Less Talking More Walking EP

  1. Theoretically (5:44)
  2. Dream Catcher (5:50)
  3. Random Continuity (6:10)
  4. Into A Liquid Broken Space (5:15)
Review: Last autumn, Andrea La Pietra impressed with a debut double-pack on Melliflow that variously doffed a cap to Detroit futurism, jack-tracks, off-kilter electro and deep techno. Unsurprisingly, this follow-up EP boasts a similar amount of dancefloor eclecticism. After beginning with the bleeps, wobble bass and funk-fuelled tech-house beats of "Theoretically", he variously doffs a cap to classic Swag material (the undulating machine funk of "Dream Catcher", deep and woozy house ("Random Continuity"), and UK garage-influenced electro (the sub-heavy, funk-fuelled surge of "Into A Liquid Broken Place"). Happily, it all sounds club ready, with the latter track sounding like a late night anthem in the making.

  2. X (7:04)
  3. Flight 723 (7:33)
  4. Lost In Translation (7:07)
Review: After the success of his debut album, Burnski returns to Constant Sound with a 4 tracker designed for the dance floor. "Circuits" opens this new EP - for his own Constant Sound label - with a fiery, electrifying procession of telly drums and fidgety percussion folds, and this is stripped back even further on the magnetic banger entitled "X". Over on the B-side, "Flight 723" aptly takes us on a deeper journey, filled with mysterious synths tricks and imperceptible pad sounds, while "Lost In Translation" clicks away to a more familiar minimal tone, rounded off and sleeked into motion by deep, wondrous gleams of dubbiness.

A Funny Thang EP (140 gram vinyl 12")

  1. A Funny Thang (6:49)
  2. Stressedout (6:46)
  3. Rising (vinyl only) (7:07)
  4. Funny Dub Ya Know (6:15)
Review: Last seen whipping up a storm with self-released 12"s of upfront club material, Nightdrivers duo Rufus and Mass_Prod get snapped up by Holic Trax to drop more of their raw, hard-hitting hardware jams. "A Funny Thang" is delightfully off-kilter, using all kinds of oddball samples atop a bleepy backdrop, while "Stressedout" gets into a deeper groove that hinges on an insistent bassline and some crafty RnB licks. Shedding some light on the B-side, "Rising" takes some choice jazz funk hooks and whips up a Detroit house-style flavour before "Funny Dub Ya Know" pulls proceedings right back to the robotic machinations of the opening track with an even freakier re-rub.

Review:

Elephant Moon proudly presents Russian producer Plantae (Artyom Zlobin).. His love for contemporary electronic music came a little later in life, with early influences coming from the worlds of old rock, jazz, hip-hop and older electronic recordings. He has a deep-seated love for nature, and counts art, design, books and film among his inspirations outside of music. On this EP he channels all his influences into four nuanced cuts, straight from his laboratory to John Dimas, the head scientist at Elephant Moon.
