Cinamin (7:31)
Samba (7:24)
Review: Liquid drum 'n bass extraordinaire Calibre returns to his breakbeaty dance side-style with 'Cinamin'. While lots of artists are working in this ultra-minimal style, Calibre has leveraged his position as a mega-artist in order to stay on top of them. Wells of bassy depth and underscore a repeated crossrhythm that buckles the mix in the style of Rival Consoles or Floating Points, albeit with much less wonk or syncopation included. 'Samba' brings up the B-side with ultra-bassy kicks and subs reminiscent of Ability II's few releases. This 12" is a dry and minimal affair, with a happily functional outlook suitable for DJs.

Getter Go (6:59)
Review: Prolific Northern Irish producer Calibre is no stranger to The Nothing Special label overseen by Fabric resident Craig Richards, having debuted on the imprint under his given name Dominick Martin with the Knee Soul 12" last year. Fresh from issuing Shelflife 3, the tenth Calibre album of a decorated production career, Martin now graces The Nothing Special with some Calibre material in the shape of the Trimming 12". Mastered by Keith Tenniswood, Calibre shows off his contemplative side with the dub influenced title track whilst the supple basslines and intricate rhythms of "Getter Go" nudges proceedings towards the dancefloor.

Review: Under the Calibre alias, Dom Martin has never been afraid to supplement his main drum & bass work with tracks that explore different musical styles. He's gone one step further on this album for Craig Richards' label, the Nothing Special. Stripped of all jungle intent, Grow impressively shuffles between jazzy future garage, hazy post-dubstep soundscapes, warm, breakbeat-driven grooves (the early Blu Mar Ten style bliss of "Thunder Fog"), throbbing futurist dub (the brilliant "Over The Top"), and, perhaps most surprisingly for those keen on D&B, four-to-the-floor deep house (the clandestine "Mention"). The fact that it's all rather good confirms what many in D&B already knew: that Martin is a hugely talented producer.
