Review: The mysterious Deetroit series is back and while we'd love to tell you who these shadowy house bangers are made by, we simply still don't know! What we do know, however, is that number seven in the series is as slick and laid-back as the previous numbers, offering that Michigan charm we all love so much. This being said, while "Deestinction" and "Manana Del Tigre" are chilled, vibed-out and on the funky side, "Forwardeep" itself is wilder and more daring thanks to its wacky bassline. There's more funkiness on the flip with the gritty, swinging beats of "Remembering What You Said" and " Say No More", and the more wavey tones of the "Liaisons Dangereuses". Hotly tipped, of course!

Review: The mysterious artist behind the Deetroit project returns with the fifth instalment of the series and once again, it's nuttin' but pure MPC-house class from whoever is behind the moniker. Six tracks, six different dance tools for the more adventurous DJ, all of them spewing swinging and crunchy beats along with subtle samples and phat basslines. If you're a fan of Pittman, Moodymann, Wilhite and Hall, then look no further because this is for you. Oh, and it could well be them anyway!

To The Deep
Review: The mysterious Deetroit swiftly follows their UDR debut late last year with another selection of ruff and ready hardware house exploring the deeper ends of the genre. "Secret Passage" is full of pumping chords and pounding kicks obscured by a healthy serving of grit, while "Deepression" explores the kind of resonant chimes and thick bass you'd expect from Mr Fingers, albeit with a contemporary twist. On the flip, "Deepssential" pairs classic filtered chords with a robust analogue bassline with all the necessary Motor City attitude, while "To The Deep" offers a peak time slice of house with added helping of machine funk.

The Underground Understands
Reassuringly Analogue
Review: More "unknown" action from the UDR camp, whose hand-stamped 12" singles are fast becoming must-haves for fans of Motor City house and techno. While much of his material is deep, soulful and loopy, with great use of classic soul, jazz and disco samples, these five tracks are more electronic in feel. In fact, they feel more European in origin. Of course, there's still plenty of soul amongst the smoother beats - see the sumptuous deep house of "Yes I Would" and "Making It A Reality" - while "The Underground Understands" offers the best of both worlds; deep chords and darting electronics.

Deetroit Conspiracy
Flow
Review: It's never been revealed who is behind the Unknown Detroit label, but our sources suggest its A Drummer From Detroit who is offering something new for you... This third release on the UDR series continues Deetroit's purist pursuit with four more rock-solid floor jams. No messing, no unnecessary over-production, just raw grooves that sound as reassuringly analogue as they do heavy... Vibes range from the jazz-jack Chi-town motifs of the title track to the loopier, more direct techno bit of "Flow". The conspiracy thickens by the day: be sure to subscribe to it.
