Review: Clutch's cult and debut recording back in 1993 has never before been available on vinyl, but it is now thanks to Weathermaker Music who have pressed it up to a limited 180 gram sea glass blue vinyl and included a numbered and autographed insert. Transnational Speedway League is a great work from the band's Tim Sul and it comes with great artwork which has been redesigned by Dan Winters and Sult. The limited pressing is a must-own for fans that reminds of the band's very earliest sonic roots, raw riffs and guttural vocals that all make for an intense and arresting album still now all these years later.

Review: It was the album, or perhaps era, that nearly brought the whole thing crashing down around the members, threatening to cut short what has subsequently become one of the most longstanding, celebrated and influential British rock music stories at the fourth chapter - when there was clearly so much more left to write and read. LP four from The Cure is arguably up there with the darkest of hours, a brooding, claustrophobic gothic pop masterpiece that laid bare, and still does, the struggles of those involved, and ourselves. Fuelled by heavy drug use and with the underlying uncertainty that disbandment was a very real possibility as a result, with Robert Smith's plummeting mental health and in-fighting only adding to the troubles, nevertheless, Pornography is a powerhouse album which approaches stark and universally poignant themes without apology, helping generation after generation understand that somewhere someone gets it.

Review: There are so many pivotal albums in The Cure's imperious back catalogue, but Wish will always remain one which heralded the band's progression from indie heroes to universally adored treasures of British pop music. Review: The Cure's live album 'Paris' catches the band in the summer of 1992. This tour came after a siesmic shift in the previously fairly static line up of the goth pop icons, with original frontman Robert Smith and long serving bassist Simon Gallup joined by drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O'Donnell and guitar player Perry Bamonte for the first time, all of whom remain part of their live ensemble 30 years later. The setlist starts with their evergreen opener 'Shake Dog Shake' but this selection double vinyl captures more deep cuts - 'The Figurehead', 'One Hundred Years' and 'Apart' as examples - than hits, although the dark pop of 'Close To Me' does make an appearance close to its end.

Review: "Anthology" serves as a celebration of The Clean, a band whose influence extends so far beyond their New Zealand home that even if you have never heard of The Clean before, you have surely heard of some of the bands (Pavement, Yo La Tengo, and Superchunk, to name a few) who have been influenced by their unique blend of homemade garage rock, hook-filled melodies and psychedelic experimentalism.
The album is a compilation from across The Clean's legendary career, which began in 1981 and continues today. Merge originally released the two CD "Anthology" in 2003, but now this collection is available on quadruple LP. "Anthology" kicks off with The Clean's call-to-arms debut "Tally Ho!"; the story of the infectious track's $60 recording bill is now legendary. It continues with the early EPs "Boodle Boodle Boodle" and "Great Sounds Great" in their entirety. The hits "Billy Two", "Anything Could Happen", "Beatnik" and "Getting Older", live favorites like "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" and instrumentals "Fish" and "At the Bottom" all serve up memories of the joyous noise that characterized The Clean of that time. These recordings, mostly made by the band with Chris Knox and Doug Hood at the helm of the 4-track, capture the bright, raw sound of a classic garage band.
After a brief breakup, the band recorded "Vehicle" in 1989, made in three days and engineered by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine). The sounds of "Vehicle" and the two albums that followed it, "Modern Rock" (1994) and "Unknown Country" (1996), make up the bulk of discs 3 and 4 of the vinyl "Anthology". Review: Crosses (traditionally written as +++) is the shoegazing alt-rock collaboration of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. Combining elements of dream pop, darkwave, and witch house into their post-rock tinged machinations, whilst drawing on their previous output to concoct an atmosphere not dissimilar from their previous works, there's enough unique motifs for the material here to stand on its own. Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. marks their first full-length since 2014's serene self-titled debut LP and comes less than a year after last December's illustrious return to from on the Permanent Radiant EP. With outside producers such as Dawn Golden receiving credits as well as the appearance of Run The Jewels mastermind El-P and The Cure's Robert Smith, expect another dizzying batch of euphoric, hypnotic, sultry and sinister dreamgaze bliss.

Enjoying the result of their most successful album Wish, the band was to take on their biggest world tour yet. For the previous two tours, there was no proper full recording of the band live by the group themselves. Robert Smith wanted to change that and a handful of shows were recorded to be edited together for the live albums Paris and Show. Paris shows the power of The Cure's new lineup which featured a new drummer, keyboard player and guitar player. Like most Cure concerts, the setlist is a varied mix of brand-new tracks at the time (Apart and A Letter to Elise) many classics (Figurehead, A Charlotte Sometimes and Shake Dog Shake) but then always a sprinkle of lesser-known ones like 'Dressing Up'. Review: The Cure is surely everyone's favourite band of post-rock and hyper emo miserablists. Their dark but uplifting moods and joyful melancholy always strike a perfectly bittersweet note when paired with the upbeat guitar rhythms and their 1993 live album Show is as good as it gets. The tunes that mark the cut here were recorded over two nights at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan in the USA the previous year as part of their huge Wish tour. It features later career classics like 'Friday I'm In Love', 'Just Like Heaven' and 'In Between Days' as well as plenty of lesser-known album jams ('Lullaby', 'High', 'Cut' and more).

Review: As part of a wider Cranberries reissues bundle, the Irish dream pop favourites' third album To The Faithful Departed is here reissued as an vinyl edition. The 1996 album features the later singles 'Salvation', 'Free to Decide' and 'When You're Gone', and while these were by no means such gargantuan successes as the likes of 'Zombie', they still dominated the rock and indie charts at the time. The 3CD deluxe edition offers the a selection of demos from the recording sessions in Paris, plus unreleased outtakes, early mixes, and and 12 live pieces recorded on the band's 1996 Free to Decide tour. This comes with an extensive booklet about the making of the album based on interviews with the remaining members of the band.

Review: Codeine were a short-lived band whose exacting nature and hyperpfocused craft, while cementing their early success in the early 1990s, might also have contributed to their downfall. Dessau was the band's second LP, and their last project to be released, before their split due to creative differences (the album was originally shelved). The eight-track album is nevertheless an early slowcore gem, packed with melodic elysia, colossal and crisp drumming, and revolutionary ideas for an emo renaissance.
