Review: Cardopusher's latest release - the Barcelona-based artist's first for Mechatronica - is pleasingly retro-futurist in tone, building on the stylish fusions of EBM, industrial, new wave, acid and techno he's previously offered up on Dark Entries, Boysnoize, Dalmata Daniel and Super Rhythm Trax. Rooted in analogue hardware, the four tracks mix druggy, Nitzer Ebb style arpeggio basslines and clattering, sometimes jacking rhythm tracks with distant vocal samples and occasional hard-edged, mind-altering electronic motifs. It's all very muscular, forthright and dancefloor-focused, with the deliciously raw and druggy "Just A Ride" and soaring "Programmed To Consume" - all rising lead lines, big chords and bustling machine drums - standing out.

His Muscle Memory EP for Bay Area retroverts Dark Entries sees him ride on the winning formula of raw and jacking house and techno grooves from yesteryear with a touch of modern flair. Review: Barcelona-based artist Cardopusher continues on his high-pressure acid explorations for Jerome Hill's Super Rhythm Trax. The Venezuelan artist has had releases previously on top labels such as Tigerbeat6, Hyperdub and even Boysnoize, in addition to running his Classicworks inprint. The Mental Jobs EP features the gritty and hyperware acid house of "Trust Your TV" and the the electric boogaloo of "Never Fade Away" which had us similarly reminiscing on S'Express and the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack. Review: Barcelona's Cardopusher has released on a wide variety of imprints ever since his production debuts for the likes of Damage and London's mighty Hyperdub, so much so that it even allowed him to release an album in 2015 for Boysnoize Records. This week, he's up on Super Rhythm Trax - home to a vast array of jacking house beats - and his starter for ten is the 303-laden beast in the name of "End Local", a monster that is quickly followed by the heavy-bottomed, Trax-fuelled "Variant". Review: Balkan Recordings return with a third edition of their Mutant City Acid series. On the A side Cardopusher gives us some vintage Chicago acid reminiscent of DJ Bam Bam on the ferocious "Facelifter" while Perseus Traxx gives us the spooky "Amphitheatre of Joppa" which builds the suspense a lot like another certain classic by Suburban Knight; you know the one! On the B side we've got "Turn My Tape Up" by Posthuman. Not just another apt slogan for the new generation but a wicked track to boot! With its driving arpeggio that later morphs into 303 style acid and rusty drums; this one's got all you need! Finally UK techno legend Paul Mac appears too! "Borrow The Sound" sees him taking time out from engineering for the likes of Ben Sims to throw down a sturdy example of dark side electro that'd make Silicon Scally and Scape One stand up and notice.

Review: Featuring six tracks from an eye-catching array of rising stars and confirmed underground heroes, VEYL's latest release is a must-check affair. There simply isn't room to mention each and every track, so instead we'll pick out some of the many standout tracks. Check first the sleazy, foreboding filth of Jenson Interceptor's hybrid electro-techno treat "The Outer Limits", before diving headfirst into the even more mind-altering, synth-heavy darkness of Lokier's "Secrets". Randstad skilfully doffs a cap to Nitzer Ebb while keeping the grooves rooted in electro on the growling guitar-laden sweatiness of "Metalloid", while Cardopusher's acid-fired "Bloodlust" is a stylish blend of EBM weight, jacking drums and twisted electronic motifs.

Review: Bloody Mary presents the second edition in her celebratory 10 Years Of Dame Music series and she's not messing around. Presenting four tracks that mean business, lunging straight for the jugular from the get-go: Lady Starlight follows up some great material of late for Figure and Arcing Seas with her contribution here titled 'C One Three' - a pummelling and mentalist acid techno trip, followed by yet more of Cardopusher's wicked modern EBM mutations as heard on 'Metal Rain'. On the flip, DeFeKT offers us some truly evil sounding darkness underpinned by bubbling acid, before the ever reliable Schacke goes out all guns blazing on 'Lowest Of Highs', full of rave/trance motifs that herald the death of euphoria.
