Grindr (7:24)
Creature (6:58)
Review: Part six in Richie Hawtin's new 'white label' vinyl only series sees him revisiting his roots as Plastikman and even creating new aliases, such as this one. 80XX sees Hawtin exploring the capabilities on the new Roland AIRA series of equipment, mainly the TR-8. A side track "Grindr" sees Hawtin doing some droney and hypnotic acid techno reminiscent of the F.U.S.E. and Circuit Breaker days, who incidentally have been revisited on this project as well, on previous volumes. B side track "Creature" is a more high-octane version that works the acid sensibilities to their full potential like only Hawtin can, with some more ferocity in the rhythm too. There's some sick reverse sequencing in the breakdown, an old Detroit production trick we haven't heard in quite a while!

One Last Shot (5:04)
Sky (rough mix) (5:47)
Richard's Revenge (6:56)
Review: Italy's Raw MT popped up on our radars ever since his debut on Wicked Bass in 2013, not only because of Greg Beato's remix of his original, but also because we were like: "Whose this dude from Italy!? We dig!". Since then, he's been back on Wicked Bass, but it's time for his appearance on London's Lobster Theremin, giving us some much needed dust-house, as only they can provide. "One Last Shot" is deep, ethereal and rigged in texture, but "Sky (rough mix)" quickly ups the tempo and drops in some much needed acid squeal to please the heads. Side B, "Richard's Revenge" is brooding, spectral and hypnotic, taking Raw MT into a direction we weren't expecting, and one that we very much like.

End Local (5:23)
Variant (5:48)
Inequality (5:00)
Phase 1 (5:33)
Review: Barcelona's Cardopusher has released on a wide variety of imprints ever since his production debuts for the likes of Damage and London's mighty Hyperdub, so much so that it even allowed him to release an album in 2015 for Boysnoize Records. This week, he's up on Super Rhythm Trax - home to a vast array of jacking house beats - and his starter for ten is the 303-laden beast in the name of "End Local", a monster that is quickly followed by the heavy-bottomed, Trax-fuelled "Variant". On the flip, "Inequality" sticks to the acid, but the mood is lighter, less murky and full o' jack, whereas "Phase 1" slithers and winds its bass bot through slicing darts of percussion. For the DJ's...

Close (15:57)
Them (8:29)
Review: When a hand-stamped Plus8 record - the legendary Canadian techno imprint's first vinyl outing since 2012 - arrived in stores last month, it naturally set tongues wagging. While there was no artist credit, it bore all the hallmarks of Richie Hawtin's stripped-back, drum-machine driven outings under the Plastikman alias. This speedy follow-up comes from a similar place, aesthetically, and sounds like a pair of recently unearthed 808-and-909 jams from the early '90s. Both "Purrkusiv" and "Gymnastik" are deliciously percussive, offering little more than expertly programmed percussion and heavy, woozy basslines. Hawtin, if it is he, has always been able to create gold out of a handful of rhythmic elements, and both tracks fall into this category.

Spurned My Colour (5:15)
Beak (4:04)
Stoned Bird (3:50)
Review: Given the undoubted quality of Howard Williams' first release for Berceuse Heroique under the Japan Blues moniker - the superb Brasserie Heroique Edits Volume 2 - you'd expect this second 12" for Kemal's imprint to be equally inspired. It is, of course, with Williams' digging deep in his near bottomless crates of obscure Japanese releases for inspiration. He begins with "Spurned My Colour", a delightfully jaunty and cheery fusion of chiming synthesizer melodies, broken electro drums and sampled vocal stabs. He goes dense and tribal on "Stoned Bird", brilliantly cutting up, manipulating and rearranging a killer, African-inspired percussion track. As for closer "Beak", it expertly joins the dots between wonky, undulating live percussion and the weighty pulse of contemporary techno, via some thrilling backwards drum hits.

Better Play With My Balls (4:57)
Two Steps Back (4:13)
Centre Of Mass (6:03)
Take Your Time (6:41)
Review: The new master of hypnotic techno returns. Tolkachev presents us with four chapters of entrancing futurism on the Hesitation EP and the track titles are as baffling as always. Take "Better Play With My Balls" for instance, with its cyclical minimalism that bleeps away repetitively like something from Robert Hood's Minimal Nation: it's that good! "Two Steps Back" gets darker and serious; a tunnelling epic that introduces a peak time transition just perfectly. On the flip "Centre Of Mess" is classic Tolkachev, with its aggressively bouncing 808 kick and grating analogue synth arpeggios that lock you into a trance instantly. Finally and as always, there's the token experimental track on an S.T. Release and this time it's in the form of "Take Your Time" which squeals and squelches away hysterically with its analogue chime sounds, sounding like Jeff Mills if he wandered into Axis HQ on acid. Tip!

Into The Silly World (5:29)
Imaginarium Essai (6:05)
Zex Plongeon (4:55)
Louis & Juno (4:51)
Review: You could never accuse Parisian artist Coni of releasing too much music; to date, the ClekClekBoom-affiliated artist has released just three EPs in four years. Clearly, these releases have impressed The Trilogy Tapes founder Will Bankhead, as he's snapped-up a four-track EP from the talented French producer. It's the A-side that sparkles the most immediately, beginning with the curious looped sound effects, slashed jazz chords, swinging rhythms and bubbling electronic hits of "Into The Silly World". Arguably even better is "Zex Plongeon". While not as thrillingly unusual as its' predecessor, it feels more obviously tailored to club play. It's creepy, deep, drowsy and tense, with slowly pulsing chords and ghostly textures stretching out over a tidy techno groove.

Uberall Polizei, Nirgendwo Gerechtigkeit (8:21)
Kriegdienstverweigerer (6:13)
Unify (6:06)
Review: Since launching in 2014, Pinkman offshoot Charlois has been responsible for a range of weird, wonderful and decidedly left-of-centre records from the likes of Dollkraut, Roberto Auser and Timothy J Fairplay. Their latest release comes from Nick Lapier's Metropolis, a project inspired by the stylish darkness of film noir. All three tracks fit this brief, with opener "Uberall Polizei, Nirgrendwo Gerechtigkeit" offering a deliciously spooky, evocative trip into Nitzer Ebb style EBM territory. "Kriegdienstverweigerer" (try saying that while drunk) has a similar ethos, though feels more immediately floor-friendly thanks to techno-style rhythm patterns and bolder synth riffs. Finally, "Unify" is a bit closer in feel to the psychedelic, weirdly exotic early '90s work of Psychic Warriors Ov Gaia, and "Brown Album"-era Orbital.

Yoshi & Saverio Celestri - "No Time For School" (7:22)
Saverio Celestri - "Dangerous" (5:32)
Yoshi - "Not An Ordinary Place" (6:37)
SBRI - "The Other Side" (5:17)
Review: Although this is credited as being Libertine's first official release, the label has already put out one record, a sort of white label to introduce the crew and the sound. Yoshi, Saverio Celestri and SBRi all featured on number 00, and the boys are back to inaugurate the label properly four back-to-basics house/techno hybrids. Yoshi and Celestri team up for the opener "No Time For School", a lo-fi, head-strong house bomb with a masterfully swelling baseline, while Celeste goes solo on the murky and mystical cut that is "Dangerous". On the flipside, Yoshi is back with the grainy pseudo electro of "Not An Ordinary Place" - perhaps the EP's finest moment - and SBRi drops some squelching truth all over the techno of "The Other Side". All in all, a fine EP, and a warmly recommended new addition to the contemporary house game.

Outlines (5:34)
Rainbow (4:56)
Machine (5:00)
Choral (5:39)
Review: Over the last few years, Dario and Marco Zenker's excellent Ilian Tape has given us some of the purest and most bold-faced techno around. The label has built up a solid reputation as being all about the music, minus the hype, and Italy's Andrea has been there at the forefront of their growth. The Turin-based producer returns to the moody imprint with his third EP for the label, led by the thumping, hypnotic swings of "Outlines" - containing possibly the best kick drums we've heard since Head High - and the break-ridden journey that is "Rainbow", on the A-side. The flip sees "Machine" enter a no nonsense mode, where a fast percussive groove locks tightly within a sea of intergalactic pads, and dubby, broken pastures on "Choral". All in all, this is a fine selection of wild, dare-to-be-different dancefloor tracks that span many styles and influences. Tip!

Beyond Desire (7:10)
Solvent (6:58)
Review: London based producer Romek Boyer aka Rommek follows up releases on Weekend Circuit and Sonntag Morgen with a Berghain ready and absolute killer for James Ruskin's Blueprint. He wastes no time getting down to business on "Moth Hole", a pulverizing peak time monster with industrial strength groove, bleepy sonar aesthetics and massive menacing pads: sold yet? "Boiling Point" or "Solvent" are high octane peak time journeys in the vein of Rodhad or Post Scriptum; proper futurist groove assault! On the flip we have 'Beyond Desire", probably the most restrained effort on here. It's a dark and brooding, body bashing modern industrial workout that fans of AnD or Killawatt will appreciate.

Circus (8:34)
Akrobatix (6:09)
Review: He's back; the Detroit techno innovator comes back to where it all began. Way before all the main room minimal, the haircuts, the Cube etc. Plastikman was Hawtin's alias for minimalist 303 and 909 experiments which created some of the most seminal techno tracks of all time. Part five of his ongoing vinyl series shows that Plastikman is still very much active and still plotting some reductionist experiments in psychedelia. On the A side "Circus" works that TR-8 like a you know what; the boom and bounce of the kick supports some seriously tripped out high-hat sequences and snare rolls rinsed through trademark Hawtin delays in this loopy and hypnotic jam. On the B side is "Akrobatix" which sounds very similar to the A side but is a more restrained version, working more with the droning atmosphere and driving bassline, keeping the rhythmic gymnastics to a minimum.

Din (2:55)
Review: Earlier in 2015, Samuel Van Dijk once again donned the VC-118A guise to deliver arguably his strongest release to date, Propulse on Tabernacle Records. Happily, B76 Over Land maintains a similar standard, with Van Dijk serving up a pleasingly cold batch of machine jams. Highlights include the fuzzy, cowbell-heavy Rotterdam electro of "Vapor", the skittering techno drone of "Vex", and the frankly wayward, dark ambience of closer "Din". That said, we're also fans of the superb title track, which expertly combines fluid, watery melodies and drifting chords with clattering, mechanical percussion.

Fear Without Consequences (5:59)
Mind The Gap (6:17)
Review: Nope, we've never heard of Peeping Tom, either. While this marks the pseudonym's first appearance, the man behind it - Conforce, Silent Harbor and Versalife man Boris Bunnik - has been an integral part of the Dutch electronic underground for longer than anyone can remember. Despite the slightly dark title, Voyerurism & Violence is a fairly cheery affair, with Bunnik effortlessly joining the dots between the melodiousness of British "intelligent techno", the punchy rhythms of classic electro, and the underwater eccentricity of Drexciya. There's naturally much to admire, with the wayward alien funk of "Fear Without Consequences", and Legowelt-ish "Outraged Keyplayer" standing out.

Frontline (Robert Hood Re-Plant remix) (6:08)
Frontline (5:16)
Frontline (Ben Long & Oliver Way remix) (5:40)
Review: The ever-versatile Mark Broom returns to his own label for a storming techno release. The title track revolves around a high-paced acid pulse, with the smart use of filters making it sound even more frazzled. Robert Hood repays the favour to Broom for appearing on his M-Plant label by delivering a heavy, visceral take on the title track, with the Detroit producer's signature metallic riffing and cast iron beats to the fore. Of a bigger surprise is Ben Long and Oliver Way's remix; although it's a high octane affair, the groove is pulsing and surprisingly fluid. Adding to this unexpected turn is Ben Long's 'late night' mix, where the veteran UK producer lays down a hypnotic, ambient pulse.

Review: The third and final instalment of Jeff Mills Exhibitionist 2 series is a series of segments (much like his revered Live At The Liquid Room - Tokyo mix CD, released in 1996) from a live DJ performance in Leiden, Netherlands on 21st February 2015. What Mills set would be complete without "The Bells" (which appears on Part1), "Gamma Player" or one of his epic 909 drum machine solos (as heard on Part 4, to much fanfare). There's a whole bunch of other bleepy epics from the Purpose Maker/Axis back catalogue, all mixed with the kind of raw intensity that The Wizard himself can only portray. There's no doubt he's still one of the best in the business, and this one's definitely for the fans.

Review: This will be the first of three volumes of exclusive tracks taken from Time To Express main man Peter Van Hoesen's Stealth mix CD, released in 2015. First up he delivers a trippy and ethereal remix of Chris Madak aka Bee Mask's live performance of 'Headband' taken from a recording of the 2014 Labyrinth festival, which is said to have left Van Hoesen "dazed and enthralled". On the flip he delivers a hypnotic peak time killer with "Breach" that packs equal parts energy and atmosphere, which is by now the Belgian producer's trademark. Dimension (5:10)
Freestyle (6:07)
Review: A special release is with us here, and it actually feels quite difficult about how to introduce this record, given how excited we are about its arrival! In short, Diesel Boy is one of the legendary aliases of Kimmo Rapatti aka Mono Junk, and this comes courtesy of his own equally monumental Dum Records, Finland's best kept secret after the mighty Sahko label. Rapatti throws down to vicious techno works on one side, a charging acid stormer by the name of "Dimension", and a broken spawn-of-Satan jam called "Freestyle"; the latter being particularly amazing in our eyes. There is also a Mono Juno interpretation of "Dimension", this version being further stripped back and skeletal... Just how we like it. Excellent and recommended.

My Etherealrealness (6:12)
Phantom Trap (6:15)
Flying Saucer Review (7:48)
Review: Like the pitched-down grooves that have become his trademark, Timothy J Fairplay just keeps chugging along. Having opened his 2015 account with a tasty EP for the Netherlands' Charlois imprint, he returns to the same label with his first missive of 2016. Title track "My Etherealness" is a typically analogue-rich affair, with sharp, alien synthesizer lines and bold, repetitive riffs stretching themselves out across a cymbal-heavy drum machine groove. By his standards, it's almost anthem-like, and certainly more positive in outlook than many of his cuts. The darkness returns on the freaky, moody and delightfully ghostly "Phantom Trap", before he adds a bit of Dutch style electro-disco pump to the organ heavy madness of "Flying Saucer".
