Notes: Wow. Oscillators don't come much more special than this. Two contrasting, fully independent VCOs with waveshaping and complex cross-modulations, plus the 'Thru Zero Trinity' of FM, phase and amplitude modulation. Beautiful.

Thru Zero Complex Oscillator

A new complex oscillator, featuring two independent VCO's. Both voices have a unique signal path and flavour. Complex cross modulations entangle them together, opening up completely new timbral territories.

Features include the Thru Zero trinity; Frequency, Phase and Amplitude modulation.

Each oscillator also has its own Low Pass Filter, which works great to mellow the harsher tones from complex intermodulations.

Each VCO has great tracking and temperature stability, there is no distinction between a carrier and modulator.

The FM bus lets you modulate the index of each individual voice, with linear and exponential inputs for external sources. There are also inputs for Sync in, with both soft and hard sync.

VCO 1

The left VCO signal chain starts with a shape function, that let's you morph between triangle and saw. This waveform is also available as a separate output.

Next is a sinusoidal wavefolder, which changes its response dramaticaly based on shape of the waveform. The circuit is based on a modified version of a design by Barrie Gilbert from 1977, popularized by Open-Music-Labs (used with permission).

This circuit also creates the possibility of Thru Zero Phase Modulation, here the depth is controlled with the third slider. The source is normaled to VCO 2, but external modulation sources can be patched in, and the depth can also be modulated with CV.

Lastly there's a 2-pole Low Pass Filter, before going out the MAIN output. All parameters can be CV controlled, and feature handy attenuators at the inputs.

VCO 2

The first slider is a continuous waveform shaper, that morphs from sine to tri to saw.

This waveform then enters the Thru Zero Amplitude Modulation (Ringmod) section. The slider sets the depth of modulation, with the source normalized to VCO 1. The depth can be CV controlled, and an external source can be patched as well. The result is also available on a separate output, pre wavefolder/filter (VCO 2 sine).

The third slider is a wavefolder, it's based around a novel wavefolding topology, with a unique and more aggressive sound compared to the sinusoidal folder of VCO 1.

The wavefolded signal goes into a 2 pole Low Pass Filter, and out of the MAIN output.

Celebrating its ten year anniversary with a sea glass double LP reissue, there's never been a more ideal time to revisit this array of transformative, carefree bangers.

Notes: Reco-Clean, a cleaner developed by Disk Union exclusively for professional use for vinyl records, is highly effective in reducing noise caused by dirt in the sound grooves.

It is designed to balance cleaning power and sound quality to avoid adverse effects on sound quality.

Normally, Reco-Clean alone is effective enough, but Diskunion have developed a special additive (cleaning booster) as a countermeasure for stubborn stains that cannot be removed easily.

How to use

1. Apply a small drop of Reco-Clean PLUS to the required area.
2. Wipe off with a Reco-Cloth, pressing it lightly against the surface of the record as if polishing it.
3. Clean the entire surface again with regular Reco-Clean.
4. Wipe off completely with the Reco-Cloth.

*Always re-clean (rinse) with regular Reco-Clean after use.

Notes: Do you use pedals that don't match the outputs of your power supply? With EBS new power adapter cables, there's a way to solve most matters.

It sucks when you realize your coolest vintage pedal or latest digital processor-driven unit can't be fed from your pedalboard power supply because they are thirstier or uses different power inputs than your power supply features. Here's how you do it:
To go from 2.1 to 2.5 mm, use the DC1-48 90/0 2.5 adaptor.
Want to change the polarity? Use the DC1-48 90/0 RP adaptor.
To increase the current, use the DC1-48 90/0 PAR and connect two outputs from your power supply. The total current will be the current from both outputs added together.*
To increase the voltage, use the DC1-48 90/0 SER and connect two outputs from your power supply. The total voltage will be the voltage from both outputs added together.*

Review: Originally released in 1992, Completion Of A Miracle was American R&B and gospel musician Steve Elliott's second LP. New Zealand-based reissue imprint Rain & Shine continue their love for Elliott's self-produced music by giving the album another lease of life. Remastered from the original reel-to-reel tapes, it includes the dancefloor cut "Wake Up". Another essential release set to become a future collector's item. Review: Hungarian producer Gnork is a leading light of the house scene in Europe. He was previously of Legendary Sound Research-affiliated outfit Black L3GO but is hard to beat in solo mode. Inner Ride is his latest full-length album and one that finds him casting himself adrift of daily woes into a world of heavenly ambient and downtempo synth magic. There are gently lilting disco floaters, suspenseful drones and retro-future space missions alive with wispy neon melodies and lush arps. What a record.

Review: Lesky and Waywell is a pairing made up of a German lo-fi heavyweight and a UK guitarist. Mesame (which is Georgian for "the third") is a lush new soundtrack to sun kissed pool parties, with all the smart samples and hooky melodies you need to make for a classic afternoon. Soothing guitars site next to lazy beast, with plenty of classy yacht rock vibes and neo soul keys, trap-staled drums and tunes which draw on the Indian concept of the third eye chakra which "provides higher consciousness and perception beyond ordinary sight and refers to the psychedelic influences surrounding the album sound."

Review: Ricardo Miranda is a DJ and producer from Chicago who heads up Noble Square Recordings. The Deep & The Lost (A Collection Of Lost Music) is his latest album compilation featuring music from the archives that is unreleased, lost, unappreciated and unavailable. Whether it's the deeply evocative opening cut 'Heirs of Rhythms' reaching near spiritual moments in the vein of Joe Clausell, or the soothing mood music of 'Turntable Blues' on the first side, or the dusty, down 'n' dirty vinyl exclusive '118 Deep Vibes' and the sensual 'Storm Clouds' featuring the Latin Soul Brothas - this is really one for the heads. Tip!

Review: Meg Mulhearn and Belly Full of Stars come together for this split release on which the former takes care of the first four tunes and the latter the other five. For her part, Mulhearn harnesses the power of fire and ice, sunshine and torrential rain in tracks that are occasionally gentle and sometimes harsh. The textures are fuzzy and grainy but synths and strings bring light and hope. Kim Rueger's Belly Full of Stars alias finds her going deep into subterranean worlds of cavernous sound detailed with the finest of wispy melodies on' Ebon Flow' while 'Perihelia' has a more organic and summery feel desire being so pressurised and tense. These are enchanting sounds for sure.

Review: Narco Marco returns to Pace In Stereo for more adventures through yesterday's tomorrow. As ever, the production is incredible, offering two tracks that pack a timeless sound informed by Italo, early electro-pop, cold and synth wave, a twin delight that somehow serves as the ideal home or headphone listen, yet is also dance floor ready and primed for proper parties. Starting on the slowest, tempo wise, 'Bald Tag' doesn't exactly owe a debt to Kraftwerk but certainly offers a place for sounds could have evolved in the back catalogue of the German pioneers. It's a weird and warbling, stepping, highly musical ride. 'Ice Tea', meanwhile, opts to get more of a stomp on, glittering harmonies painting stars in the sky above, vocals swapped out for more melodic depth.

Review: Phat Kev might well be best known for his breakthrough mix album Brazilianbeats 'n Pieces, which dropped on Mr Bongo in 2007. He's a true-skool hip hop lifer, and he's been tasked with working on the Mr Bongo reissue of the Wild Style soundtrack. If you need schooling on Wild Style, one of the most significant markers of hip hop culture, then we suggest you do some urgent research right now. Meanwhile, Kev is in the mix, sampling the film and its soundtrack and creating a Lesson-style mix which rolls impossibly smooth from start to finish. Get the best from that mix on this sure shot 7", which has all the disco rap magic you might need to get a party loosened up.
