Review: "Melbourne Industrial/EBM scene representative, master mind behind Power Station/Power Cuts Kris Baha, contributes to Berlin based imprint Cocktail d'Amore with Autora.
Intensely disturbed, sleazy and dirty, the title track follows the lead of the most traditional EBM beats. Autora barks with distorted oddities perfectly mashed to an involving balance.
A factory ambiance out in the forest under a starry sky is Brink Reality. A slower paced gem for cosmic, stomping dance floors. While the beat-less A3 Happiness Disaster could open a scene of Twin Peaks 2999.
10Ways settles with a thundering bolt of crushing steel, bouncing percussions and a vocal worth of Front 242's legacy.
Closing the EP on a romantic and sweet note, Start Over is an italo/wave hybrid ballad tinged with hope and brightness.
Arp2600, Dave Smith Poly Evolver/Pro 2, Oberheim Obxa are few of Kris's partners responsible for this outstanding expression of contemporary music.

Review: [MA12] Morah - Voltage EP
The twelfth Modal Analysis release brings Athens based Morah to the frontline of the label's roster, along with the New York based, Vapauteen on the remix duties. Voltage EP carries 3 original tracks by the Greek electronic music producer, along with a very special reintrpretation by the American artist, also known as Shawn O'Sullivan. Aesthetics vary from slow and hypnotic rhythms to driving EBM riffs and harshly distorted percussions. Morah approaches the sound of Modal Analysis while maintaining his distinct charachter as a producer, using here field recordings and processed vocals.

Review: Emotional Rescue delves deep in to the past with the release of the first ever recordings by UK post-industrial, ambient pioneers O Yuki Conjugate (OYC). Recorded in Nottingham in 1983, the EP's four tracks showcase OYC's early sound: a beat-driven, lo-fi that places them alongside the early British electronic pioneers.

OYC, celebrating their 35th anniversary this year, are known for their "dirty ambient" sound - but it wasn't always thus. In their earliest incarnation OYC explored a more industrial approach characterised by tortured analogue drum machines, one-finger synth lines, played bass, tape loops and even flute. This naive sound template lasted until their debut album 'Scene in Mirage' (1984) before being jettisoned in favour of more ambient explorations.

The story behind these recordings is one of brotherly love between bands. OYC swapped time in their rehearsal space for a day's use of a four-track cassette portastudio owned by their associates, Metamorphosis. Three of the tracks included were recorded on May 1st 1983 at The End Room (literally a studio at the back of one of OYC's parents houses) with the remaining track (live favourite "The Clattering Song") being produced a couple of months later.

To date OYC have remained largely unknown in the UK due to their wilfully obscure approach. They have released a series of very well regarded studio albums and innumerable spin-off and side projects that has recently seen a revival of interest in their early years, including appearances on Cherry Red's compilation of formative UK electronic scene 'Close to the Noise Floor' and Optimo's compilation of Fourth World-style music 'Miracle Steps'.

Accepting their fate as musical outsiders, OYC continue to make music with little reference to the wider world. This EP makes a fine addition to that body of work.

Review: Strahinja Arbutina is fast becoming one of those artists you need to keep your eye on. With his first vinyl release on New York's industrial label Bank last year, he has no issue with making your ears bleed. Here he dons 4 tracks for Vivod and they're all brutal. First off is Way Ahead, straight up 4/4 industrial techno. A2 is the aptly named Croatian Households, more of a broken piece but still haunting in its rhythmic neg dynamics. B1 is Labud Loop, probably the most accessible track of the 4 as it's nearer to straight up techno, fans of Levon Vincent will like. Closing the ep is K stands For... with a slow burning break beat and vocals screaming incomprehensibly, awesome track, awesome ep. This is the hardest one for Vivod so far surely!

Review: Italian twosome Tale of Us last collaborated with Vaal - London-based daughter of Sting - way back in 2013. While that EP contained a couple of much-played tech-house rollers, this latest two-tracker explores different influences. A-side "Monument" is particularly alluring, thanks largely to rising and falling synthesizer arpeggio lines, momentum-shifting percussion, foreboding electronics and a spine-tingling vocal from Vaal. Flipside "The Hangar" is an altogether more forthright affair. Underpinned by a relentless kick-drum pattern, it's a moody, angular and mind-altering concoction that looks towards industrial techno for inspiration.

Review: After his appearance on Born Free Records, Rollerboys Recordings, and Rett I Fletta, Johannes Wilkstrom aka Yourhighness contributes to Cocktail d'Amore Music with Stratofortress.
The Berlin based imprint gathered techno guru Rrose, Born Free Records owner Samo DJ, and international Japanese wave representative Gonno, to offer an EP with a wide range of interpretations of the title track.
The original mix is an acid based, industrial influenced techno banger. Highly energetic, for sweaty late-night dance floors. On the same side Samo DJ transforms the techno blaster into a funky EBM ballad, characterized by a deep male voice and a breakbeat groove.
Rrose is on remix duty on the B-side. Stratofortress suddenly turns into a dubby, everlasting build up, that eventually implodes in the depth of a black hole.
Closing the EP Gonno offers a slow-mo rework. Deep and very cinematic, this remix will please every Cosmic Hole connaisseur.
