Upon first fight, there was no doubt that a label named Ken Oath would be be from that wacky land down under. Sure enough, this Sydney based 'Oz-specific label' (no, really?) is run by Earl Grey Radio and one James Greville. Here they present the debut of an artist named Caravan; their full length entitled Coarsica is, as you'd have probably guessed already given the cliches; inspired by the fauna of the Australian outback, but by way out neon-lit synths and analogue aesthetics of the '80s. The track "Banksia" didn't quite make it to the soundtrack of Crocodile Dundee; but it could have in another life. He/she has a bash at classic house aesthetics on the delightful summertime deepness of 'Casuarina", while "Enchylaena" (Trail mix) goes for some minimalist disco boogie for rural shearing sheds.
