Overseer finds the illusive John T Gast align with FunkinEven's Apron label for a sharp, club-ready one-sided 12" that proves once again the Hype Williams associate is a class apart no matter what he turns his hands to. Last spotted on 5 Gate Temple with an excellent tape of doom-laden electronics called INNA BABYLON - which we urge you to seek out - Gast's appearance on Apron sees him fully engaging in techno forms on his own terms - an approach he only hinted at in brief spots on his excellent Planet Mu. Wasting little time to kick in, "Overseer" sees a coldly delivered spoken word vocal uttered amidst a cacophony of drum machine hits and synth-shaped drama. A very odd DJ tool but quite befitting of both label and artist.
