Acid Mondays - "Fomo"
Sean Thomas - "Fantasizer"
DJ Ali - "Park Your Mind"
Garry Todd - "Dice Me Up"
Review: You know when a vinyl arrives with dizzying artwork, artist names like Acid Mondays and track titles like "Dice Me Up" that you've simply gotta give it a listen. And so it proves here, with the debut release on Illusion Recordings. First up Acid Mondays - aka Dan Ward - drops "Fomo", which effortlessly weaves beefy club drums, piston-pumping chords, cleverly arranged vocal snippets and a bulging bassline for house jam that winks knowingly towards the old school. This shares the A-Side with Sean Thomas's "Fantasizer", with the Philly producer locking in a groove that wallows in the deep end. DJ Ali and Garry Todd share the honours on the flip, with the former opting for a crisp tech house flex while the latter goes for an 80s e-funk tip, utilising a killer disco sample along the way. A nice debut for Illusion - more of the same please!

In The (Last) Moment (11:25)
In The (Last) Moment (Robag Ponk Pramen NB remix) (8:02)
Review: Barcelona-based tech house heroes Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito are back. This time for Damian Lazarus' esteemed Crosstown Rebels imprint with "In The (Last) Moment". The track is equally esoteric as it is atmospheric in the tradition of the label's new sound and perfect for drifting. The woozy, journey like aesthetic is only intensified by Georgia Lewis' hypnotising vocal efforts. On the lip we've got added dance floor drama and cerebral stimulus courtesy of the master himself Robag Wruhme; who as always turns in an emotive and bittersweet epic on "In The (Last) Moment (Robag Ponk Pramen NB remix)" complete with his trademarks: glitchy sound design, beautiful string arrangements and the usual Midas touch for pure deepness.

Here we get upfront and fun electro house from Giom, Bleep District, YSE and Roland Nights, offering consolation for those of use who didn't get the chance to wallow in the late winter sun at the industry party fest.

Brothers' Vibe - "Lonliness"
Eddie Merced - "Midtown Cruisin'"
Tominori Hosoya - "Paradise"
George P - "Deep Space"
Review: Astute wax enthusiast Brothers' Vibe brings forth the third installment of his Mixx Split series, meant to cast light on what the multi-label boss is notorious for: soulful house music! Also signing the opening track 0.95Lonliness', the American prodigy takes us on a deep incursion, skillfully layering classic house beats over uplifting sounds into a heart racing groove. Newcomer Eddie Merced follows up with a deep and dreamy offering, infusing trancy vibes into a futuristic bassline for a full 6:29 minutes of 'Midtown Cruisin''. Delving further into the deep ambient realm, Japanese producer Tominori Hosoya doles out some tribal sounds for his spatial track "Paradise". Closing tune "Deep Space" gives away just a bit of the surprise in its title, as George P injects his signature Tech House oomph in a contrasting murky bassline.

Aroy Dee - "Leegte" (5:29)
Gilbert - "Furthest Planet" (7:26)
Jonski - "Venusian Surface" (6:23)
DJ Guy - "Aphelion Orbit" (5:56)
Review: The fourth multi-artist EP from blog-turned-record label Innate takes the imprint's inherently warm and far-sighted sound into new intergalactic directions. Offering a quartet of cuts from established producers and rising stars, all inspired by dreams of cross-cosmic travel and the alluring weightlessness of deep space. 004 explores the love of stargazing electronics in much greater deapth.

The A-side is all about melodious and spacey electro with Dutch legend Aroy Dee making a rare appearance away from his acclaimed M>O>S Recordings label. "Leegte" A1 is impressively immersive, cloaking a jaunty bassline and lo-fi beats in sumptuous aural textures and glassy-eyed chords. Accompanied by Innate label regular Gilbert, "Furthest Planet" A2 is a deep roller whose lilting lead lines, shimmering electronics and tumbling acid lines are little less than life-affirming.

On side B, the sound subtly shifts towards the multi-coloured, sci-fi shimmer of techno. Newcomer Jonski, (aka Bristol electro producer Zobol) drops "Venusian Surface" B1 - a classic interstellar jam full of vivid chords, echoing synth squiggles and alluring leads that rise above a classic tech-funk bassline. Last but not least, effervescent Welshman DJ Guy (Unthank/Other World Music) slams down an energetic techno stomper in "Aphelion Orbit": boasting brilliantly breathless drum programming, illuminated by the celestial shimmer of accompanying chords. A perfect conclusion to Innate's most action-packed release to date.

The Devil's Eyes (Christopher Rau remix)
The Devil's Eyes (original)
The Devil's Eyes (Bleak's Bete Noire remix)
Review: Justin Drake from Peace Division teams up again with Canadian Tsuba artist Kevin Griffiths for some throwback jacking techno business on Fear Of Flying. "The Devil's Eye" begins in quite simple fashion, dropping dubbed stabs over a booming kick; it's when the driving warm bass hits that you're hooked. From here the duo etch out a mid 90s Schatrax jacking groove which locks in for the duration. Smallville's Christopher Rau and newcomer Bleak are called on to remix the track, with the former retaining the jacking beats though twisting them towards something approaching deep house, with some gloriously warm pads rising to the fore as the track progresses. In contrast Bleak reimagines the track as a dark stomp through the machinations of peak time techno punctuated by a reverberant rhythmic thrust akin to the tracks on his debut for Sudden Drop.

The Green Man (Capracara remix)
Dirk Bogarde
Review: Launched earlier this year after several successful years of East London parties, the Disco Bloodbath imprint are clearly set on a path to promote the musical talents that's been cultivating around them. This third release on the labels sees the lesser spotted G&S return with their first material since appearances on Dissident (RIP) and In Flagranti's Codek imprint back in 09. A collaborative project between Say Yes resident Nadia Ksaiba and Matt Waites of Call Super, Moscow and Nightmoves repute, the G&S sound is based around a weighty yet eminently danceable manipulation of analogue gear which is executed with aplomb on lead track "Green Man". The duo's predilection for disco is very much evident in the tonalities of this track, but it's blended with a tough 808 grit that will appeal to Dissident fans. Juno favourite Capracara appears on the B-Side with a flipping great remix of "Green Man" that expertly imbues some house buoyancy into proceedings without sacrificing any of the original's crystalline charms, while G&S finish off with the Bloodbath anthem in the making "Dirk Bogarde".

Guiding Light
It's Not An Artform Just Beats
Review: The always classy deep house emporium Boe recently uncovered a gem of Ukrainian production talent with The First Transition EP from the previously unheralded G-Transition. Wisely the label have secured some more well paced house movements from the mysterious producer with this highly limited ten inch, snappily titled The Second Transition. Lead track "Guiding Light" is so slow it feels ever so slightly dragging at 45rpm! Don't be put off though, as the laid back pace and simple drum programming consisting of little more than delayed congas and shuffling hats allows the expertly arranged layers of harmonious synth, Rhodes, analogue bass and strings the chance glisten. Less is more on the flip as "It's Not An Artform, Just Beats" lives up to its name with a little more than a rasping groove and gently expressive arpeggiated lead floating over a restrained backdrop of fizzing atmosphere.

Fans of his "100% GALCHER" promo mix will immediatedly recognize the tracks on this release, which have been re-mixed and calibrated for club play. Soul Control (Palms Trax remix) (5:51)
Review: Back in 2014 Galcher Lustwerk and Palms Trax were both emergent artists making their first tentative steps into the scene. While they may be thoroughly distinct in their sounds, they found some crossover in an exchange of remixes, with Lustwerk's take on "Forever" appearing on Lobster Theremin. Palms Trax returned the favour with a version of Lustwerk's "Soul Control" which never saw the light of day until now. While it's certainly redolent of the earlier phase of Palms Trax's career, the effervescent musicality at the heart of the release is still completely in step with Palmsy as we know and love him today, replete with Lustwerk's inimitable laconic vocal delivery over the top.

Uvolnenie
Review: Having already made a strong connection with the ever-excellent Udacha label, Russian duo Gamayun now take their talents to Hesperian Sound Division to unfurl more of their delicate, richly musical creations. "Golden Ratio" leads in on stunning jazz piano refrains, edging threads of percussion into the mix with poise that sets Gamayun apart from the rest of the crowd. "Ascension" takes things in a more cosmic direction, all swooping and swooning synth lines beamed in from a distant star. "Untitled" has a more lazy, blues-minded attitude, while "Uvolnenie" edges a little more techno influence into the mix, but truly this is space-age music played by musicians with genuine chops.

Review: Surely one of the finest record labels operating out of Russia right now, Udacha welcomes Gamayun back for a second time to admirably dive into the particular spirit that surrounds the label. Somewhere between loose-fit soulful house grooves you might hear on Downbeat and a more mystical, far-out spirit, this mysterious producer is a dab hand at weaving a particularly enchanting spell. The jazzy fluidity of "C-Music" could easily sit alongside some of Vakula's more wayward works, while "Aerial Dance" pirouettes off into an abstract rhythmic space that truly stimulates even as it confuses. Records this fresh-sounding don't roll around every day.

Review: Armed with a dusty old disco loop and whole cupboard full of weird and wonderful analogue machines, German deep houser Garben is on fine form here as "Romantic Archive" chugs with a slightly trippy sense of mischief. Remix-wise Tusk steps up with a lethal cosmic injection that sends us way out of orbit. Elsewhere "Komm" takes a more meandering, warped route as we're washed with phased chords that soak us in pitch-bending bliss. "Night Poser" finishes the set with yet more wonky glee. Deep twinkles and lolloping bassline provide a firm foundation for the seasick synths to flutter over.

Review: Aubrey's Don Gardon alias was a one-shot decoy deployed in 1997 with the now highly sought-after "Textures" 12" on Aubrey's own Textures label. While the provenance of these new tracks is a little foggy at this stage, what you can be sure of is the grade of techno we're dealing with here. Aubrey's illustrious career speaks for itself, and so do these tracks in the first Textures release since 2001. "The Phase" is an effervescent, funk laced race to the stars, while "Vari Tube" takes a more intimate route through dusty house that wouldn't sound out of place in the Workshop stratosphere. "Slam Dunk" is a cheeky, jazzy affair while "Dons Slide" gets a little more freaky and far out in the finest tradition of B2 tracks.

Jonse (3:54)
Review: Manchester's Garth Be is up next on esteemed London based imprint Wolf Music. This is his latest release since last year's Law Of Fives EP on Ruf Kutz. Much like fellow homeboy and elder statesman Trus'Me, he channels the dusty, soulful and emotive sounds of the Motor City like that of Kenny Dixon Jr and Theo Parrish et al and even sneaks in a few cheeky disco edits like on the intro "Feelin To Be". On the evocative "Pashun" we have a right wicked jam packed full of tight and dusty rhythms, neon-lit synths and emotive chord progressions. The late night deepness of "Allens" is another worthy addition to this collection of fine tunes, as is the off-kilter minimal electro of "Jodisho" and the absolutely saturated lo-fi/slo-mo bliss of "Jonse".

How Can I Get To Sleep
Review: Simone Gatto has been working tirelessly to build up his catalogue of deep, thoughtfully crafted techno expressions - with albums on Out-Er, Pregnant Void and Sheik N' Beik, not to mention plenty of singles and EPs too, he's done a fine job of establishing himself as a singular voice in the techno thoroughfare. This latest 12" comes courtesy of Finale Sessions, who coax out some of the deeper material in Gatto's arsenal. There's heads down dubbiness to immerse yourself in on "Melodies From The Hearth," craftily filtered house abstractions on "Foot Tapping Mix" and the very Finale-esque smooth out of "How Can I Get To Sleep."

Review: There's some crafty wonkiness afoot on the second offering from Gauss on their self-titled imprint. While it's not at the expense of ear-snagging melodic licks and decisive propulsion, "Schwarzgerat" maximises on offbeat hat and snare placement to make a head-turning groove that should appeal to all off-kilter techno spinners. "F(X)" has its own curious kink in the drums, taking a slower route peppered with snappy square wave ripples and a mystical ambience draped around the sharp beat, before "Quadratic Forms" finishes the EP off with a broad-sweeping, grain-spattered drone piece with nostalgic 80s orchestrations and expressive filter sweeps to get ambient heads quivering with excitement.
