Fresh from delivering killer 12" singles on Dust Audio and Warm Communications, Mikal serves up his first solo EP on Horizons Music. All three tracks are typically ballsy and floor-friendly, with the Sweden-born Londoner's punchy, live-sounding drums and weighty basslines naturally taking centre stage. He begins with the moody, tech-tinged roller "From Creation", where paranoid electronics and blazed vocal samples catch the ear, before going further towards twisted tech-step territory on the kinetic cyber-funk of "The Night". A dose of much-needed warmth is provided via closer "Scattered", where floatation tank chords rise and fall around metallic post-jungle rhythms and military strength sub-bass.
