There's something faintly unsettling about most of mysterious German act SNTS's releases, but few are as creepy as this third installment in the self-released Scene trilogy. While dedicated to the potential of rhythm, their tracks come drenched in ghostly chords and faintly threatening textures. This is darkroom techno designed to soundtrack the end of days, rather than cheer the soul. Even so, there's plenty to admire, from the marching intensity of closer "15.04.1946", to the clanking, industrial rhythms and dubbed-out, horror-influenced soundscapes of "20.01.1944". The latter comes accompanied by a fine Shifted remix, which takes the track further towards straight up techno territory.
