With its sensual blend of hissing, jazz-influenced percussion, warm chords, live keys and bluesy sampled vocals, there's no doubt that "Love" is one of Motor City Drum Ensemble's most accomplished compositions yet. Here, the original is joined by a trio of remixes, including a notable rub from Kyle Hall. His version is typically claustrophobic, building an intoxicating late groove around analogue bass pulses, relentless percussion and all manner of strange synth noises. Wolfgang Voigt reaches for the (synth) strings on his pleasingly groovy rework, whilst Smallpeople do their best Lone impression with the assistance of some big piano riffs and jackin' beats.
