Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. His usual raw style pervades from the off with the well swung drums and bumping kicks of the title track soon to get you in the groove. His signature diffuse synth work is what brings warmth and soul to the dusty drums of 'Track 2' while 'Sarabi' ups the pace with a more hurried groove and pent up sense of party joy. Review: Kyle Hall treats us to a new and special pressing of his standout Equanimity EP which was last reissued back in 2020. This one comes on limited edition translucent teal vinyl and was initially put out to mark the ten-year anniversary of Detroit native Hall's own Wild Oats label. In that decade he has established it as one of his hometown's finest for dusty deep house explorations. The four tracks on it are just that with a whimsical melody over bumpy beats on the opener, then more zoned-out beats on '4wrd Motion' and glitchy kicks and hits on 'No More Moon'. Last of all is the star-gazing cosmic house of 'Ghosten 4 A 2nd X'. A timeless EP for sure.

Review: Moscow Records boss Archie Hamilton appears this time on Enzo Siragusa's Fuse London imprint with these slices of rolling, Latin-infused tech-house for the beach party. This is the kind of stuff that lovers of Mindshake and Rawthentic will be all over. First up "Mind Blank" brings the tough yet sultry attitude that you could imagine playing peak time at Amnesia. "Works On Sunday" takes the tempo down a notch or two for something more suited to the afterhours, but just as sexy. There's also a remix of this on the flip by none other than label boss Siragusa with Seb Zito keeping the afterhours vibe intact but with a druggier, minimal take on things.

He is charged with tackling Harks & Mudd's 'Susta' and turns out two versions. His opening remix is all grown up Balearic sounds. Gentle percussion is scattered over the leggy house drums, noodling Rhodes chords bring colour and a breathy female vocal layers in the sun kissed soul. It's an immediate classic. On the flip comes his dub, which is more fleshy and elastic, but with just as much soul and warmth.

During that time, he tried his hand at stand up comedy, kept a social media presence in the form of shared videos featuring him bursting into song, and evidently spent a fair amount of time recharging. After all, you don't make albums with the energy of Homosexual, the comeback piece, if you're running on empty.

Review: Strap in for this one because Head Front Panel is here to rattle you to your foundations with another uncompromising EP of groove-driven techno. This is proudly linear, functional tackle but it comes with great sound designs and high-class ideas. Review: Head High is a ling running alias of Polish techno producer Shed. It's for his more loopy and emotional sounds and has always been popular with DJs. This new EP is a mighty fine return that offers three track sou steamy, summer ready action for sunset and sundown sessions. 'Break Away' has fizzing synth lines and dusty drums with well placed vocals up top. 'Push It!' comes on much stronger, with harder drums and more prickly percussion but another fine vocal that adds that touch of emotion. Last of all is 'Chamber No 6', another dark cut with tightly programmed drums loops, scratching hits and a menacing bassline backlit by diffuse chords.

Review: While best known for their funk and soul reissues, Dynamite Cuts do frequently dig deeper and look further afield for musical inspiration. They're at it again here, offering up a lavishly packaged "45" featuring two killer cuts from Brazilian saxophonist and flautist Hector Costita's jazz-funk/jazz-fusion album 1981 (which, you guessed it, was first released in 1981). A-side 'Avessos' is warming, gentle and groovy, with Costita's jaunty sax motifs rising above a samba-jazz beat, restless triangle percussion and some seriously toasty electric piano lines. 'Divagacao' is a more up-tempo nd rhythmically interesting affair that reminded us of Azymuth while also boasting some genuinely dazzling sax solos.

Review: Ron Henderson released only one album with his Choice of Colour band, and that was Soul Junction in 1976. The North Carolina-based singer-songwriter has become an object of cult admiration over the years which is what might explain how an original of that album can often go for upwards of $800 at auctions. The 2020 P-Vine reissue soon sold out and included an extra single from 1983, 'Gemini Lady.' It is that which now gets pressed up to its own 7". It comes with the same label design as the original with a special jacket to make it even more of a collector's item.

Review: Darker Than Wax welcomes back Malik Hendricks for a new EP that was recorded in Brooklyn in 2020 and 2021 by the American-born, Lisbon-based producer. And it marks something of a shift in his musical journey as he moves away from the sample-heavy sound he is known for and towards more organic grooves with hints of Midwest funk and techno. There is an electro flavour to the opener, sleazy ghetto house flourish to 'Fiyahverkx' and broken beat minimalism to 'Totem.' The Sexy Mix of Higher Level's 'Sax Maniac' opens up with loopy sax lines and throwback drums in a tune that is easy to love. Review: This is one of those man-old 45rpms that can still command eye wateringly high prices on second-hand sales markets. It was a real favourite of the rare soul scene thanks to be popularised by Mark "Butch" Dobson at the start of his DJ adventures. It has remained true illusive over the years but this reissue from Soul Direction Origins changes all that. On the a-side is Hank Hodge & The J Notes Band's 'Eye for An Eye' which is an upbeat soul burner with big horn arrangements and plenty of interaction between the male lead and female chorus on the backing. Next up is this previously unissued 60s soul groover from Eddie Holman which has until now been lost in the belongings of legendary Philly producer, musician and songwriter John Stiles. Review: Howard Lemon Singers was an incredible group back in the 70s. They released a very rare and much sought-after album Seasons released on the legendary TK Records subsidiary Gospel Roots back in '77 and this 7" offers up two of the best tracks from it. Both tracks bring good vibes and positive sentiments with real harmony found between secular and spiritual sounds. The group managed to modernize the gospel sound as they went with 'You Are Somebody' being a modern soul heater that will have heart, body and mind in a spin. 'For The Children' then slows down and brings lush 'wacka-wacka' guitar under aching vocals.

Review: The Ranges label has really found its, yep, range over the course of its first dozen or so relies and this 15th is another gem. It is a return to the imprint for Hydergine who once again draws on a rich vein of dub techno history and reworks it into his own new rhythms and arrangements. The opener is a classically infused sound to get things going and after 'Entangle' there are more broken beat patterns to 'Spectrum' and a pulsing sense of edgy undercurrent to 'Introspection.' 'Perception' is the most sparse of the lot and also gets a Resoe remix that has deft synths darting about the mix.

Review: Two Arista classics from 79/78 respectively, the cult (not to mention heavily sampled) charms of Pittsburgh soul queen Hyman are presented immaculately right here on this heavyweight vinyl double-A. Review: Firmly Rooted has done a great job of rolling outage rhythms over the last couple of years. The release rate and quality levels have remained high with the likes of breakout Leeds artist Breakface impressing back in May. Now, 18 months or so after their last outing, Ickle & Hotsteppas are back on the label with some more fresh dubs. First up, 'No Love, No Peace' Ft Prince Jaco is a big, fresh roller with great height and serious bass weight. The dub strips things back to melon-twisting echo and reverb and 'Mr Government' (feat Lionpulse) is an organic dub with brilliantly elastic bass. Review: The second part of the Remember The Future series from the Greek label To Pikap is another 12" packed with electro goodness form an array of exciting artists. LEGACY opens up with 'Nom De Guerre' with its magnificently lithe and chrome plated rhythms dancing about over crunchy analogue drums. Review: The Third Room concludes its so far excellent various artists series with a third and final instalment of yet more future-facing and heady cosmic techno. Justine Perry kicks things off with the deep space synths and paired back hypnosis of 'Diversion' while Hadone then bangs a little harder with 'Strain Relief' which has twitchy synth motifs and hard, hammering beats. HWRD's 'Mirage' is a buoyant techno bouncer with loopy synth ringlets all interacting with each other to mind-melting effect and Quelza's 'Domino' dips into deepest of dub techno territory to shut down a nice diverse EP.

Review: Prince Fatty's 'Mercedes Benz' with Shniece and Horseman is a rub-a-dub version of a 1970s hit from Janis Joplin that now gets a very special pressing courtesy of Lovedub Limited. The A-side kicks off with the spine-tingling and epic original vocal before disappearing into a world of reverb. At that point the dubby low end arrives and brings a different vibe to the stunning vocals but one that really makes a mark next to new bars from Horseman, police sirens and funky riffs. It's a tough sound system groove that is backed with a fine version and has been a firm fixture of Prince Fatty's record box for a while now.

Review: Vienna's Florian Stoffelbauer is the man behind the Heap alias. He uses it sporadically to drop cultured deep techno on labels like Mechatronica and Neubau and has done for around six years now. This new long player is the first we have heard from him in almost three years but it has been worth the wait. False Hope on Canadian label Isla is slow and snaking techno with icy atmospheres and a sleek sense of futurism. It's stylish in design and heady in mood with standouts like 'Inner Peace' drawing you into a world of intrigue and mystery. The title track brings lush cosmic melodies over gentle kick patterns and somehow soothes the mind, body and soul. Nice work indeed.

Emerging from the ashes of Talulah Gosh, and eventually evolving into Marine Research following the death of Mathew Fletcher in 1996, for the uninitiated, think poetic lyrical delivery with punchy observational lines and stressed but harmonious guitar riffs that envelop the listener, combining to define a sonic space that's somewhere between Trash Kit, Garbage and Hinds, only with a thick sugar coating. Releasing just four albums in their time, what's here is a great insight into their catalogue and a good jumping off point for what happened before, and next.

Review: Jamaican-born, Maryland resident Hiero announces his talent with a debtor EP that offers a hazy and lo-fi trip into hip-hop beats and wavy grooves. It is seductive and sublime, stylish and effortless in its blurred lines and imperfect drums, with guest appearances from the always on form West London-based MC Lord Apex, plus XXL Freshmen and Interscope Records' artist Charles Hamilton.
