Given the success of Easy Stars Allstars' dub reggae re-imaginings of classic rock and indie albums, it was almost inevitable that someone would eventually apply a similar formula to beloved dance albums. First to market is Mato, AKA French percussionist-turned-producer Thomas Blanchot, who here offers-up a note-for-note dub reggae cover of Daft Punk's celebrated debut Homework. Pleasingly, there's an authenticity to the sound that makes it particularly appealing; while tracks such as "Around The World", "Revolution 909" and "Da Funk" are relatively faithful melodically and structurally to Bangalter and Honem-Christo's originals, they now sound like they were produced in one of Kingston's classic studios, circa 1976, rather than in Paris at the tail end of the 1990s.
