When Soulwax adopted their 2 Many DJs alias for the landmark As Heard On Radio Soulwax series, they heralded a new era of genre-hopping, headsy blending that was fun and fearless in equal measure. It's absolutely of its time, capturing the electroclash zeitgeist and throwing in crowd-pleasing pop nous without diluting the product, and quite simply Pt 2 is one of the best party sets you're ever likely to hear. Released in 2002 and sounding as fresh and inspired as it did 20 years ago, this is an essential item for anyone who takes the art of the mash-up seriously.

Review: For their second release, Brussels-based Undo Seat Belts enlist French artist Victor Gaudin (also known as Cepren Synth) to serve up an eight track album of cold wave synth magic. It is made up of tracks produced over the last five years, all recorded live at the artist's home, with no post-edits and no cuts. These fuzzy analog wave and synth jams lure you into a melancholic world of hazy memories and forgotten loves. The spoken word vocals are often a little obscured but still help load up the album with extra emotional turmoil. There are moments of post-punk angst and tension on tracks like 'I Just Want To Live With You' and then sludgy, downbeat tracks like 'I Gotta Say' amongst many other highlights.

Review: Sky Girl is the work of two noted (but arguably under-appreciated) crate diggers, DJ Sundae and Julien Dechery, and gathers together a veritable treasure trove of obscure material loosely connected by (in the label's own words) "the same longing sentiment". Its' fifteen tracks touch on a variety of hazy, down-tempo styles, and were recorded at various points between 1961 and '91. There's much to admire throughout, from the folksy psychedelic pop of The Rising Storm's "Frozen Laughter", and spoken word eccentricity of Scott Seskind's "I Remember", to the dreamy, eyes-closed ambience of Nini Raviolette & Hugo Weris' "Slow" and string-laden samba-folk of Nora Guthrie's "Home Before Dark".

Review: Whatever criticisms can be levelled at The Flaming Lips, one could never accuse them of lacking balls. Few bands would attempt a full-length remake of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band, and fewer still would do so by throwing as much gloriously nightmarish psychedelic experimentation as they can muster at these much-loved songs, and then by getting Miley Cyrus in for a guest appearance. Yet the fact that Wayne Coyne and his henchmen have done just that is testimony to the beauty of his longstanding freakshow, and the fact that this irreverent, haphazard and mercurial piece of work manages to be a treat in its own right all the more so. A kaleidoscopic triumph against considerable odds.

Review: McCartney III was the18th solo album by legendary musician and former Beatle Paul McCartney. Imagined is the remix version that came digitally back in April and now lands on vinyl. The artists chosen to remix were all selected by McCartney himself and are said to feature "friends, fans, and brand new acquaintances." The record has picked up plenty of positive reviews already and that should be no surprise given the heavyweights included. The likes of Beck, Khruangbin, Dev Hynes, Ed O'Brien, Damon Albarn, Josh Homme, Anderson .Paak, Robert Del Naja, and Idris Elba all make for a contemporary mix with diverse results.
