Review: "20/20 VisionApresent the debutArelease from Manchester based artists Armec. Following releases for Cultivated Electronics and Furthur Electronix, the Caged EP hits the ground running with a recordAthat spans heavy club ready electro andAfuturistic soundscapes complete with a hefty remix from German acidAconnoisseurs - Hardfloor.

'Caged'Asucks us down theArabbit holeAwith dense textures fortified by an infectious groove, vast pads, and bubbling synth lines are beautifully counterbalanced by aAflair for melodies.AThe HardfloorAremix ofA'Caged' submerges us into an acidic electro tripAfuelled by quirky melodic licks, menacingAlow-end, pulsating pads and body shaking drums.A

On the flip side 'Curvature'Ais an out and outAunderstated bomb. Propelled by aAsquelchingAsuperchargedAbass line, soaring over Armec's signature textural landscape, reinforced by yet more razor sharp hats, and a heavy kick drum. The final 'Replicants' is a sidewinding, emotionally charged cut thatAfeels truly fresh andAforwardAthinking - deepAlusciousApads are underpinned by a superbly engineered break-beat driven groove.A

  1. Cignol - "Late Night Traverse" (5:01)
  2. Armec - "Celestial Mechanics" (5:24)
  3. Jared Wilson - "Leave Your World Behind" (GOM mix) (6:27)
  4. Gilbert - "Signs Of Hope" (6:15)
Review: We're Going Deep do it again on a nicely varied four tracker featuring talents old and new. Cignol's 'Late Night Traverse' is a brilliantly designed cut with a loopy lead melody phrase that is going nowhere in a hurry over a nice meandering bassline. Armec's 'Celestial Mechanics' is a tougher electro tinged beat with industrial textural references and then Jared Wilson does what he does best. Acidddddd. Gilbert rounds out with a thoughtful and pensive cut that will have you gazing off into the multi-verse as his ticking hits and elastic bass keep things moving.
