Club Land (6:42)
Club Land (alternate mix) (6:17)
Crowd Control (6:43)
Run Run Slow (5:46)
Review: Frits Wentink continues his long-running relationship with Wolf Music, a partnership that is now entering its eleventh year. 'Club Land', the title track from the Dutch producer's first EP of 2024, is a nostalgic and glassy eyed affair, whose sparkling piano riffs, bumpin' house beats, mazy synth solos and rubbery bassline sit somewhere between the Frankie Knuckles and MK productions of the mid 1990s. The A-side also boasts a slightly jazzier and more US garage-influenced 'Alternate Mix' that also boasts some rather addictive organ stabs. Over on side B, he opts for a deep, dubby and trippy sound on 'Crowd Contriol', before doffing a cap once more to vintage NYC and NJ deep house on superb closing cut 'Run Run Slow'. One of his best for a while and that's saying something!

Royale (5:38)
Intentions (6:11)
Move Steady (6:18)
Review: Frits Wentink has a sharp and snappy sound which has yielded some of the freshest, funkiest house music in recent memory. Channeling the swing and soul of the finest UKG with a European deep house sensibility, he's back on Wolf Music with three new slices of dancefloor gold. 'Royale' is laden with crafty chord lines and a groove to die for, absolutely for the heads but incredibly accessible with it. 'Intentions' captures a little of Mood II Swing's distinctive crunch and injects it with plaintive jazz piano for a deep, contemplative joint, and 'Move Steady' draws on techy synths and a scuffed, head nodding beat with a subtle streak of uplift.

You Talk Funny (5:45)
Forestation (5:29)
Shred Bread (7:19)
Review: Rooting the productions of Frits Wentink in one specific style has always been tough, primarily because he makes quirky, oddball house and techno numbers that draw inspiration from the dust-encrusted, sample-rich haziness of MPC-driven instrumental hip-hop. His latest EP, which arrives on the popular Bobby Donny imprint, is another boundary-blurring affair that's closest in tone and style to deep house, but is as far from 'standard' deep house as you'd expect. It's a great collection of cuts all told, with our picks being the bassline driven, alien-sounding unorthodoxy of 'You Talk Funny', the warped, mind-mangling tech-house-jazz of 'Forestation' and the deliciously hazy, hypnotic dub-house of 'Shred Bread'.

Double Man (6:00)
Friends (6:17)
Trouble Man (6:04)
Review: Clone Royal Oak welcome back the widely-admired veteran Fritz Wentink for another of his high energy house EPs. 'Double Man' is a real sweaty workout that jacks the floor on big, steel plated drums. They almost sound live for the way they dance around so freely while a cosmic arp flutters up top. It makes for a track filled with celebratory good feelings, and 'Friends' keeps the good times rolling with another boisterous and muscular groove, this time with more tripped out effects. The closer is like a skeletal garage work out with its clipped vocals and sci-fi sounds.

Review: Bobby Donny head honcho Frits Wentink is back with the third edition of his BODOX remix/edit series, serving up more two bar house and chord stuff than you can shake an MPC at. Hear the Amsterdam-based house hero (and sometime Will & Ink man) get freaky like Adina - whatever time of day - on the smooth and smoky Rhodes-led vibe of the A side's first joint, while more dusty and evocative late night deepness awaits you on the flip. This is chased up by the rather upbeat shuffle of the S.A.D. Mix on B2, which is sure to get the hands in the air with its big piano chords. This will be limited to 800 copies, so don't sleep on this one people!

Theme 09 (6:39)

Theme 11 (7:45)
Theme 12 (4:56)
Review: Frits Wentink delivers a third volume in his ongoing "Two Bar House Music & Chord Stuff" series, offering up another quartet of numerically titled "themes".The Bobby Donny supremo hits the ground running with "Theme 09", a swirling, smoky and dusty workout that sits somewhere between the horizontal haziness of Vancouver deep house and the bustling grooviness of basement-bothering mid-90s US house. "Theme 10" is a little more loose and lo-fi in tone, with Wentink utilizing all manner of cheap vintage synths and drum machines, while "Theme 11" is slower and jazzier with distinctive '80s synth-funk influences. "Theme 12", meanwhile, is dubby, driving and low-slung whilst retaining a hint of off-kilter jazz-funk.

Theme 07 (6:28)
Theme 08 (5:58)
Review: The first volume in Frits Wentink's Two Bar House Music and Chord Stuff series won plenty of plaudits when Wolf Music slung it out last summer. Happily, the eccentric Dutch producer seems to have raised his game even further on this fine follow-up. Check, for example, deliciously trippy opener "Theme 5", where vocal snippets, organ riffs and sci-fi synth sounds are drenched in tape delay and wrapped around a skewed deep house groove, and the bolder, bass-heavy bustle of saucer-eyed peak-time wobbler "Theme 7". Elsewhere, he combines the dreamy dustiness of Mood Hut style deep house with the cheeriness of Italian piano house on "Theme 8" and gets locked into a soulful, deep and bass-heavy vibe on the similarly impeccable "Theme 6".

Track 1 (4:53)
Track 2 (5:10)
Track 3 (5:32)
Track 4 (4:59)
Review: Frits Wentink's next release on his own Bobby Donny label finds him editing some tracks he has been playing on his radio show for a while. They are originally by Vertiqua, a German lo-fi hip hop producer that remains unknown. This is a perfectly aged combination of hip-hop and house that will get any floor bouncing. All four of these tracks have been edited to make them more suited to the dancefloor. On the A side we have the first track which features some hazy Money $ex style chill house with dope beats, that's also peppered with some on point rhyming from the original. On the flip, we were really feeling the B2 cut which is powered by Wentink's dusty four to the floor beat and some emotive Rhodes chords all coated in that lovely vinyl crackle and some scratched vocal samples. Comes in limited 12" hand numbered vinyl that is limited to only 500 copies, so good lord: do not sleep on this one!

Theme 01 (5:57)
Theme 02 (4:49)
Theme 03 (4:53)
Theme 04 (6:05)
Review: First in a three part series by Dutch producer Frits Wentink, presented in a hand stamped picture sleeve. Wentink has been one of The Netherlands' most steady artists since his first release in 2012. As the head honcho of both Will & Ink and Bobby Donny, he is known for pushing quality house music. Starting off with with the neon-lit late night groove of "Theme 01", the slo-mo boogie down groove of "Theme 02" is equally impressive and had us reminiscing of classic Metro Area. On the flip, "Theme 03" is the EP's most straight up moment: this kind of dusty deep house with sexy retro synths and sleek vox samples are right up our street. "Theme 04" is a woozy and disjointed groove, with its broken beats and skittering melodies getting and inventive groove on: that's for sure.

Review: Earlier this year, Wolf Music regular Frits Wentink had the honour of delivering the first release on pal Steve Mensink's Bobby Donny label. Here, he provides a swift follow-up, serving up for left-of-centre workouts. He begins with "Horses In Cornfield", a delightfully skewed fusion of crazy electronics, wobbly sub and bumpin' electronics, before showcasing the more downtempo side of his work on the experimental, analogue beat science of "Girls In Matching Bathing Suits". Flip for the rolling, swinging beats and fuzzy melodies of "Man At Parade", and the cracked, distorted, bluesy late night deep house of "Bouquet At Rest".

Blaise Montoya (8:02)
Hummel (5:43)
Etna Deline (5:26)
Review: Wolf Music continues to evolve as a label, with recent releases showcasing a much more mature, dustier and quietly soulful feel than some of their earlier outings. Certainly, there was a smoky, jazz-flecked vibe to Medlar's recent 12", and this EP from regular contributor Frits Wentink is suitably fuzzy, glitchy and groovy. Opener "Blaise Montoya" sets the tone, with watery riffs, grainy jazz samples and bluesy vocal samples riding an undulating, US-garage influenced groove. There's a similar, if chunkier, feel to "Hummel", while "Etna Devine" goes further into left-of-centre, jazz-influenced deep house territory. Like the EP's other tracks, it feels a little more inventive and out-there than your average deep house jam.

Review: It's no surprise to see Amsterdam man Fritz Wentink issuing his debut album through Wolf Music, as the London label have been staunch supporters of his work with two 12" contributions over the past two years. The wonderfully named Rarely Pure, Never Simple adds to Wolf Music's growing artist album profile following long players from main men Medlar and Greymatter and further develops the all encompassing production style Wentink has displayed so eloquently for Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings and others. He seems most impressive on the more downbeat tracks done in collaboration with Loes Jongerling who possesses a quite astounding vocal delivery, though those craving some proper house will totally dig on cuts like "The Excitement Happens At Page 320".

If I Was To Gravy You
Review: Keeping the pace up with his many aliases, the man also known as Felix Lenferink steps up to the eminently groovesome Heist imprint with four slices of choppy house music for those who like soul as much as brain-bugging production skills. "Schrewd" matches friendly vocal slices and fluttering keys with cheeky bass grind and a healthy swing, while "Ligament" works some serious dubby tones into a steadily soaring jam. "Sauce" gets more delirious in its manipulation of jazz and soul samples around a detailed, clattering beat, and then "If I Was Gravy To You" takes things into a steamy headspace full of piston-pumping drums and sensual vocal snippets.

Common Posy (Liam Geddes remix)
Review: Thanks to his releases on Wolf Music, Amsterdam-based producer Frits Wentink is something of a rising star. Here, he freshens up his unique style - bass-heavy and influenced by classic US house, but wonky and more than a little leftfield - by delivering a trio of skewed, experimental deep house cuts. "Marienleben" is particularly revelatory, layering sparse, poignant piano and twisted vocal samples over a surprisingly loose, garage-influenced groove. "Spasmodic" is a little more in-your-face, making use of twisted, mind-altering electronics, while "Common Posy" is arguably the most obviously floor-friendly of the lot (its' beats are a touch heavier, and the discordant electronics add power). Liam Geddes remixes the latter track, delivering a smooth and hypnotic tech-house interpretation.

Amasa
Review: A man with many guises, Frits Wentink (or Felix Lenferink, or Presk, or many more) makes his way over to Wolfskuil to further espouse his distinctinve brand of bouncy deep house across three tracks with their own twists on the sound he has been shaping since first emerging in 2011. "Fluffy Tit" has a hooky blend of jazzy chords and slim guitar licks that ride over a deceptively chunky rhythm section that hits hard without dulling the nimble skip of the groove. "Zeitus" takes a marginally more stripped approach that lets the drums and bass take the lead while a selection of vocal hums and murmurs form the subtle melodic content. "Amasa" whips another ice-cold melody out of thin air, this time running it around a stiff beat before switching into a more limber kind of house that plays on all Wentink's skills.

Review: Here's something to get the blood pumping: a surprise collaboration that brings together Dutch stalwart Frits Wentink and rising star DJ Boring (E-Beamz, Lost Palms) for the very first time. The pair are in fine form on cheeky A-side "Oli Coony", a bustling, dub-fired fusion of shuffling early UK breakbeat, dreamy deep house and quirky cut-up madness that's as funky and floor-friendly as it is unusual. On the flipside they get busy with strange, vari-speed synthesizer tones and a bustling, bass-heavy, UKG-influenced deep house rhythm on "Derek Anthony", before opting for a chunkier groove and intricately edited stabs on head-mangling late night roller "Chad Brothers", which also boasts a seriously addictive bassline.

Review: This deluxe 12" and 10" package is the first in what Detroit Swindle promise will be an annual occurrence - a "family remix EP", where members of the Heist Recordings roster rework label releases from the previous 12 months. It's a neat idea, and one that's undoubtedly resulted in some killer material. The Organ Grinder's surging, heavily percussive rework of Frits Wentik's "Schrewd" is particularly heavy, though it is Max Graef's loose, soulful, groovy and sample-heavy reinterpretation of Detroit Swindle's "The Break Up" is probably the standout. That said, there's plenty to cheer elsewhere, not least Nachtbraker's cowbell-laden, acid house-meets-nu-disco version of Max Graef and Andy Hart's "Jungle".
