Review: The debut LP from the Raconteurs, released in May 2006. Serving as most fans' introduction to the band, Broken Boy Soldiers is the home for such canonical classics as 'Blueveins', 'Hands' and the anthemic 'Steady, As She Goes'. Such hits went so far as to charm even stalwart director, Jim Jarmusch, to direct a mystical music video for the lattermost song, owing to his penchant for music with a looming, bluesy edge, an aesthetic which the band had by then nailed. Railing against the predominant order of the day - steady living, unquestioned teleologies - the Raconteurs successfully delivered and now re-deliver a compelling, authentic Detroit blues rock project, best, it must be said, known as a latter-day effort by the one and only Jack White and friends.

Review: "In Rainbows", Radiohead's seventh album, finally gets a physical release! It's one thing downloading this landmark album, but to actually hold this is something special. Not only do you get increased sound quality, but you also get the amazing artwork from Stanley Donwood. This album includes "Nude", a live favourite for many years that was originally written during the "OK Computer" sessions. More minimal that their "Kid A" period, "In Rainbows" does something that very few albums have done - its sound is distinct from previous Radiohead albums, but is still clearly Radiohead. Hail to the kings, they are back on top form.

'Kid A Mnesia' itself is an 'album mashup' between their two albums Kid A and Amnesia; both projects are remastered and released side-by-side on the same LP. It doesn't stop there: for the fanatics, there's an exclusive third disc, Kid Amnesiae, which contains formerly unheard material both recording sessions, as well as Kid Amnesiette, a cassette of B-sides. This ultra-deluxe edition is, decidedly, one for the ultra-fans. Besides the radical electronic fever dreams making up both projects, this version contains the never-before-heard song 'If You Say The Word' on the bonus CD. Review: 2014 was a tumultuous period for Polachek as she and her band grew apart; She wanted to create an aesthetic world, make the band dress better and invest in visuals. Needless to say, the 2010s indie band Chairlift wasn't entirely on board. Polachek was creatively parched and set about a production career, producing 'Arcadia' on her laptop whilst on tour using only MIDI instruments, laptop microphone and field recordings (like on the atmospheric 'Hissing Pipes at Dawn'). This period continued with Polachek beginning to perform in small venues in New York under different names, donning a blonde fringed wig and creating an expansive, yet quaint universe that would unquestionably influence the creating of her breakout solo debut 'Pang' 5 years later. Arcadia spans from ambient medieval-esque wind sections to zany strings that conjure up gusts billowing through green pastures with blue skies overhead. 'Dominic' has stood the test of time as the most popular of the tracks, a relationship that's a 'perfect disaster'. Highlights are the organ-led 'Backwards & Upwards' on purging infatuation, stepping backwards to move upwards as Polachek puts it, and 'Lady's Got Gills' with its whistles and what may be a blend of harp, yangqin and guzheng that backs a story of a woman contained. Arcadia is lo-fi cinematic, in a sentence, and a must listen to Polachek fans.

Review: In the early explosion of millennial indie-dance, The Rapture were surely one of the best. It helps their roots were in spikier realms on Sub Pop before they connected with James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy. The combination was potent, and Echoes was the dazzling result, with knockout hits like 'House Of Jealous Lovers' and 'Sister Saviour' offset by an album which never misses a beat whichever direction it heads in. 20 years on, it's as brilliantly inventive and downright kick ass as it was upon release, capturing an exciting time when DFA represented a new vanguard in dance music and indie alike.

Review: Whilst The Raveonettes' ten-year career to date has largely consisted of variations on a theme (namely a glamorously simplistic boy/girl take on Phil Spector through a wall of fuzz, with nods naturally to the Jesus & Mary Chain) 'Pe'ahi' shows them stretching themselves out beyond both the pop song format and their usual garagey instrumentation, and it's a departure that suits them. The duo of Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo, with the help of producer Justin Meldal-Johnson (Nine Inch Nails, M83) delve into hip-hop beats, walls of sampled noise, harps and choirs, yet their ear for a hook and their pop sensibility never ceases to shine through the chaos. Not only their most adventurous, but also their most personal record to date, this is the sound of a band expanding their comfort zone with style.
