Generator: Broadcast In Hi Tech
Abstract Science - "The Grinder"
Andy Rantzen - "The Kiss"
DJ T-1000 - "Detroitism"
Terrence Dixon - "Daily Routine"
Obsolete Music Technology - "Past Virtue"
Plural - "07"
Jamal M - "Fine & Mellow"
Windimoto - "Friday Night: UBQ"
Review: A hefty double 12" from Generator features a slew of basement techno bombs from both sides of the Atlantic (oh, and Australia). From the pounding, relentless throb of Abstract Science's "The Grinder" to the shuffling groove of "Detroitism" by DJ-T 1000, the eight tracks cover the full breadth of techno's rich sonic landscape. Other highlights include the broken beats and woodblock percussion on Plural's "07" and the more experimental vibe of "Fine & Mellow" by Mathematics boss and general Chicago underground legend, Jamal M. An unmissable collection of tracks packaged in highly collectable artwork by Alan Oldham, who was also responsible for the superbly illustrated Defenders Of The Deep House World EP that surfaced on Third Ear a few months back.

Aline Umber & Maxime DB - "Disco Sex Machine" (feat Machine Woman) (4:06)
Sweely - "Do What U Want With Me" (6:07)
Welwert - "The Shooting" (7:12)
Review: The AirFunk crew is back for third dreamy deep house trip to the clouds with this new various artists EP featuring some of the genre's most revered names. Aline Umber & Maxime DB combine to start the EP off with 'Tribute To Malibu' which is a lovely hypnagogic sound that pairs a raspy bassline with pure filtered vocal hooks that drift in and out. They also offer the retro disco hose charms and Metro Area style colours of 'Disco Sex Machine' before Swell's jazzy house comes to the fore on 'Do What U Want With Me' and Welwert shuts down with a more grinding bit of house funk on 'The Shooting.'

Ambient/Drone
Subterraneans (8:38)
Subterraneans (instrumental) (8:46)
Review: The original 'Subterraneans', composed by David Bowie from their 1977 album 'Low', was an emotionally striking piece that illustrated the struggles of withdrawal. German legend Alva Noto teams up with Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and ambient wizard William Basinski to transform the piece into an ephemeral, ghostly number that is almost even more chilling - with ambient synths and vocal echoing that conjure being lost in a deep cave, something almost supernatural at every turn. A truly haunting, yet aurally astounding, cover.

Aspetuck - "As The Fog Rolls In" (6:01)
Anderson - "Aquabound" (6:45)
Watch Patrol - "Wandering In The Garden" (5:24)
Review: There's an abundance of crafty, ear-snagging gear coming out on Telomere Plastic these days and the steady stream of VA releases are a handy window into some of the freshest operators in the more creative ends of minimal tech house. Baenglund is having a jolly time of it tweaking out the freaky synth riffs on 'Funk Inspector', while Aspetuck creates a teasing, strung-out after hours sound which tips towards electronica on 'As The Fog Rolls In'. Anderson brings a little trance influence to the crooked groove of 'Aquabound', and Watch Patrol softens the edges with an acidic bubblebath on 'Wandering In The Garden'.

Woodfield Rd Allstars - "Norwegian Wood" (2:37)
Melbourne Douglas - "Wheel & Come Again" (3:16)
Review: The Original Gravity label's Reggae Dynamite series sure is packed full of dance floor heat. This fourth volume turns up the temperature once more, starting with Dave Barker's 'Move It On Now' with spoken word mic work over a guitar laced riddim. Woodfield Rd Allstars bring plenty of big horn energy and hints of ska to their 'San Salvario Stomp' then appear again on the flip with the organ-lead sounds of mid tempo wobbler 'Norwegian Wood'. Melbourne Douglas completes the picture with 'Wheel & Come Again', another raw as you like and classic sound.

Something More (6:38)
Palm Strings (6:39)
Review: Bart Skills is a veteran techno producer and Drumcode is a veteran techno label, but neither shows any signs of age here with Weska also joining in for a pair of highly potent and weaponised new cuts. They take up one side each and first is 'Something More' with its sweeping blasts of white noise, factory floor sound effects and unrelenting drums that will demolish any dancefloor. 'Palm Strings' then carries on the party with a more stripped-back sound initially, but eventually, the rising synths take over as the gritty drum loops pound away below. A pair of big room monsters for sure.

Alan Fitzpatrick - "Untitled" (feat SCB) (6:54)
Boxia - "Final Call" (7:00)
Jay Lumen - "Stella Luce" (7:28)
Weska - "Other Places" (6:28)
Review: Drumcode's A-Sides compilation provides a timely opportunity to showcase the full range of its sonic repertoire, with Adam Beyer scrupulously selecting unreleased tracks that have taken prime position in his sets over recent months. Part four of the seventh volume features another bunch of heavy hitters such as UK AM specialist Alan Fitzpatrick, who collaborates with Hotflush head honcho SCB on the furious warehouse stomp of "Untitled" followed by fellow Brit Boxia who serves up the evocative and transcendental groove of "Final Call". On the flip, Hungary's Jay Lumen channels the heyday of '90s trance effortlessly on the euphoric "Stella Luce" while Canadian Weska closes out the EP by taking you aboard an acid express direct into the stratosphere on "Other Places".

Roots/Lovers Rock
Burning Spear & Roland Alphonso - "Door Peeper" (4:39)
Willie Williams - "All The Way" (5:58)
Review: An anthem with an early reggae riddim. Burning Spear was an alias for Winston Rodney, one of the most beloved Jamaican singers. 'Door Peeper' was originally released in 1969 on the Supreme label in Jamaica, and later on Bamboo in the UK. Rasta lyrics and musical motifs had been previously adapted for commercial release, but none sounded quite like this. Dissimilar to the fast instrumental reggae records that were resonating with white teenagers in England at the time, this was 'starkly uncompromising music that demanded to be taken on its own terms, or not at all.'

Burning Spear & Roland Alphonso - "Door Peeper" (4:39)
Willie Williams - "All The Way" (5:59)
Review: Burning Spear & Roland Alphonso's 'Door Peeper' is a super sacred and classic tune. It's as deep as they come, with spiritual sax and impassioned vocals, and this version nails all that and then some. Brook's sax comes in half way through to really make the trip peak. The original was one of the many greats arranged by legendary guitarist Ernest Ranglin, with added trumpet from David Madden. On the reverse of this crucial 7" is Willie Williams's earthy 'All The Way' with its characteristic tumbling melodies and fat bottomed bass.

Review: Spanish stable Satta Sounds get busy on their Tuff Cut TCR series once again, inviting a rabble of roustabouts to the table: Conscious Species, Dr Um, Wize & Deadly and Pastaman all lay down their uncompromised designs and it's another freestyle breakbeat frenzy. Highlights run rife from the opening flutters and skips of Conscious Species' 'Warming Up' to the walloping swing and funk of Pastaman's finale 'Take Your Time'. Review: Credit 00 continues to bring his own brand of deviant machine music to the forefront on Rat Life, this time aided and abetted by the mighty Wolf Muller. The two reportedly got into the studio in Dusseldorf in 2018 and took an omnivorous approach from chopping up breaks and sampling acoustic instruments to wringing as much funk as possible out of every synth in reach. While the tracks have been stewing for some time, now they're finally available on this release, sounding like a perfect summation of two distinct voices in the leftfield reaches of German club music and not like anything either has released before.

Silva Bumpa - "Body Right"
Review: This is a superb various artists' collection that get back to the roots of several sounds from dub and reggae to garage and house. All four gems are guaranteed future classics that tick all the right boxes while also offering up something fresh. Da Elusive Ganjaman opens up with 'Da Return' which has acoustic Spanish guitars and slamming beats, Wodda then offers the silky vocal garage house of 'Don't Mind Me' and Main Phase gets naughty with the filthy bass and sirens of 'Childish.' Last of all, Silva Bumpa's 'Body Right' has pitched up r&b vocals to die for over darker low ends. A top EP with something for all.

Glory (Kelly G Dancing dub club mix) (7:55)
Glory (Floorplan remix) (7:21)
Review: When it comes to gospel-powered 21st century dance music, Detroit trio Dames Brown have been involved in many of the most memorable records - not least Sophie Lloyd anthem 'Calling Out' and Horse Meat Disco hook-up 'Message To The People'. Here they join forces with fellow Motor City musician Waajeed for another arms-aloft classic in the making. In its original form, 'Glory' blurs the boundaries between gospel disco and gospel house, with the trio's powerful vocals rising rubbery bass guitar, loose-limbed beats and riotous organ licks aplenty. It comes accompanied by two fine remixes: a stomping, piano riff-powered gospel house take from Rob and Lyric Hood's Floorplan project, and a stomping, thickset gospel disco 'dancing club dub' courtesy of Kelly G.

Tuccillo - "Outer Space" (7:27)
Wareika - "When Will We Meet Again?" (8:15)
Review: Ten years deep, Visionquest continues to be a potent force in field of minimal tech house thanks to releases like these. The latest split release from their VQ X series opens up with the spellbinding, micro dub meditation 'The Serpent & The Jaguar' from Deadbeat before swerving into the equally tender folds of Triptease & Yonatan Levi's 'Amniotic Jive'. Tuccillo opens up the B-side with some crisp, immersive broken beat rhythmic incantations, and then Wareika round the record off with a smouldering piece of hi-tech jazz from the outer rim. This is subtle, elegant minimal at its warmest, make no mistake.

Discodeine - "Aydin Music"
Whitey - "No More Right Or Wrong"
Review: Renowned across the world as a concept store for the well heeled Parisians, Colette have plenty of form when it comes to releasing compilations and their latest, Colette Call, sees them once again invite Kill The DJ's self proclaimed House Music activist Clement Vache to curate proceedings. Featuring the likes of Dean Blunt, DJ Koze and Gramme, Colette Call is as fashionably diverse as one has come to expect from the Parisian hub and it's granted a 10" sampler with contributions from Discodeine and Whitey. Cedric Pilooski and Benjamin Morando's Discodeine project feature with "Aydin" which is lifted off their forthcoming second album; it should be quite the soiree on the evidence here with the voice of Tame Impala's Kevin Parker well suited to the playfully epic sounding arrangement. Complementing this, Whitey offers up another example of his sorely under-rated talent with the plangent punk funk of "No More Right Or Wrong".

DJ Booth - "The Door" (5:22)
Walrus - "Can't Get New Shoes" (6:45)
Walrus - "Free City Light" (5:26)
Review: A sticker on the front of this 12" from Brussels-based Basic Moves proudly proclaims that 100 per cent of sales royalties will be donated to charity. It's a nice move and one that should guarantee that the record is taken even more seriously. Like much of the label's output, it boasts self-styled "outsider club music", this time from Casablanca-born DJ Booth and label co-founder Walrus. DJ Booth handles side A, first romping his way through a bleeping, intoxicating, peak-time techno club jam ("Defaulted (Industry)"), before reaching for the breakbeats, deep electronics and electro shuffle on the superb "The Door". On side B Walrus takes over. "Can't Get New Shoes" is a bubbly, acid-fired chunk of electro/techno crunchiness, while "Free City Light" is notably deeper jazzier and way more melodic.

Review: DJ Nori's TK Records EP first arrived on the scene in 2016. It's become a sought after modern classic ever since because it features a sublime, double-header of tasteful edits that never fail to get funk lovers going. First he tackles Wanda Star Williams' 'Mr UFO', flipping it with big strident drums and fierce vocal deliveries that are perfectly impassioned. On the reverse is Montreal Sound's 'Music' which is a bustling and atmospheric funk jam with plenty of live recordings of vocals, claps and people doing monkey sounds to make it as characterful as possible.

Review: There's a certain brand of 4x4 deep house that utterly slapssss. And that's exactly the business Toolroom Records are in - they're simultaneous experts at throwing us back to the sprawling garage paradises, while still lending modern, buildup-drop flairs to their productions. This V/A 12" sampler from a wider comp shows off choice buts from label mainstays, Essel, Guz, Qubiko, et al., showing off the best of what Italy's poppy deep house scene has to offer.

Review: Toolroom sits at the top of the tree when it comes to big room house music. Mark Knight's label has mastered the art of maximal sounds and this eighth volume of the Tooroom Sampler series is another one that will do plenty of damage. Essel's 'Sweat' is a rigid tech cut with stiff synths and libidinous vocals, then Shiba San and Ayarez get direct with shuffling tech house cut 'Twist It' complete with big skewed synths. Friend Within's 'Pilka' keeps the energy levels high with fizzing synth loops over textured drums and a fat bassline. Maur x Westend and Cami Bear close out with some brighter melodies to get hands in the air on 'Over.'

Why We Dance (Kevin Swain & Terry Farley 'Angels take Control' remix) (5:14)
Review: This is a fine slab of cross-generational house hedonism, with all-round UK house legend Terry Farley (Faith, Junior Boy's Own etc) joining forces with XOYO resident Wade Teo and NYC-based spoken word artist Kameelah Waheed. The pair's original mix (side A) is a pleasingly nostalgic, forthright affair, sitting somewhere between acid-flecked DJ Pierre Wild Pitch productions of the mid-90s, piano-sporting early '90s piano anthems, hip-house and the chunkier end of Junior Vasquez's Sound Factory-era reworks. Over on the flip, Farley and Teo deliver the more tactile, warming, Frankie Knuckles style 'Lonely Dancer Remix', before enlisting DOP's Kevin Swain for the darker, drowsier and crunchier 'Angels Take Control Remix'.

Review: East End Dubs' Eastenderz label keeps on turning out hugely functional but also charming dub tech that is stripped back to its bones and laced with funk. This new various artist EP packs a powerful punch from the off, with Floog laying down some vital kicks and whirring machine sounds to send any floor into overdrive. Cosmjn then takes us to another planet with his dreamy pads and Vlad Arapasu's 'Egoland' sounds like a classic Terry Francis cut from the mid-90s, so in other words, pure fire. There's no mucking around on 'Mello', a razor sharp closer with hi hats that would cut though steel.

HATELOVE & Wanton open up with the hellish, gothic, industrial techno banger that is 'Permanent Brain Damage' with its flat-footed drum stomps and fizzing walls of synth. There is no let up through visceral, caustic tunes from Hybral or the dark and heavy stomper that is Tim Williams's 'Son Of Perdition.' Review: Launched back in 2020, Diamonds in the Night is Bordello a Parigi's multi-artist EP series. This is the fifth volume and, like its four predecessors, is firmly focused on peak-time and after-hours dancefloors. Kick and Enrik Schroeder get things going via the spiralling synthesiser melodies, thrusting sequenced bass and hands-aloft Hi-NRG vibes of 'Mezzanotte' - think Giorgio Moroder on steroids and you're close - before Club Mayz drops the darker, more angular and analogue rich Italo-disco throb of 'Princess of Excess'. Martin Mastike's 'Dimensional Mode' is a more pulsating and cheerful chunk of mi-tempo Italo, while WLDV's 'Relax and Enjoy' provides a suitably surging, clattering and breathless conclusion.

Jan Kincl kicks things off with 'Daylight You Are My', a sunset-ready chunk of gently jazzy deep house bliss that's subsequently turned into an even more warming and colourful dancefloor roller by Motor City house legend Alton Miller. It has turned out big room sounds for many years and made label founder Mark Knight a star in the process. Here he has put together an eighth volume of the sampler series that showcases what the imprint is all about and his own track with Green Velvet and Rene Amesz is a highlight with its dark, sleazy grind and tech house funk sure to lock in the club. Review: The next release from Mindhelmet features another stellar cast of operators in the more playful end of the minimal tech house sphere. Kolter leads the charge with the full-fat, punchy 90s stylings of 'New Generation' before Agustin Barbei brings some sassy energy to the table on the shoulder-shaking 'Altare'. Henry Hyde shifts the focus to broken beat rhythms without losing the upfront melodies on his cut 'Covered In Purple', and Wink drops some cheeky organ chords and boxy drums aplenty on 'Cod, Chips N Curry Sauce'. Review: How cheeky do you want it? The Hedzup crew have been transmitting crafty-as-hell minimal house from Paris to the world for many a year now, and they're not letting up in their quest to inject some freaky fun into the club. This latest drop is another split from label main men Mancini and Wlad, leading in with the former's 'Cure Hater' which bounces into ear shot with an irrepressible groove and plenty of wriggling noises snaking around the mix. Nu Zau then steps up with a remix which tips the ingredients into a tougher, 90s-styled beatdown without losing any of that heads down energy you expect from a Hedzup release. Wlad brings a shimmering sophistication to the chords on 'Lucky Star' without losing that naughty rhythm section, giving Floog plenty to work with for a remix which heads further into techy territory.

More importantly the music is of a quality that merits the extra attention on the packaging with four artists all coming through with compelling takes on minimal. Mariche's 'Haunted House' is awash with nice bubbly synth phrases that are full of colour and charm, then Sbruf's 'That Think' gets funked up and kinetic on lively drum programming with lots of hooky synth details and sci-fi flourishes. Watsche's 'Bsmtgrvs' is another glossy hyper-real sound with polished melodies and a restless sense of groove and Yogi P keeps it deep with the soulful pads of 'Vickies Groove.'

Review: Afroterraneo Music founder Kiko Navarro steps up for his label next release, but not before enlisting the help of friends and fellow Balearic and house dons DJ Pippi and Willie Graff. Their classy Tempistica Mistica EP offers up a pair of richly percussive and Afro-Latin tinged house cuts that are primed and ready for deployment on the most cultured dance floors. 'N'Fumbei' is a warming shuffler that echoes the work of Fred P, 'Esanah' is more heavy and percussive with its weighty kicks making a lasting mark. 'N'Fumbeats' closes down with a fat, bouncy rhythm brought to life with loose and organic perc.

Terry Farley, Wade Teo & Kameelah Waheed - "Dancing After Dark" (TDK 90 Dope mix) (6:08)
Review: A follow-up to last year's successful compilation 'Faith Presents: Ain't That A Groove', is given to us by the London-based label Faith ran by DJs Terry Farley, Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis. The high energy house party sound kicks off with Nolan who features the legendary house voice of Sir. Robert Owens. Hilit Kolet isn't shy with the extended remix of 'POV Siren'. This sound is synonymous with Feller and Heller DJ sets of the mid 90s. Philippa's extended remix of 'The Night' by Roach Motel backs that one up with another prime floor filler with hardly any let up. Lastly, Terry Farley, Wade Teo & Kameelah Waheed brings he deep groover "Dancing After Dark" to the party. These tracks will have you and the nightclub crowd out dancing all night.

Review: Surfaced Trax is back with a second superb EP, this time in the form of its Sub Sonics Volume 1 EP series featuring three vital artists. Parallax Deep kicks off with 'Submerged' with its lithe, rubbery and elastic techno, then Weirdvin's 'Morphing' is a sparse and moody cut that stays deep and mysterious. The flipside offers the more rickety tech loops of 'Kasvo' before Parallax Deep returns with a second cut in the form of the deep and dubby 'Sediment.'

Review: London's Phonica Records is celebrating being 20 years strong, not only a shop but also a label that serves as a breeding ground for all manner of new musical talents. What better way to mark the commencement of its third decade, then, than with some new music? 20 Years Of Phonica: Sampler 3 pulls together artists from the electronic vanguard, starting with Paramida & E-Talking's 'Read My Lips' which is an acid-laced 90s techno revival. Dauwd's 'Slam' is stripped back and pulses with acid and Daniel Avery's 'Bell' is languid, melodic and gorgeously serene techno. Willow's 'Willbush' is a skeletal minimal rhythm with some nice wobbly bass weight.

It is a long awaited official release of a tune The Daphni (aka Caribou) first dropped in his BBC Essential Mix in early 2020 ahead of the pandemic really making its mark. Since then it has been much sought after and done plenty of damage and now the remix of Donnell Pitman's 'Do You Wanna' arrives on limited 12" with its crunchy drums, classic deep house bassline and well treated vocals all swirling round to stirring effect. Steamy beatdown jam 'Summertime Girls' also features with deep disco and boogie delight 'Need My Love' in two forms.

Review: Rain & White Transit Van kick off a new collaborative project with this first EP on Damo B's Emotec label, and what an inspired cosmic trip it is. 'Cliffdive' is a subtle opener with thinking cosmic leads and lazy mid-tempo groves sweeping you up and depositing you amongst the stars. 'Castaway' then puts crunchy drum breaks front and centre, waiting around the edges with mystic chords and melancholic emotions. There is high-speed electro slickness to 'Park' complete with flashes of acid and 'Sin' closes with a mix of muted synth modulations, warped metal surfaces and bumping electro beats.

Review: Original Gravity have been hard at work putting together a third volume in their reggae Dynamite series. This one lines up another belting 45 featuring tunes from The Regulators - twice - Brentford Rd Soul Rebels and Woodfield Rd Allstars. All of the tunes have booming bass warmth and vintage organ riffs that just transport you to a time and a place, even if you didn't live it yourself. The drums rumble on like a fat bottomed elephant and the horns take a majestic lead. These are atmospheric tunes ready and waiting to get people moving and our standout is Woodfield Road Allstars' tribute to boxing legend Muhammed Ali.

Guri - "Beautiful Dreamer" (6:19)
Review: Having mostly used the Pleasant Systems label as a vehicle for his own productions, Tilman has decided to use the imprint's latest release to showcase the work of likeminded artists. He first turns to old pals Rhode & Brown, whose 'Call a Wave (Flute Mix)' sits somewhere between classic Italian dream house, the 'new age house' of Lamont Booker, and their own chunkier deep house workouts, before showcasing the classic-sounding, jazz-flecked New Jersey deep house style sounds of Nu Cleo ('Move'). Experienced producer Will Buck opts for a chunkier, hazier and more warming late-night deep house sound on 'These Emotions', while Guri's flute-sporting 'beautiful Dreamer' recalls the early works of French jazz-house great St Germain.

Review: The Roulade label is doing things right - not only is the music they are serving up superb, but so to do this second 12" comes with great and original artwork. Its neon glow and diffuse light capture the vibes of the synths on the opening cut 'C'est Party' perfectly. It's a melodically rich tech house cut with rubbery bass and great spoken words from a world disco dancing competition. Occibel's 'Give 'Em Some Rest' is busy and dense with whirring sci-fi synths, funky Prince riffs, thudding house beats and plenty of colour. Add in two more equally vibrant and characterful cuts from Hearthug and Wooka on the flip and you have one of the most unique EPs we've heard in some time.

Perennial favourite Santiago Salazar opens things up with some brilliantly jazzy and balmy chords over soulful beats, then Kelvin K comes through with 'En Echo' which skinks into a warm, cuddly and timeless groove with spoken words to send shivers down the spine. Review: Spain's Oraculo label are known for coming through with the best new talent among the coldwave circles, and this fine mini compilation is another lesson to all those dabbling in industrial music in this day and age. Stockhaussen starts of deep and chimerical in "Gold Colors", but Factice Factory's "Lodged" offers a more lighthearted slice of 80's reminiscent melodica. Synths Versus Me features with the excellent "Machines Loves Better", and more of the same highgrade pseudo EBM is thrown down by Italy's Marcello Giordani and Werner Karloff. Tip!

Well here is it; the two tracks from the original 1973 Selector Sound 45" and Gloria and Walter Whisenhunt's Selector Sound collaboration "Love Is A Hurting Thing". All three sounding pristine. Walter Whisenhunt Orchestra - "Love Is A Hurting Thing" (feat Gloria Ann Taylor) (7:18)
Review: Sometimes, incredibly rare and expensive records don't live up to the hype. We can safely say that Gloria Ann Taylor's "Deep Inside You"- a superb, disco-era chunk of sexually charged soul - is not one of those records. Very few original copies were pressed, which not only explains the eye-watering second-hand prices but also the numerous bootlegs that have appeared over the years. This, then, is the record's first licensed reissue. It's worth picking up, not only for the sublime title track, but also for bonus cuts "What's Your World" - a laidback, super-sweet chunk of laidback West Coast soul - and the lushly orchestrated "Love Is A Hurting Thing".

Ternion Sound's 'Vision Quest' is a low end wobbler, Mesck then slows it down and gets more dystopian with 'Bleed' and Wraz's 'Raiju' brings the bright metropolitan melodies. The flip side brings some fiery vocals on Hamdi's 'Skanka' while LOST's 'Level Up' is all about the low end weight. 11th Hour's 'Vicious' is a more eerie and sparse closer.

Review: The all powerful Drumcode label still does a fine line in big room techno after countless years and even more releases of the stuff. This third part of the A Sides collection brings together a towering selection of names from that scene including Tiger Stripes with the smooth cruise that is 'Altar'. Veterans Pig & Dan vs Gregor Tresher get more intense with frosty loops and dubby hits building a vibe and Wehbba ups the ante with acid daubs and fizzing drums on 'The Next Step.' Murmullo De Los Vientos (12:57)
Review: The latest missive from the recently reactiviated Hearing Colors label mines the archives of minimal legend Ricardo Villalobos, offering up two tracks recorded with fellow Chilean Washington Miranda a decade ago. Villalobos has played both tracks extensively in his DJ sets over the years, but this is the first time they've been released. A-side 'En Suma' is a typically wonky and wayward slab of off-kilter, early morning minimalism, with lo-fi electronic pulses, glitchy noises and Miranda's drowsy, multi-tracked vocals rising above a deep sub-bass line and crunchy, shuffling beats. Flip-side 'Murmullo De Los Vientos' is percussively bolder, heavier and denser, with snaking, echo-laden clarinet solos and layered vocal snippets providing a typically trippy, emotive focal point. Top stuff all told.

For those who value the power of extended, reduced forays into the outer realms of the dancefloor, there's a lot of power to draw from these tracks. The A-side is more forthright, thanks to little more than a click woodblock hit which drives the groove forwards, while 'Murmullo De Los Vientos' takes on a subtler, even more hypnotic quality with a voice (presumably Miranda's) guiding us through the soundscape.
