Percy (4:55)
Bolass'd (5:05)
Review: Dane//Close is sounding fierce as hell on this 7" edit grip for the ever-excellent Duca Bianco. Having previously moonlighted on Power Station and Prasens Editionen, you know this is a head with an instinct for alternative selections to make you move. On the A side, he tackles the incendiary "I Don't Wanna Go Out" by iconic Australian punks X (not to be confused with the LA band), stretching out the rowdy groove of the original's two-minute burst. On the B side, things take a slinkier turn into oddball boogie sleaze - the source material isn't so easy to detect, but it's definitely a jam to get low tempo lovers moving.

Ancient Rome (6:33)

Review: Power Station, Melbourne's finest outpost of wavey wares continues to grow in stature and intrigue, this time linking up with Berlin-based artist dane//close to present his The Miniature Industrial Complex mini-LP on wax for the first time. The sounds spread across this six track stunner draw heavily on lo-fi, punky influences from synthwave to electro and shape them into something very alluring indeed. "Ancient Rome" uses a motorik bassline to fit in on the floor while the rest of the track sizzles in suspense, but "Beard" is more overt in its intention to party. With each track telling its own tale, this is a sterling clutch of seedy body music that channels the spirit of the 80s beautifully.

Dane//Close - "Getluv"
Kris Baha - "Blackout"
Otologic - "The Big Smoke"
Jonathan Kusuma - "Electric Hit"
Review: The Power Cuts posse continue to gather strength and widen their reach on this second release, celebrating all kinds of nefarious era-spanning, style-hopping grooves designed for the deviant party. Dane//Close gets the bass slapping to perfection on "Getluv" before Kris Baha drops a stoutly lo-fi piece of primal electro mischief. Otologic has something rather different to say with the spacious, stalking tension of "The Big Smoke", and then Jonathan Kusuma rounds the EP out with a disheveled industrial edit approach on "Electric Hit". This record does a fantastic job of reaching back to the glory days of low budget 80s production, with the attitude to match the punky finish.

Dane & Khotin - "IMHO" (5:52)
Dane & Khotin - "System" (5:23)
Dane - "I Want More" (7:34)
Eddie C - "One For Dane" (4:13)
Review: Canada's foremost re-edit imprint continues to churn out the hits, largely by delivering dub disco and Balearic-tinged interpretations of long forgotten or little-known cuts. Common Edit regulars Dane and Khotin join forces on the A-side, delivering a sweet chunk of boogie-era synthesizer reggae ("Imho"), before heading futher towards peaktime territory with the low-slung, late night AOR disco of "System". Eddie C digs delves into his seemingly bottomless crates of obscurities for inspiration on "I Want More", a gorgeous chunk of piano-laden Balearic disco sweetness. Finally, Dane lights up something medicinal, closes his eyes and delivers the smacked-out, guitar-laden ambient chug of "One For Dane". It's an absolute beauty, if truth be told.

Sweet Nothing
Jupiter Dub
Review: From the Edmonton-based edit party crew, "Common Edit 6" features two superbly spaced out slices of funk. "Sweet Nothing" is the more the dancefloor-focussed groove with a spider-like bassline that weaves a cosmic web over you while spiralling strings and reverbed horn toots cast all manner of spells upside your head. "Jupiter Dub" is the freakiest of the pair as a Wah Wah guitar plays the lead vocalist over an immense chugging bassline. There's nothing common about these cuts whatsoever.

Track 1
Track 2
Review: Now firmly ensconced in Berlin, Eddie C's last abiding memories of Banff, Canada, are wrapped up in this dinky seven inch, the second release on his fledgling Red Motorbike label. "Smile Again" was recorded with Common Edit boss Dane in the studio time before Mr C strode across the Atlantic, revisiting The Torpoons project last seen on The Cosmic Muskrat 7" for a shamelessly uptempo romp through disco that's almost too big for such a small format. Flipside and 7 Inches Of Love main man Koosh adds some tempo based variance with a west coast beat down funker in the shape of "Luv Handles".

Cooper Saver & Patrick Holland - "How About" (7:28)
Eddie C - "Don't Rush" (2:57)
Dane - "Space Up Your Life" (5:08)
El Molito - "Sunny Days In The Chocolate Factory" (5:08)
Review: Here's something of a rarity: a 12" outing from Canada's Common Edit, a label best-known for releasing sneaky 7" singles. Wisely, the label has decided to use the format to serve up more tracks - four, to be precise - with a swathe of scalpel wielding label talent at the controls. Cooper Saver and Patrick Holland kick things off via the Balearic boogie brilliance of synth-laden roller "How About", before Eddie C lights up something fat and fragrant, dips the tempo and goes all jazz-funk on Brazilian disco slow-jam "Don't Rush". Flip to the B-side for the majestic, Clavinet-laden peak-time disco rush of Dane's "Space Up Your Life" (chuckle) and the atmospheric Blaxploitation hustle of El Molito's "Sunny Days in the Chocolate Factory".

Coldwave/Synth
Siaubas - "Haunted White Paper"
Kris Baha - "Tecna"
Disrute - "Contraband"
Dane//Close - "ForJorge"
Review: Proving it's still not safe to hit the streets of Melbourne after dark, Power Cuts are at it again with even more dodgy dealings from shady punks with drum machines and synthesisers. Siaubaus' "Haunted White Paper" is as schlocky a slice of wave-esque 80s beatdown as you could ever wish for, while label boss Kris Baha offers up a particularly crusty vision of acid house. On the B side, Disrute edges towards an industrial, new beat tinted workout that's all about the rasping drum hits above all else. Dane//Close finish the EP off with "ForJorge", an angular, mechanical piece with hidden depths folded into the production.
