EYA 006 (140 gram vinyl double 12")
Eya
Cat: EYA 006. Rel: 07 Oct 19
Techno
  1. Innershades - "Deep In Space" (5:48)
  2. Innershades - "Operator Select" (4:35)
  3. Two Phase U - "It's Done" (7:50)
  4. Two Phase U - "No Agenda" (7:02)
  5. Otis - "Binary Phase" (7:27)
  6. Otis - "Nainoreprami" (6:37)
  7. Zots - "Sweep" (4:52)
  8. Zots - "Klyaksa" (4:25)
Review: EYA Records presents a double 12" of plush techno and house spanning styles, giving four producers the chance to showcase the breadth of their sound with two tracks each. Innershades brings emotive 90s swoon and peppy acid to the A side, before Two Phase U slips in a little uptempo robo-disco sauce and a feisty jack track. Otis takes things in the direction of wiggy proto-trance and bleep techno, and then Zots finishes up with freaky synth work dripping with mischievous personality. This is a set of tracks that demands to be noticed - don't sleep.

Formes 001 (double 12")
Cat: CLAQUE 019. Rel: 05 Jan 90
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Oscar - "BB" (5:36)
  2. Iuly.B - "Alien Acid" (7:22)
  3. Carola Pisaturo - "Ganzirri" (6:40)
  4. The Hush - "Twins" (7:12)
  5. The Museri - "Brown Cat" (7:06)
  6. Federico Grazzini - "Owl" (6:14)
  7. Calma - "Cenere" (5:44)
  8. Analog Inside - "Deep Time 808" (8:32)
Review: It would be fair to say that Claque Musique, a freshly minted outlet for tactile tech-house, skewed deep house and otherworldly techno, has hit the ground running. Their debut release is something of an epic, featuring eight tried-and-tested cuts stretched across two slabs of wax. There's plenty of subtle variety on show throughout - compare, for example, the hissing percussion, jaunty synth bass and trippy spoken word vocals of Carola Pisaturo's "Ganzirri" and the jazzy, dub-flecked deep house shuffle of "Cenere" by Calma - plus a swathe of notable highlights. This include the spacey machine funk of Analog Inside's wonderful "Deep Time '88" and the psychedelic acid madness of Iuly B's "Alien Acid", whose delay-laden percussion hits are particularly wonky.

  1. A Little Church In Amsterdam (5:55)
  2. Blossoming Limburg (feat Mahfoud) (4:59)
  3. Night Owl (3:53)
  4. Kollwitzplatz (5:55)
  5. Places (feat Mahfoud) (4:32)
  6. Underwater Rhapsody (5:06)
Review: More ethereal deep house from a talented Cologne based producer. Thyladomid (real name Charles Thiemann) presents his second full length following up 2015's Interstellar Destiny on Diynamic. It features some lush selections indeed: from the hypnotic bell melody of opener "A Little Church In Amsterdam" which you could imagine Lee Burridge playing at a Los Angeles rooftop party, through to the bittersweet and pop-inflected melancholia of "Blossoming Limburg" featuring some magnificent vocals by Mahfoud. You really get to hear how much diversity there is this talented young producer's sonic repertoire from here. Take "Kollwitzplatz" for instance, which merges charming neoclassical elements with trippy minimal techno aesthetics, or the bittersweet symphony on the ecstatic closer "Underwater Rhapsody". Keep your eyes on Thyladomid moving forward in 2018.

Stills (12")
Cat: DIAL 062. Rel: 05 Mar 12
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Stills
  2. The Afternoon Grid
  3. Breezy
  4. Hunter
Review: Utilising the skills he learned mixing tracks for the likes of Pole and Pantha Du Prince, Kassian Troyer delivers his new EP, Stills, on Dial. The record opens with the sumptuous title track, featuring beautifully shuffling hi-hats and a subtle yet mesmerising synth progression. "The Afternoon Grid" offers more of the same, gently building a dazzling listening experience that delivers sheer aural serenity. "Breezy" takes things a bit deeper, and slightly darker, moving the rhythm with a swelling bass line accompanied by the distinct shuffle of stripped down garage aesthetics. "Hunter" slows everything down, closing out the record as blissfully as it began; Troyer using the tempo to open up masses of space and filling it with delicate, sparkling house.

  2. Zendid - "Radio Polo" (7:14)
  3. Sonodab - "Triggwork" (7:27)
  4. Seuil - "Rob In The Hood" (6:23)
  5. Baraso - "Howls" (7:43)
  6. TC80 - "Forest Temple" (5:57)
  7. Alex Picone - "Sunday" (6:30)
Review: Since 2014, Spain's Park & Ride label have been offering a truly outstanding selection of collaborative releases from the finest talents of the deeper side of contemporary tech-house. This time, they return with the Paris compilation, driven by the sounds of some of Europe's finest. Among our favourites on here, we have the opener, Saverio Celestri's majestic "Interstellar", a hybrid trip between house and industrial electro that sounds as if it were cut straight from the machines through which it was conceived; "Rob In The Hood" by Seuil is another sublime slice of grainy, stripped-back dance music with a clear ode to the coldwave scene, and Alex Picone's "Sunday" provides a charming, graceful analogue house cut with a broken rhythm and some glorious background sonic manipulation. Yes.

7 Years & Three Quarters Of Albion (140 gram vinyl double 12")
Cat: ALB 010. Rel: 14 Oct 19
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. Jordan Magee - "Semantics"
  2. Henry Hyde - "Forgot Your Name"
  3. Samuel Allot - "Isolate"
  4. Christian Jay - "Restive"
  5. TC80 - "Albion"
  6. Cedric Dekowski & Felix Reifenberg - "Circacarno"
  7. Phil Evans - "Hazard"
  8. Christian Ab - "Starlight D-Lite"
Review: The lads behind Albion Records know a thing or two about where to look for fresh steps forwards in the minimal, house and techno scenes. After last year's Gab Jr release, they're finally back to hit number 10 with a double pack compilation that sets in stone what the label is all about. There's a lot to dig into here, but some of the standouts include the sharp and sneaky "Forgot Your Name" by Henry Hyde, the Boogizm-goes-electro freakery of Christian Jay's "Restive" and the swinging jazz surrealism of Phil Evans' "Hazard". With more than a little garage shuffle hovering over this release, it's set to be another huge one in all corners of the minimal tech house scene.

Review: Audiomatique are happy and proud to present "The Trentemoller Chronicles". This new double album is not a new studio album, but an overview of Trentemoller's impressive body of work. "The Trentemoller Chronicles" include Anders' personal selection of his best songs and remixes, which have only been available on vinyl or on compilations, as well as some new and exclusive songs. This is an essential piece of minimal/tech house.
