After making waves with his Never Enough release on Rinse, XXXY sidles back to Ten Thousand Yen for another chunky of hybrid club-wrecking tackle that shows off his production nous as well as his dancefloor instinct. "Goldfish" ripples with muscular energy, from the monolithic synth hooks to the nasty arpeggios and beyond. The drums are no slouches either, especially around the mids and highs as crisp snares and hats rattle out with militaristic precision. "Evade" has a softer feel, although it's still a gutsy, full-bodied production that leans heavily into the melodic tech house camp with its emotive tones and patient execution.
