jazz-minded drums of "Unmistakeable". Truly unique.

R2D6 (5:01)
Second Home (5:09)
Review: Shout out to Kromestar: he's taken some of C3P0's snidiest, critical comments and laid them down over a classic R2D2 bleep-funk groove. Not just designed to make you shake, but also makes you realise just how much bitterness and outright bullying R2D2 had to take off his self-imposed senior throughout the Star Wars legacy. "Second Home" switches the sci-fi satire for a straight-up outer planetary trip thanks to its humming pads, soaring synths and an overall star-gazing vibe.

Zim Zim Zim (feat Burro Banton) (4:32)
Zim Zim Zim (Zim version) (4:35)
Review: After last year saw Kevin Martin's primary project looming large with the Angels & Devils album and a slew of singles, The Bug is back on Ninja Tune with a new single. "Zim Zim Zim" features seasoned dancehall MC Burro Banton raining down vocal fire over a typically grandiose Martin production, all slow, heavy-footed stomp and strangely emotive slabs of grinding metallic synth tones that sound like the end of the world bursting out of the speakers. Banton's nagging delivery sits perfectly on the track, but for those that want to home in on the subtleties of the production the "Version" provides all the space you need for those staggering sounds to roam.

7.5 (6:24)
Cargo (3:42)
Oculus Rift (3:48)
Review: Deep space dub laced with toxic levels of funk: Foamplate makes his official debut with three really refreshing twists on contemporary bass. With its faraway flutes, squid bass and heavily textured rim shots, "7.5" is so out-there and wonky, you could imagine Roots Manuva spitting on it with ease. "Cargo" ups the spacious ante even further as prominent drum elements echo and shimmer over a stealthy sub. "Oculus Rift" brings us back to the woodwind flavours but with more of an eastern twang and cosmic feel. Essential listening: Each cut sounds like nothing else around right now.
