Andakt (8:31)
Grottloop (8:21)
Review: Since Aniara Records came out in the 2010, it has been one of the most well-respected labels on the planet for house and techno. Since the start, fellow Sweden producer Dorisburg has been there from the start and has gone on to release on many other quality labels as well. Andakt creates a shimmering and beautiful hazy atmosphere while the groove is equally as magical. This peak time track will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Epic! 'Grottloop' is a bit more grimy in the trenches but rewarding and slightly euphoric feeling. A great dichotomy of feelings surrounds both of these tracks and that's typical of Aniara overall. They take things to a higher level on their releases thanks to their band of strong producers. This EP is a smash!

Skulptur 7 (7:25)
Review: Deep techno's many darlings will be treasured for a good long time, and Dorisburg is among the most renowned out today. While the Swedish artist is known for their leanings into dreamy future garage, the new EP 'Voices' - the first of three new EPs for fellow label Aniara - hears a more unswung, nuance-heavy pair of minimal shufflers. A shimmering, shivering mood is emitted from the fray of the A-track 'Voices', with its Tin Man-style melodic acid happily dancing front and centre, while the B 'Skulptur 7' routinely asks "what?" as ricocheting knocks pan from left to right, hat-tickling us into a textural state of oblivion.

House Organ For The Lonely (8:33)
Fumana Prophecy (6:49)
Rhythm Paint (5:55)
Review: Following his adventures with Effraiim Kent earlier this year, Sweden's Alex Berg makes his debut on Phonica with a triplet of slinky, pared-back minimal tech work-outs. Each track representing a different side of palette 'House Organ For The Lonely' eases us in softly with Innervisions style pads and a molten, ever-evolving bass bedrock. 'Fumana Prophecy' takes us much deeper down Berg's rabbit hole where the bassline stays fluid but the pads are replaced by more rhythmic elements and low end shades. For the full Berg blow-out flip for the trippy, sexy harmonic affair 'Rhythm Paint'. Think 'Erotic Discourse' but more mangled and off-beat to suit these strange, unnerving times.

Venom (8:00)
Serum (3:31)
Review: Despite earning a reputation for being one of European techno's most prolific producers, Alexander Berg has been surprisingly quiet of late. 2016 saw just a single Dorisburg 12" release, while this two-track assault marks his first release of 2017. "Venom" has all the hallucinogenic qualities of a tropical snakebite, with trippy, mind-altering electronic riffs and outer-space effects writhing around an hypnotic late night techno groove. The "lost on the dancefloor at 5am" feel continues on flipside "Serum", a more minimalist affair where bold analogue riffs and skittish tech-house noises rise above an undulating, early morning groove.

Time Stretch Totem (9:08)
Lemuria (8:25)
Review: Alexander "Dorisburg" Berg has been with Sweden's Aniara Recordings since the start, both as part of Genius of Time as well as a solo producer. This two-tracker is his fourth outing for the imprint, and sees him take a trip into the murky waters of late night, basement-friendly deep house. Seemingly designed for the kind of parties that go on for days, "Time Stretch Totem" mixes druggy, tribal textures and moody electronics, with the kind of clicking, undulating rhythm most often associated with German tech-house. Flipside "Lemuria" is more percussively bold, with much of the track's allure coming from its' distinctive, broken-house groove. There are, of course, plenty of tipsy, horror-tinged textures and fizzing tech-house sounds to enjoy, but these largely play second fiddle to Berg's brilliant beats.

Review: Alexander Berg has been a busy boy of late. Hot on the heels of his druggy, voodoo-inspired "Time Stretch Totem" 12" comes this expansive double-pack for the consistently impressive Hivern Discs stable. In keeping with both his work and that of the label he's starring on, Irrbloss is hard to place, featuring as it does atmospheric, out-there explorations that variously touch on experimental deep house, IDM, ambient, crystalline techno and throbbing late night wonkiness. Despite the eclecticism, it all makes perfect sense, and comes cloaked in an air of feverish confusion that's never less than beguiling. We shouldn't have expected anything less.

Dimension Sculpture (original mix) (7:13)
Dimension Sculpture (Lando Freak It mix) (8:19)
Review: With a title like Dimension Sculpture, you'd expect this latest missive from Bossmusik man Dorisburg - his first for Myth - to doff a cap to the classic sounds of techno, primarily ricocheting electronic melodies, clattering drums and sci-fi obsessed electronics. Happily, it does just that, throwing in some spooky chords for good measure. Lando delivers an altogether deeper and woozier interpretation on the flip, contrasting Dorisburg's original groove - all metallic hits, locked-in kick drums and fizzing cymbals - with ghostly, drawn-out chords, sampled vocal yelps and all the pained intensity of a tearful child with their hand stuck in a car door.

Business Propaganda
Uncertainly
Review: Northern Electronics return here with their fourteenth release and it comes from an unexpected source in Dorisburg. Also known as one half of Genius Of Time, Alexander Berg's solo project is not a name one would immediately associate with the frosted sonic vistas of Northern Electronics on the basis of previous output for Aniara and Bossmusik. However the three tracks present on Splade certainly suggest Berg doesn't look out of place on the NE roster alongside Abdulla Rashim, Varg, Acronym and the others. "Splade" finds Berg expertly toying with delay and effects over a refined dub techno groove that bristles with detailed abstraction, whilst the excellent "Business Propaganda" brings a touch of the West Country steppers vibe to proceedings. B-side hugger "Uncertainly" is the kind of dubby terrain you want to lose yourself in.

Eller
Review: In addition to his celebrated work as part of Genius of Time, Alexander Berg has been building a profile as a solo producer under the Dorisburg mantle with releases for Aniara and Bossmusik. Berg's solo moves focus on robust, no-nonsense techno with just the right amount of murky, clandestine textures and that's very much the case on this second Bossmusik drop. Heavyweight drums and impressive percussion programming are the key to production potency here, and "Liksom" is particularly revelatory. Not only is the groove dense and rolling, it also includes some fantastically jackin' drum machine builds. "Eller" is a little deeper (and certainly murkier), with punchy but swinging percussion underpinning weird chords and strange textures.

Studs
Review: Hailing from Stockholm, new label Bossmusik launch in style with a tight two track twelve inch from Dorisburg! Perhaps best known as one half of Genius Of Time, Alexander Berg's own releases for the Aniara label as Dorisburg remain some of our favourites here at Juno HQ, yet you can't fail to be impressed by his work here. Lead track "Smuts" is quite magical, maintaining a deepness throughout yet still deviating down various pockets of percussive interest that keep you hypnotised for its near eight minute duration. It's complemented by "Studs" which starts out in fairly stripped back fashion but Berg gradually brings in more and more drums and rhythmic elements with the results sounding like a contemporary squeeze on old Chicago drum trax. Boss music indeed!

Transform
Review: A welcome return for Sweden's finest exponents of sumptuous house music, as Dorisburg delivers two tracks on this excellent twelve from Aniara. Newcomers to the label will find much to like here, with the aptly titled "Tundra" an expansive number that gradually accrues illuminating layers of melody and rich rhythm. The track has a constant upwards trajectory yet retains the feeling of gentle restraint, the deep burnt spinal synth oscillations providing the requisite hypnotic effect. On the B Side "Transform" sees Dorisburg indulge in immaculately crafted dubby house with vaguely techy overtones, frosted textures of dark sound gradually rising through the mist to lock into the stripped down percussion.

Attjo (4:51)

Skrattack (5:29)
Review: Producer/DJs Dorisburg and Efraim Kent have pretty much always dealt in textural, knocky takes on the intersection between minimal and bass music, and this sensibility more than shines through on their latest split EP, 'Further'. The A-side would work just as well in a Plastic People revival rave as it would a minimal neeks' free-for-all, working in endlessly-shifty laser wibbles, risers and a yobby vocal shout. B-sider 'Attjo' is no less fidgety, but errs on the minimal tech side, but also comes with a subtle 'tribal' umbrage, with ghostly spirits seemingly conjured in firelit reverb and drum hits.

Review: Tikita is a new label record label focused on body & mind music. Starting out with the deep and hypnotic tribalism of Dorisburg and Efraim Kent's "Bubblebad", Japanese legend DJ Nobu then starts trancing you out on the deep acid trip that is "Safari". On the flip we've got the Prologue affiliated Iori with "Transparent" which further explores his awe inspiring take on modern ambient music; absolutely lush this one is! Finally Neapolitan purveyors of trance induction Natural/Electronic System are back with "Emersione"; a slow burning and emotive journey with eerie pads, delayed drums and sonar blips just made for dropping out to!

Johannes Beck - "Rendezvous"
Review: For their seventh release, Leipzig imprint Kann Records present Family Horror, a sumptuous double twelve selection of tracks from label holders, close friends and beloved artists. Proceedings commence in suitably deep surrounds via Dorisburg, a key part of the Aniara Recordings family who've arisen with such aplomb from Gothenburg of late. "Emotion" proves to be as captivating as anything they've done to date, with snatches of delicate vocals emerging from a glacial house throb and unfolding into something deep and warm. Elsewhere Chicago leaning ruffness from Sevensol & Bender on "Molly" is matched by Even Tuell's excellent "Dramaqueen" - an experimental track dominated by gaseous clouds of analogue bass. With further contributions from Efdemin, map.ache and Johannes Beck, this is a release that impresses upon first listen but truly captivates after repeated play.

Review: Circle Of Live is a collaborative electronic project led by the Swedish techno artist Sebastian Mullaert. It aims to reevaluate the structures of performance, linking artists and their machines for improvised jams. It debuted at Baskerville Hall as part of Wales based Freerotation festival, featuring a revolving cast of musicians, who in this incarnation included such big names as Mathew Jonson, Dorisburg and Johanna Knutsson, alongside festival and label co-founder Steevio. With artists like this linking up, you can just imagine what kind of magic they'd possibly conjure up and we can assure you it's absolutely sublime. These five excerpts from the live performance capture some of their most dynamic and spellbinding moments.

Evigt Morker - "Levande Och Dreglande" (3:42)
Lenxi - "Protect Myself" (3:43)
Review: Representing the best of the current Dutch scene, leading leftfield label Nous'Klaer Audio links up with top-tier festival Draaimolen. This heavyweight 12" features a generous swathe of talent who all appeared on the label's Aura stage at this year's edition of the end of season highlight. Oceanic leads the way with the gorgeous, shimmering exploration of 'Cable Crew', which also served as the 2022 theme for Draaimolen. Nicola Cruz delivers that signature strain of mutant tech house which we can't get enough of, while Human Space Machine and Mary Lake join forces for the steppy, bleepy workout 'Trck_04'. Arkajo and Dorisburg deliver on their shared reputation as deep-diving psychonauts in the field of modern deep techno, Evigt Morker nestles into micro slithers of fractured rhythm and Lenxi folds pop and glitch into a compelling whole to cap off a standout record.

Review: Swedish label Bror goes for a various artist collection entitled 'Coven' and featuring artists who have been "invited to interpret the phenomenon of witchcraft in the present time." Out was meant to land back at Haloween, but no matter, because the excellently haunting sounds will always leave a mark on any dance floor no matter the time of year. Label founder DJ Lily goes for a high octane piece of shimmer techno on 'Meet The High Priestess' and Tam Nisam then slows it down to a more paranoid groove that will have you looking over your shoulder. It's a more icy and minimal affair on 'Devour' from Tora Vinter, and Dorisburg go for a superbly slick, well designed but of deep techno that Donato Dozzy would be proud of.
