Despite a swathe of early releases on Perfecto, Hernan Cattaneo has always been more successful as a DJ than a producer. It's for this reason that the Argentine progressive house veteran is frequently in demand to mix compilations. Balance 26 may be his first such venture in two years, but it's his eleventh in total. It's a predictably atmospheric and melody-rich affair, with the first CD progressing from the winding downtempo bliss of Boards of Canada to the baggy, near Balearic house of Guy J via a serious of tactile downtempo cuts. Disc two heads further towards the dancefloor, with a string of his tech-house and prog-infused tracks getting the pulse racing.
