This instrument has the ability to create atonal synth tones in stereo (and quad) as well as process incoming stereo audio (and quad) sources via 1/4" and 3.5mm ins and outs. Incoming audio sources can be "patched" or rewoven into any area of either or both of the circuits via skin contact. The input volume knobs shape and effect distortion and drive amounts and behave slightly differently when given a mono input signal versus a stereo signal. The quad inputs and outputs via the 3.5mm jacks have small touch plates leading to and from allowing for touch access of each of the 4 inputs and 4 outputs. If multiple audio signals are traveling into the Stereo Field these audio sources can be intermingled and can modulate one another. Sending CV signals into the 3.5mm input jacks will open up many more possibilities both in terms of synthesized sounds and audio processing.
The Stereo Field can also be used as a sort of lo-fi controlled random source when using the 3.5mm outputs to send CV to your modular system. Due to the nature of feedback and finger patching the 4x available CV signals have the ability to get incredibly complex in nature (see audio examples below in use with a euro-rack system). Because of the open nature of Stereo Field it can both send and receive CV modulation simultaneously. In addition, this can all be happening while your finger patching is changing and altering the incoming and outgoing CV while also processing incoming audio. These ins and outs can also be patched together with cables for sustained tones with the pitch/rhythm/volume/cutoff being affected by adjusting the incoming and outgoing volume knobs in various settings. Inter-patching in this way will also allow for sustained pulse beats and filter like sound shaping in addition to bringing new results to patching via the touch plates. Most importantly, processed audio and synthesized audio are available simultaneously with the ability to influence and modulate each other. This will often blur the lines between the two; who is manipulating who? who comes out on top as audio and who is modulation? This can be a constantly evolving cycle based upon where the performers fingers are placed and highly sensitive skin contact or "pressure" changes.
The sound is sometimes easy to describe; (distortion, filtering, feedback, square wave, pulse width modulation, rhythms, wave-folding, frequency modulation, amplitude modulation, spacial shifts, panning, sub octaves, pitch following) but most of the time these definitions fall "between effects" or in combinations of multiple effects that can be shifting, feeding back or pulsing in sync with incoming audio during processing. Since the user is directly touching analog circuitry through copper touch plates, shifts in pitch/timbre/stereo/drive/modulation can be accessed instantly. The stereo (or quad) imaging of the instrument is both influenced by feedback and modulation in regards to where your fingertips are patching along with modulation caused by incoming audio content. In addition to the sheer number of patching and finger pressure combinations available, the instrument has shown theremin-esque properties in certain settings due to the large surface area of the gold plates. To bring this even a step further it the synth tones can be triggered by only breathing on the plates using breath control to sculpt the audio.

The functionality of SHAPERS is easy enough: the incoming gate or trigger signal passes through each of the four stages to output an envelope. When the ADSR module receives a gate or trigger signal, the ATTACK determines the amount of time needed for the envelope generator to reach the peak output voltage and move on to the decay stage. DECAY sets the amount of time needed to transition to the level set by the sustain knob. The SUSTAIN level is maintained as long as the incoming gate remains on or high. Once the incoming gate goes low or off, the release stage takes over. The RELEASE knob sets the time needed to close the envelope and return the ADSR output to 0 volts.
SHAPERS envelopes can respond lightning fast or demonstrate the patience of a saint, especially in the LONG RANGE 1 and 2 settings. INV 1 makes topsy-turvy time fun with the inverting of the ADSR 1, and the LED indicators provide a useful visual assist.

quadroPOL is a four-channel polarizer module. It can attenuate any incoming signal, in-phase or out of phase. One of its most special features is the way each channel's level control works. Instead of having one dedicated zero-point, it has a "dead zone" where the input signal will be completely suppressed. Thus, you will easily find the off-position, even without a centre-click, while, at the same time you'll be able to create extremely sensitive level increases.
Further outstanding features are:
- A channel's output signal will optionally be forwarded to the next one, which allows the use of quadroPOL as a mixer-module. This way you can sum up to four signals.
- The module can be controlled via control voltages. Beside manually setting the level you can use each channel as VCA. You never can have enough VCAs in a modular system, can you?
- quadroPOL's circuits work with a four-quadrant-multiplier. This means the module is a ringmodulator without compromises - sorry - four ringmodulators.
Do you have 10 HP unused rack-space left in your Eurorack-system? You should consider getting a quadroPOL module. It is so versatile that it's hard to live without one, once you've gotten your hands on one of it.
Individual Filter Outputs:
tVCF-Extension has got individual outputs for each filter type of twinVCFilter's filter-sections and even adds notch outputs. You can use all outputs at the same time.
As you might know, twinVCFilter already has two CV-inputs per filter section. We thought that might not be enough for complex patches, so tVCF-Extension has additional CV-inputs to modulate the cutoff-frequencies. Each with a dedicated polarizer for attenuating and inverting incoming voltages.
With these you will get new modulation possibilities like controlling both cutoff-frequencies at the same time in parallel or contrary.
To get even more out of the module you can separate the polarizer section from the cutoff-frequencies and use them independently of twinVCFilter. They also can generate a voltage on their own.
tVCF-Extension is an elegant and even slim way to extend the vast possibilities of twinVCFilter.
Features and Routing:
Each filter section of twinVCFilter works as low- or highpass-filter with a slope of 12 dB/octave or as bandpass-filter with 6 db/octave. Signals can be directed in three ways through the module:
- Serial: The incoming signal passes both filter sections in a row.
- Dual: The filter sections act completely separated of each other. As if they were two individual filter modules.
- Parallel: The incoming signal passes both filters at the same time.
With these routings you can i.e. generate bandpasses or notches with variable slopes and different resonance settings or doubling the filter's slope. These are the more obvious combinations but there is a lot more to discover.
The convenient link-feature allows to couple cutoff- and resonance of both filter sections for straightforward stereo use in dual mode.
The flexible signal-routing is supplemented by the mix-section. Here you can crossfade both filter sections manually or by control voltages. Seamless movements from low- to highpass-filter, is as easy as crossfading from half to doubled slope. Of course you can mix two completely individual signals or toggle between them by using a rectangle-LFO-modulation.
Resonance is a key factor in the context of sound-shaping and sound-generation using a filter. Therefore we carefully trimmed twinVCFilter's resonance to be as musically and stable as possible. You can apply subtle frequency-dependent emphasis to signals and tear them up to self-oscillation. The latter generates a solid sine-wave which is an excellent base for percussive sounds. Possible cross-modulations significantly enhance the sound-generator features. By the way: If you are missing a vibrato-LFO in a patch, twinVCFilter can do the job.
twinVCFilter offers a huge set of features to form impressive soundscapes. It can take subtle influence to signals or massively truncate frequencies. It leaves nothing to be desired. Despite, for those who need additional possibilities we especially designed the tVCF-Extension module.
Oscillator-circuits are used in our VERMONA synthesizers, we know how to design them. But instead of copy and paste, we reworked many aspects when adapting our circuits for modular purpose. What is great for closed systems might not always be perfect for modular systems.
All that development work resulted in uniCYCLE: compact, high-performant and stable.
Simple interface and quality without compromises:
When designing an audio-oscillator we took great care to make it suitable for musical context. Beside excellent sound quality this also means rock-solid tuning stability. uniCYCLE more than fulfils these requirements. It easily covers a huge tuning-range while strictly following the 1-volt-per-octave-convention.
With one knob you can master uniCYCLE's frequencies in three different modes. TUNE either controls the low-frequency or audio range or adds respectively subtracts, exactly one octave. In this calibrated mode it provides a dead-zone around its centre-position. Thus it's easy to access all three octaves without the need of a centre-click.
With only 10 HP in width, uniCYCLE offers all the common features that you might expect: inputs for hard- and soft-sync as well as exponential and linear frequency modulation.
Even more than standard waves:
uniCYCLE offers six waveform outputs. Beside the classic sawtooth, triangle and square it generates sine, even and a special sawtooth with doubled frequency. PWM is not only available for square. Even - a shape the only has even-numbered harmonics - can be transformed to a sine-like wave whereas the doubled saw turns into half-pitched triangles.
uniCYCLE is a strong base for each Eurorack-system. At least one should be in every case.
