Review: Aniara's white label number four delivers more techno goodness direct to the dance floor. The A-side features two of Arkajo's most compelling dance-floor tracks, with both offering a propulsive groove and warped and dubbed-out basslines. On the flip side, Dorisburg and Efraim Kent (who are here making their debut on Aniara) present the darker vibes of 'Data Smuggler' which rides on broken beats and has real menace in the airwaves. It complements the A-side with a more deep mood and hypnotic rhythm that will be pure dancing bait.

Review: Alex Attias is the man behind the El Mustang Project and here he teases his upcoming album with a couple of new tunes on Visions Inc. As always, they find him fusing the organic with the synthetic to make for deep and silky house tunes that straddle genres and ages. 'Love Me Better' opens with a gorgeous vocal and rickety drums that ooze charm. 'Dream Drumz' gets a little more raw and edgy with pixelated melodic spirals and 'Life' gets old school. Cowbells ping about the mix as distorted bass and frazzled pads add texture to this subtle throwback jam.

The boss has been busy putting together a trio of new EPs for the first half of 2023 that showcases a wealth of Mid-West talent. House hero Boo Williams kicks off this one with his typically tight drum programming and party-starting synth work on 'Tickin Clock.' Eric Johnson keeps it raw, deep and loopy on 'Melodic Gruv' then Reggie Dokes brings his signature Atlanta house sound to 'Mother's Child' with its melancholic lead sax and 'End of Time' is a broken beat bliss out.

Review: Dutch label Shiver makes its debut this week with a various artist EP featuring some current heroes of the minimal/tech house scene. On the first side of Cold Flower (Full Bloom) you've got Cris P with the hi-tech deepness of the title track, reminiscent of early United States Of Mars sounds, followed by Rosario's darkly stomping Stigma Flap remix and Ouhx's liquid drum 'n' bass journey 'Aomori' which is an introduction of things to come over on the flip. There you have Berlin's Ed Herbst, usually known for his deep house exploits, delivering the 90s influenced jazzy jungle roller 'High & Dry' followed by something more familiar of him in the form of late night mood music groove 'Between The Bars'.

Review: It's hard to refer to Cocoon without calling it 'mighty' because the now 20+ year old label run by Sven Vath is one of European techno's most prominent. It is synonymous with colourful parties all over the world but still does a great job of serving up fresh sounds too. Two mainstays combine for this one with Defekt and Extrawelt cooking up 'Cell Sync' which is dark and menacing, with rigid drum loops and menacing synths. 'In The Space Of' has more molten synth modulations layered up to a ghoulish effect over slamming drums. It's peak time stuff, for sure.

Featuring the talented vocalist Mariseya, the track's infectious energy is driven by a captivating piano groove that is very much reminiscent of the artists' deep Italian house roots but with all new style added in. Also featuring is a Diano Ross referencing gem in the form of 'I'm Coming Out' which is a pure house bumper for unadulterated good times. Review: The Lonewolf label strikes again with another intriguing new 12" that mixes up synth, wave and electro. E Bony is behind it and we know nothing of who they are but they clearly know how to coax some magic out of their machines. 'Hello & Goodbye' opens with rasping electro bass and rugged analogue drums while 'Half Man' takes off on a more arresting and peak time trip to the stars. 'No One Is Here' has silky arps and classic electro bleeps driving it along while the B-side begins with a La Mverte remix that brings plenty of metallic dark disco chug to the floor. The original is another bright, twitchy electro workout.

Review: Eagles & Butterflies has had plenty of notable tunes over the years. No doubt that is why he gets the nod from Gerd Jansen's legendary Running back label to offer up Retropolis Vol 01. It is a four-track EP that shows off the producer's well-realised sounds. The title track is the real standout - 'Retropolis' brings electro-styled synth work with brilliantly future retro euro-disco energy. It's packed with hints of Italo and is sure to light up any club scene. Says the producer of the EP, "Retropolis is the past meets the future. Review: Here comes the Booom!!! Edits label with another sublime selection of deep house burners. This third volume is from the artist who goes by the name of Earls Booom!!! Edits takes the form of four cuts titled 'NEP.' Th opener is awash with smoky pads and sombre chords over a mid-tempo and dusty groove, but things pick up on the second cut with its gorgeous r&b vocals swirling over warm and humid bass and drums as cosmic synth lines rise out of the mix. On the flip, there is a congo-heavy rhythm topped with a deft little r&b hook nice more and the closer brings more pumping grooves but still with a big heart. These are steamy backroom sounds of the highest order.

Review: Four slices of deep house with a distinctly laid back, R&B flavour to them. 'Brandii' kicks us off in suitably relaxed manner, gorgeous harmonies and female and male voices adding to the irresistible groove and subtle layer of strings. 'Black Sunshine' is faster but retains the light touch approach, whereas 'Chuckii' is built around a sturdier four-to-the-floor kick, although the vocal content is still silky smooth. Closing track 'No!' is woozier and more dreamlike, with almost p-funk synth lines, though the Earl's arrangement leaves the percussive undercarriage that carries the track plenty of room to thrive in too.

Review: EBB hails from New Zealand and has been popping up on our radar since around 2019. He has a broad and stylish take on bass music that looks to all corners for its inspiration. Opener 'Fallen' is an unrelenting steamroller with hits peeling off the fleshy, bubbly, heavy groove. 'Lazer Riddim' gets more twitchy with blasts of bass and shooting synths and then 'Time Warp Tonic' gets well rave-up with its cantering drums and visceral synth patterns. Review: Akka & BeepBeep is a new label from the US that is dropping its first two EPs simultaneously on Valentine's Day. Joradesilver is behind one, and also feature sin collaborative mode on this other 12". It opens with 'King David', a hi-tek house sound with soul drenched pads and tightly programmed drums and bass. 'Mango Strut' slows right down to dubbed out house with clattering percussion and the sound of spacecraft, then 'June Buggy' gets funky with more twitchy cosmic synths and a nice organic house groove. Review: Japan's consistently excellent Edit & Dub label is back with mrs of that sure fire dance floor heat. This latest missive opens with a brace of brilliance from Gino Dentie & The Family. 'Movin On' is as smooth as disco funk gets, with bubbling t0ms and syrupy synths over a slick rhythm section. 'Express' gets a little bit deeper. A meandering flute leads the way up top with flat footed kicks making you move. The flip has high speed cosmic disco funk in the form of 'Voodoo Man' and then more loose limbed sunshine on 'I'm Gonna Dance,' a heartwarming cut for sure.

Review: Mystical dreamweaver Edward has previously brought out some of his classiest club-tooled gear for Trelik, with 2018's Rumours EP being a particular highlight in his glittering career in minimal. Breaking a protracted silence for Baby Ford's label, this new three-tracker once more takes us into the unique atmospheric zone Edward occupies with his productions. 'The Giver' has an unnerving, desolate quality but it's also rock-solid in the rhythm department, with subtle threads of warmth to balance out the eeriness. 'Memory Motions' is a spicier cut with a pronounced house jack to propel a tense set of sonic motifs, with a special mention to the wobbly organ-like chord line. 'Tuned' is the most upfront of all the tracks, using some processed piano hooks and a full compliment of nagging, funkified ingredients to make a certified, if left-of-centre, party starter.

Review: EEE is many things - a huge part of Yorkshire dialect, a rather fun party prescription (apparently) and also the name of a low key but high class label that deals in hand-stamped 12"s that pair fun with function. This 16th such outing is another testament to that. The A-side is a nice deep and dusty tech house cut with cheeky samples that hook you in, and the A-side also has just one track on it and it is built on a chunk y low end, peppered with hits and looping bass and topped with classic vocals Missy samples that you can imagine will do damage in Ibiza the summer.

Review: If you dig tried and tested tech-house grooves fused with elements from classic cuts, there's a fair chance you've already snagged copies of numerous volumes in the popular East End Edits series. We'd suggest taking a listen to the clips of the imprint's latest single-sided missive, which not so subtly pitches up and beefs up one of the greatest summer sing-alongs of all time: Bill Withers' 'Lovely Day'. Built around a restless, non-stop house groove - all hissing cymbals, crunchy snares and locked-in kick-drums - the rework builds impressively after introducing the track's famous bassline before introducing the sweeping strings and Withers' iconic vocal. A simple idea executed impressively.

Review: EEE stands for East End Edits and beyond that, we know nothing about this white label and production outfit. So far they have seven up their own takes on Madonna, Depeche Mode and Kelis, St Germain stye deep house and smoky late night minimal. This is a one-track wonder on one side of wax and it is a thumping and steamy deep house cut with driving drums and swirling pads. A vocal sample is littered through as the crispy percussion adds texture. It's tasteful and well-designed but also set to do plenty of damage to the dancefloor.

Review: We're now up to a 15th transmission on the EEE label from whoever the EEE artist is or are. Each one offers killer tech house material designed to get a floor bouncing but also hooked in with some smart samples. To kick off here, it's Suzanne Vega's silky and soulful tones that add soft edges to the razor-sharp tech drums and perc of 'Track 1.' It's fun and functional in equal measure. 'Track 2' is a succulent jazz house groove with instantly recognisible sax melodies and surging drums. The third and final piece of this irresistible puzzle is 'Track 3', another accomplished and effective house sound that has all the right ingredients to cut through and make its mark.

Review: Miami's Dancefloor Records, founded by British expat Jeffery Collins, looked to the growing club sounds emanating from Chicago and NYC and this series of reissues on Emotional Rescue concentrates on the label's early releases. From 1991 originally, Eighth Ray is said to be a project by a group of musician friends who went on to release under various pseudonyms. 'Axis Of Love' is the zeitgeist of a golden era in Italo house sounds, emotional and uplifting to the max. Over on the flip, the spaced-out and bumpin' NYC house influence on '8th Ray' has a sound that many modern producers try to emulate - massive bassline on this one so be warned!

Review: Andreas Gehm of Cologne returns with more lo-fi and nasty acid techno for brilliant Dutch imprint Panzerkreuz and it's everything that you'd expect from this eccentric fellow. They're all sure to please in their rusty and hissing glory but it's probably "Track 3" which is out favourite where Gehm proclaims through a helium induced voice "Im a freak, you're a freak.. we're all freaks!" and if you're still reading this, he's most probably right. If you are one of those people then get your ears around this superb new various artists 12". YokoO & Zone+ offer one of the standouts with 'Once I Had It"]' which pairs subtly swirling pads with cuddly deep drum loops. Hermanez has his kickstand with a little more weight but they are no less hypnotic, while Moya (US) brings some enchanting strings and yawning vocals to 'Meliora' and Electricano keeps it nice and warm and liquid with the supple loops of 'Universal Language.'

This debut 12" is a fierce four-track with different arts taking care of each aural assault, starting with Elektrabel. 'Sernafet' is a manic mix of loopy snares and pulsing synths, metallic drum sounds and sweeping filters. SPIDJ brings a little more heavyweight techno funk to 'Fuerza Analogica' and Akenaton then gets raw, dark and dirty with the industrial menace of 'Cambio De Actitud.' After dropping some well received long players as Alloy Sea Elian is now returning to her own name to develop her sound. The first four track EP of this new era is a brilliant one with brilliantly deft sound design, tracks that are rhythmically powerful but graceful; and elegant in design and moods that are nothing less than captivating. Review: It's been a while since something new from Dave Ellesmere surfaced, but the multifaceted artist has been tasked by the ever on-point Brothers' Vibe to lay down a few serious slabs of club tackle for Mixx Records. "Caught In A Moment" heads straight into tripped out techno territory, all urgent cyclical rhythm and head-teasing FX, but the mood is drastically different on the chord led 909 thumper "Universal Vibe". "From Now On Only Good Things Will Happen" once again channels the edgy Robert Hood style to great effect before Brothers' Vibe takes over for a deliciously dusty, meandering remix of "Universal Vibe".

Review: Yu Asaeda's been putting out a whole range of quality, bass-centric sounds under the name ENA since the late 2000s, but these have come out on a rather sporadic basis. Appearances for the infamous 7even Recordings was followed by material on Samurai Horo, the excellent Hidden Hawaii and, more recently, the Samurai label's offshoot, Horo. Divided: Body is so much more than a mere 'bass' EP, and it actually manages to veer off into some pretty strange and imperceptible sounds that remind us of the material emanating from the PAN consortium. For instance, the opening "11th Divided" manages to create a raw, loose groove out of fractured synth sounds, which is followed up nicely by the swarming drones operating in the higher ends of "12th Divided". Over on the flip, "13th Divided" launches a subtle yet hefty groove made up of what sound like bass pops made from a monophonic synth, which leaves "14th Divided" to linger in its dreary pool of fuzzy drones and washed-up sonics. Review: .Drumcode's sub series Drumcode Limited hits a 30th release this July as Oscar Escapa steps-up with three booming new cuts. There is no messing about here as the opener will sweep everything in its wake out of the way like a techno tsunami. It has urgent siren sounds and yelping vocals which add to the drama. 'Shake' has more hefty low ends that will rattle both ribs and walls and plenty of FX and percussive iciness adding to the intensity. 'Lights' shits down with a Millsian-style melodic techno mind melter. It's an urgent and arresting cut to close a fine EP. ,

Review: Escort's 'Cocaine Blues' is undoubtedly a 21st century disco classic -a peak-time ready riff on Dillinger's 'Cocaine in the Brain' and People's Choice's 'Do It Anyway You Wanna' that has been a mainstay in DJ sets for the last 12 years. These fresh versions do a decent job breathing new life into a familiar favourite. John Morales does a good job of joining the dots between disco and house on his EP opening multi-track remix, while band-member JKriv adds a little more weight and spacey synth noises aplenty on his similarly fine rework. Sheffield's Crooked Man take over on side B, first delivering a pitched-down revision blessed with jangling piano stabs ('Crooked Line 1'), before reaching for the squelchy synths and trippy noises on a slightly wilder take ('Crooked Line 2').

Review: The faultless Razor-N-Tape label has long been one to keep an eye on for fans of all forms of house, disco and plenty in between. This new one from Balearic man Max Essa with slow-motion maestro Eddie C is perfectly timed to arrive as days are getting longer and the sun is out more. It features four lush tunes that roll deep with languid chords, deft little funky guitar riffs and laidback vibes that douse you in all the feels. 'We Live In The Hills' is the standout for us with its fleshy synth work and a sprinkling of tropical percussion.

Review: Klasse Wrecks welcomes Robbert Heynan who is best known as one-half of the Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia, an act that very much set the temple for tribal techno in the early 90s. Their vast and vital body of work stands the test of time but they went their separate ways in 1992 to explore other projects. One of them was Excor, which saw Heynan put out some lesser-known tunes. The Chief EP is a hard-to-find outing from 1996 that has been remastered here and features the two original tunes next to two new and unheard versions.

Review: Berlin techno stalwart Fiedel serves up some more reissues of effective DJ tools on Fiedeltwo. This time around we have a 2021 Remaster of 'Doors To Manual' which was featured originally on Berghain (where he's resident) compilation Funf back in 2010. It's a typically wonky and off-kilter cut by him that showcases a truly singular approach to techno. Over on the flip, Kyiv's Espen Lauritzen contributed 'F/T/S' to Fiedel's very own mix for the esteemed Berlin club's mix series, the eighth to be precise, and it too gets a 2021 remaster. A pounding warehouse techno workout in the vein of classic Djax Up Beats, this one's serious.

Review: Coming at you on vibrant pink vinyl, Better Listen's First Class EP more than lives up to its' title. Check, for example, the screaming sax lines, life-affirming orchestral disco loops and bumping bottom end of Folamour's brilliant opener, "Oneness", and the bouncy disco-house positivity of Ari Bald's edit-not-edit "First Class", which is guaranteed to put smiles on faces on out on the dancefloor. Review: Greyscale unveils its latest endeavour, the Spectrum Series, as a way to continue to evolve its offerings and this time it is with something that makes a vibrant departure from its traditional black-and-white aesthetic. The inaugural release features the iconic Lithuanian dub track 'Kasdienybes Sventykla' by grad_u & Eazystyle MC as a way of commemorating its 15th anniversary. It came as a double CD in 2011 but now gets a first vinyl pressing on a nice 10" slab of wax. The track itself taps into the earliest roots of dub in the 70s and traces a line through the 80s with its heavyweight drums and endlessly echoing bass topped by great mic work. Review: On the latest instalment of Palm Beach Records' Secret series, regular contributor Fred Hush is once again at the controls. This time round, we not only get unheard original cuts but remixes, too - including Hush and Dimitri Andreas's stripped back but stomping, ever-building 'remake' of Emmanuel Top's 'Acid Phase'. There's plenty to set the pulse racing across the EP, from the sub-heavy, subtly bleep-influenced hedonism of techno roller 'Close Your Eyes', a riff-heavy, warehouse-ready old school techno re-wire of 'I Say' courtesy of Noeda, and a ridiculously heavy, rave-igniting re-imagining of the same track by Klaudia Gawlas that could be compared positively to the work of Amelie Lens.

Review: Ohm Records once again come through with the heat, doing the utmost justice to our favourite letter of the Greek alphabet with four slapping deep dubby, subby, wubby tech house cuts. We highly recommend Anton Kubikov's 'Azimut' and Module One's 'Inside The Chamber', both of which chuck echoic on beds of great scaping pads, like hallucinatory angels skirting across heat-hazed horizons.

Review: Toronto label Selections has become a firm favourite with house heads and now starts a nice sideline with its Special Edition 2023 series. This one welcomes Lea Lisa with her track 'Conversation Between Us' (Heide Club Mix) which is straight up underground house for the heads. Then comes an unreleased Javonntte remix of Evenn's 'One For Love' that pairs things back to raw dub essentials. Dan Only's 'Love Saturates' then gets a fine and formerly unreleased remix by Italy's Black Loops that has pristine drum programming and a fine bassline. Add in Sean Roman's jazzy dancer 'Sir William' and Jamn Ensemble's 'Convection' and you have a timeless house EP.

Review: The young Soul Touch Productions label knocks it out of the park once more with this new 12" featuring Motor City royals at the top of their game. Terrence Parker kicks off with the beautifully uplifting 'Tonight We Luv' with its streaming and soulful melodies and nice smooth drum loops. Drummer B then steps up with the mad piano action and slamming house of 'In My Zone' (feat Javonntte) and last of all, the man so often left out of the early history of Detroit's underground, Eddie Fowlkes, comes through with a spine-tingling vocal deep house delight in the form of 'Hold Me Down'.

Review: Melbourne's Pugilist opens the proceedings on Modern Hypnosis's third various artists EP. It is the sort of hi fidelity and rhythmic precise techno that you might find on labels like Livity Sound. 'Flip Trix' is couched in plenty of warming dub undercurrents with upright drums and funky percussive patterns. Henry Greenleaf then goes into overdrive with his double time and mind-melting drum programming on the frenzied 'Stopper Knot' and Ebb shuts down with the broken rhythms and raved up synth fizz of 'GTAM' to make for an adventurous EP indeed.

Review: Smokey and mysterious Dutch dance from Immaterial.Archives, who here nail a sound that falls neatly in between something made by Burial and I.O Mulen. A compilation EP for the more nocturnal and detail-hungry listener, it includes Quelza's 'La Panthere Bleue', which contains guttural backalley groans and lighter-flicks; Eric Fletcher's control-room trancer 'Spiral 176'; 'Forma No Pura' by Oscar Mulero, with pressurized pink noise aplenty; and Divide's 'Nemesi', which judders and stop-starts like the cross-planetary calls of an alien race.

Review: Leng Records' 59th release is something a little different: a very personal collection of largely obscure and hard-to-find gems, mostly created by European pop producers in the late '70s and early '80s, from artist and record collector Paul Beckett. Firmly Balearic and sun-soaked in tone, there's plenty to set the pulse racing throughout. For proof, first check Ray & John's 'Day By Day (Instrumental), which sounds like Please-era Pet Shop Boys reclining at a pool party in Rimini, before admiring the space rock/synth-pop fusion of 'Angelo' by Angel'o. Over on the flip, Beckett offers up three more slices of glassy-eyed goodness, with the loved-up deep synth pop of Angel and the fretless bass-sporting wooziness of Eggs Time standing out.
