Review: Given that he made his vinyl debut five years ago, it could be argued that this debut album from Traffic Records founder Bodin Stojanovski is well overdue. As you'd perhaps expect, "Revox" retains a sharp club focus throughout, though there's still plenty of variety amongst the chunky, tech-tinged house cuts on offer. For example, compare and contrast the stabbing, acid-powered chunkiness of the title track, the shuffling, intergalactic electro of "Move Out", the subtle U.S garage and Motor City techno influences of "Gecko", and the stomping, lo-fi tech-funk of "Overture". Opener "Phonecall", whose bleeping, stabbing melodies will wriggle into your subconscious, is also superb.

  1. Philipp Boss - "Lava" (5:56)
  2. Griezman - "Decheterie" (8:27)
  3. Martyne - "Zoober" (6:26)
  4. Bodin - "A Walk In The Park" (6:15)
Review: Not On Earth's first release sold out in quick time - unsurprising given the reputation of Frankfurt based founders Bodin & Jacob. Their second is a various artists affair that shows off some of the talents they have unearthed, while Bodin also reappears with "A Walk In The Park." It's a brilliantly militant cut with clipped, marching beats and rasping bass squelches, and elsewhere Philipp Boss opens the EP with the slippery electro rhythms of "Lava". Griezman's "Decheterie" is an uptempo bit of proper first wave tech house a la Terry Francis. Closing out this more than handy EP is the hard edged electro-tech of "Zoober" from Martyne.

  1. Alec Falconer - "Wobble Roller" (6:34)
  2. Alec Falconer - "Bounce" (6:23)
  3. Bodin - "Sluga" (6:25)
  4. Bodin - "Hopez" (5:58)
Review: The second split release from fast-rising Belgian label The Void Project boasts tracks from Traffic co-founder Bodin and sometime Ext and Entity London artist Alec Falconer. The latter begins by offering a nod towards his work with UKG revivalists Phone Traxx on the aptly titled - and really rather good - "Wobble Roller", before peppering a chunky bassline and crunchy house drums with low-register organ stabs and occasional breakbeat blasts on "Bounce". Over on side B Traffic Records co-founder Bodin takes over and offers up two tracks that make the most of the Roland TB-303 (or at least something that sounds like it). "Sluga" is a bona-fide jacker with deep organ riffs, while "Hopez" is a snappier affair powered forward by a seriously squelchy bassline.
