SS1 (6:55)
Fearless (5:59)
Loveboxx (5:15)
Review: Deep house veteran Ramon Lisandro Quezada AKA DJ QU makes his debut for Giles Smith and James Priestley's Secretsundaze imprint with a fine EP of woozy, off-kilter house. "SS1" is rolling, hypnotic and trance-like in its' dedication to groove, with darting electronics and looped riffs riding a wonky, late night rhythm. "Fearless", on the other hand, is loose and trippy, all curious vocal samples and swirling strings. Finally, "Loveboxx" offers a dose of saucer-eyed late night fun via a pulsating bassline, cascading chords, delay-laden percussion and dusty, sun-baked melodies.

A Moment In Time (5:27)
A Moment In Time (Circular Rhythms mix) (6:59)
Review: Liverpool's Scenery Records has been making a real splash over the last 18 months, delivering the kind of top notch, analogue-heavy deep house gear that invites comparisons with the best labels from Vancouver, Washington D.C and New York. There's plenty more to cheer on this label debut from Liverpudlian producer Binny, not least the immersive melodiousness, dancing synthesizers and rhythmic hustle of "Retrospective". Chicago Skyway delivers two impeccable rubs of that track, with the second - a new-age techno stomper built around beautiful synthesizer arpeggios and drum machine cowbells - standing out. Flip for the glassy-eyed intelligent techno-meets-deep house thrills of "A Moment In Time", which is also given a pulsating acid techno makeover from Scenery veteran Circular Rhythms.

Vitamin K (2:50)
That's Where The Dog Is Buried (9:37)
All Night Vigil (6:04)
The Chance For Both Of Us (5:18)
Review: Ukrainian Stanislav Tolkachev has been a little quiet of late - by his productive standards, at least - so it's heartening to see him back in action, returning to M_Rec after a two-year absence. All Night Vigil is a varied affair, moving between the spiraling beatless electronics and cluttered, confused textures of "Vitamin K", the surging angular techno-funk of "That's Where The Dog Is Buried", and the discordant throb of "All Night Vigil", which seemingly utilizes the electronic motifs of the opener in a more dancefloor-centric setting. Best of all, though, is closer "The Chance For Both of Us", an unrelenting sprint through alien melodies, intense acid lines and unfeasibly heavy kick drums.

Final Battle (7:16)
Interaction (6:38)
Abandoned Places (6:20)
Review: Asok touches down on Holland's excellent MOS Deep label with another headstrong four-tracker primed and hand built for the dancefloor. "Future Wars", as the name suggests, is a forward-thinking acid chugger boasting a gorgeous collection of chords and pads, and "Final Battle" is a darker, heads-down kinda joint. Flip the plate and you have "Interaction", its banging kick drum dominating the groove among grizzly percussion shots, and the more lo-fi "Abandoned Places"... a true Chicago house nodder that'd sound just fine on Trax!

Review: Having previously starred on an unfeasibly large number of labels (including Rush Hour, Ovum, Liebe Detail and Burek), Kink adds another to the growing list. Cloud Generator marks his first appearance on Running Back, and contains, in the words of label boss Gerd Janson: "music for big rooms, wide eyes and small brains". In some ways, it's an apt description. Undeniably old skool in outlook, the EP's four main tracks variously doff a cap to vintage European techno (the blistering title track, which comes complete with many early '90s Belgian trademarks), hands-in-the-air, hardcore influenced techno (the saucer-eyed riffs and booming low end of "Diversion") and twinkling Balearic house ("Pocket Piano", which also gets a rave-era breakbeat re-touch).

Floorplan - "Ritual" (7:34)
Robert Hood - "Shaker" (6:36)
Review: British techno veterans Jonas Stone and Oliver Way have pulled off something of a coup here, not only by persuading Robert Hood to appear on their EPM Music imprint, but also by including a track from the Detroit legend's Floorplan alias (amazingly, Hood has previously kept the two projects entirely separate). Naturally, both tracks hit home hard. "Shaker" is prime Hood - an intoxicating, no-holds-barred techno looper built around a killer groove, foreboding chords and occasional vocal samples. On the Floorplan side, Hood reaches for the gospel organs, filtering and looping them up over a thunderous kick drum and typically relentless ride cymbals. As usual with Hood Floorplan material, there's enough soul in the machines to impress even the pickiest techno buyer.

Nuclear Winter (6:07)
Geiger Count (7:39)
Zero Point (9:11)
Review: Contest for Supremacy is DJ Spider and Marshallito's second release for Will Bankhead's label and features three quite mind boggling productions. If you lock into Rinse on the regular you should be familiar with lead cut "Nuclear Winter" which features their trademark sticky programming and bizarre vocal incantations before a midpoint deviation into the most delightful jazz piano breakdown and sampled African chants. The grubby beatdown of "Geiger Count" bristles with kinetic energy and sci fi overtones, just wait for the track to unravel as a voice utters "hello, I am from the planet Mars and I need help". B side hogger "Zero Point" is the nearest thing to a banger here and is rife with more unsettling, post-apocalyptic vocal samples.

Review: Noise Manifesto is a new creative endeavour from techno producer Paula Temple, less a label and more a "platform for electronic music artists that do not follow the distorted norms". The first release brings together the collective talents of rRoxymore, The Knife's Oni Ayhun, Planningtorock (as Aquarian Jugs) and Paula Temple as Jaguar Woman for Decon Recon #1, a four track 12" that smudges away traditional notions of artistic authorship. Instead of explicitly stating who did what on Decon Recon, the music is presented as a collective with no signifier, leaving you to enjoy the sounds unencumbered by prejudice or expectation. There's a wonderfully off kilter feeling running through all four tracks, as the traditional tropes of techno rub up against odd textural tones and weirded out strings. A fine start to the Noise Manifesto.

Check (7:36)
Losange (4:54)
Chaleur Tournante (5:26)
Review: Although he is primarily focused on his own label, Berliner Mike Dehnert is known on occasion to release for other imprints. Most notably, his The Many Roots on Deeply Rooted House is one of his most impressive and accomplished records. This three-track release for Danish operation Echocord is somewhat muted. It feels like after nearly a decade of dropping dark, dubby techno, Dehnert is enjoying some much-needed introspection. This manifests itself on the understated, rolling title track, but is more audible on "Losange". Like a stepping, spindly take on minimal, its stripped back rhythms are populated by husky vocal samples. Meanwhile, "Chaleur Tournante" is a return of sorts to Dehnert's sound, a dubby groover with that unmistakably insistent backing rhythm.

Review: The Early Sounds Collective imprint, led by Italy's Massimo Di Lena and Rio Padice, has been growing steadily over the last three years and the label has come a long way ever since their first release...an EP which we still regularly bang out here at Juno HQ. This time, however, it's the Mystic Jungle crew who return to EAS after their debut for the label last year - an EP which sold out in a day - with a comparatively harder sound. From "Pluto Snake" to "Vampire Mermaids", the beats are raw, gritty and infused in rolling sci-fi basslines with a distinctly squelching edge. These are underground house-techno hybrids for the warehouse rave...

Review: Dust is Jeanson Antonin's debut release on Token and arguably it's his most impressive release to date. Kr!z label has given him a double pack format to work with and it allows him the platform to express himself. At either end of the release there are two beautiful soundscapes; "Anna Livia" bathes in sensuous textures, while "Blue Note" features slow-motion beats underpinning shimmering melodies. In stark contrast, "Neter", "Astragal" and "Artefact" are tough, metallic bangers that recall the distorted stomp of Joey Beltram and Jeff Mills. However, it isn't just a release of extremes and "Prime Mover" sees Antigone bring a house groove to his tough metallic production.

Review: While establishing the Fit Sound imprint affiliated with the Detroit distro outlet of the same name , Aaron 'Fit' Siegel has been careful not to load the imprint with too many of his own productions, choosing instead to deliver material from Marcellus Pittman, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, MGUN and Dungeon Acid. Here he makes a welcome return with two tracks of melodious, atmospheric, Motor City deepness. "Carmine" is particularly alluring, with twinkling melodies winding their way around yearning pads, bittersweet chords and shuffling, cymbal-heavy percussion. "First Found" is a little more forthright, with off-key pianos and scattergun electronics riding a tougher, locked-in groove.

Soul Plonk (9:03)
Slippin (5:25)
Bona Feed (5:45)
Review: The Omnidisc label is new to 2015 but they seem to be doing interesting things. A debut release saw Miami DJ and producer Danny Daze collaborating with four separate artists, among them Comeme man Phil Gorbachev and Drvg Cvltvre, whilst the latter contributed a fine second Omnidisc transmission with This Place Of Wrath & Fears. Now the superb Cliff Lothar adds his brand of sonic alchemy to the mix with the three track Soul Plonk. The title cut is an insistent slab of bugged out techno that has big room cross over potential whilst "Slippin" veers off into queasier territory with an overweight bassline threatening to wreak havoc. The mood switches up again for B side track "Bona Feed" which glistens with futuristic intent.

Review: For their latest wax mission, sometime Wicked Bass and Mork sorts Raw M.T (short for Music Theory, fact fans) invite us on a trip to Planet G - a far-off netherworld populated by dystopian grooves, icy synthesizer melodies, weightless chords and stripped, deep space grooves. The journey begins with the first untitled track, a picturesque combination of raw drums, looped, Tangerine Dream style synth lines and spacey electronics. It's closely followed by the restless ride cymbals, ultra-deep beats and drifting pads of "Track 2", before "Track 3" signals a sense of impending doom via reinforced kick-drums, creepy chords and metallic percussion.

Asylum (7:30)
Squash (5:53)
Cycle Tuning (7:49)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Ghosts of the Sky is a new project from Taelue and Chicagodeep, the producers behind the occasional Perpetual Rhythms label. They begin in a murky mood with "Asylum", a low-slung, dub-influenced late night techno shuffler that makes great use of foreboding, horror-inspired chords, ghoulish electronics and delay-laden vocal yelps. It sounds like a contemporary take on the kind of gothic moodiness once offered up by Bauhaus. There's more of an unflustered aesthetic about "Squash", a throbbing deep techno jam that makes great use of undulating acid lines and picturesque chords. Flipside "Cycle Turning" closes proceedings by joining the dots between the yearning beauty of classic deep house, the far-sighted electronics of futurist techno and clattering intensity of analogue drum machine rhythms.

The Fuck (8:24)
The Fuck (Jamal Loves His IBM remix) (8:23)
Review: Berceuse Heroique continue their quest to put out only the most distorted, dystopian and intense techno cuts by turning to sometime Tabernacle, Scenery and Mathematics man Mark Forshaw. The wild freakery of A-side "The Fuck" is strangely alluring, with ragged, undulating acid lines and psychedelic electronics - most notable in a trippy multi-speed breakdown - sitting alongside head-mangling, in-your-face beats. The flipside IBM Remix is a little more straightforward, but no less intense, with juddering, cyclical loops and deliciously darting synth lines riding a pounding but rolling techno groove. As ever with BH, it's not for the faint of heart, but is certainly very good.

The Maid In The Kitchen (7:16)
Sondermarken Park In Winter (5:31)
Review: Long-established German producer Roger 'Sleeparchive' Semsroth continues his explorations of industrial techno with the cheerily titled And In His Eyes I Saw Death. Those already familiar with Semsroth's steel-plated brand of fuzzy, forthright techno will feel right at home. For the uninitiated, the title track is the perfect primer; think the aggressive intensity of Throbbing Gristle, combined with the hypnotic rhythms of Surgeon, with a little extra dustiness thrown in. There's a little more melody present on the alien, otherworldly loop-funk of "The Maid In The Kitchen", while "Sondermarken Park In Winter" fuses odd, off-key melodies to restless rhythms and pulsating bass.

Review: UK techno stalwart Steve Bicknell's Lost Recordings series must be one of the longest running in dance music; the Lost and Cosmic founder has been putting out previous unheard material from his early '90s heyday on and off since 2004. There are few surprises on this 10th edition, but plenty of slamming, no-holds-barred grooves. The hissing, spacey, cymbal-heavy "Track 3" is particularly trippy, while there's a gnarled, ragged intensity about the pulsating heaviness of "Track 1". Arguably best of all, though - ambient interlude "Track 2" aside - is "Track 4", an eerie techno shuffler built around a wonky, off-key electric piano loop and fizzing percussion.

Review: It's hard to find fault with anything by Detroit stalwart DJ Stingray. The Motor City veteran rarely puts a foot wrong, regardless of whether he's focusing on futurist techno or blistering, Drexciya-influenced electro. This EP for Lower Parts delivers the best of both worlds. On one hand, you have the stargazing bounce, undulating bassline, and shuffling 4/4 rhythms of "eRbB4" (also impressively remixed in an alien, Rotterdam electro style by Kon001), and the driving techno intensity of "Acetylocholine". On the other, there's "Denddrite", a ghetto-tech and footwork inspired electro blast that contrasts hissing rhythms with yearning, stretched-out chords.

Review: At last, our UK compatriot Sigha reappears on the excellent Avian label, pretty much the most consistent techno label to have surfaced over the last five years...and we deeply thank Shifted and Ventress for their continuity. Techno Derivatives is more daring than Sigha's other work for the imprint, where the EP is split into six parts, six segments of broken analogue techno - not for chin-strokers but for open-minded dancers! The beats are grainy, almost sandy, and they rarely fall into a steady 4/4 pattern as usually expected from the both the artist and the label. The tunes almost feel like pieces of noise loops that have been torn down and reassembled into some sort of techno flavour and there's a clear sense of rising climax, where the stuttering strands of percussion grow and retract with utter ease. This LP is something else, a real breath of fresh air in a genre that can become so easily sterile. Ya need this!

Review: Since first appearing on our radar last year, Spanish machine abuser Tensal (an alias for Exium man Hector Sandoval) has largely forged his own path, self-released 12" singles that bristle with the twin attractions of Industrial-minded analogue synthesizers and the bowel-worrying throb of stripped-back loop techno. For this EP, he's been tempted to join Armaud Le Texier and Emmaniel Ternois's Children of Tomorrow stable, whose discography reads like a who's who of techno. Aside from the deep and sensuous "Thesis 4", the EP continues Tensal's obsession with robust rhythms and mind-altering electronics, with the ragged "Thesis 1" and metallic "Thesis 3" providing the greatest dancefloor attractions.

Mercifully, the mysterious, no-holds-barred combo has decided to put out a double album containing much of this material, alongside a smattering of previously unheard cuts (including, most excitingly, a collaboration with Detroit legend DJ Genesis). The hard-to-find classics still sparkle - check the brilliantly sparse-but-heavy "Paris Dub 1" (with regular vocalist Paris Brightledge) and ragged "Transmission 5" (featuring a killer spoken vocal from Mutado Pintado) - while the new cuts are thankfully up to similarly high standard. Opener "Poshlost" is trippy and melancholic, with dusty, dub techno-influenced chords ricocheting around a delay-laden sound-space, underpinned by a simple-but-effective rhythm. "Margareten" ups the intensity, with ragged acid lines and a relentless techno groove providing contrast to the deepness of his chords. Finally, "Replacement" sits somewhere between the two tracks, with rolling techno chords, fuzzy textures, gently building melodies and fizzing percussion creating a rush-inducing mood.
