Review: Japanese techno maverick Fumiya Tanaka is a real underground favourite. He dropped a classic triple album on Perlon back in 2019 and further EPs in 2020. Earlier this year he released the first part of his One More Thing album on Sundance and now comes the second half across two more slabs of wax. His infectious, stripped-back house sound is here in all its glory, with smart vocals ampler adding character to the title track, lush synths fleshing out 'Paris Butterfly', and irresistible drums defining 'Cosmic Tension'. This is as good as minimal gets.

Review: Cult minimalist Fumiya Tanaka last released an album on Perlon in 2019. He now returns with a new collection of precision tool tracks hat have been made by sampling his own sounds from his own DAT tape archive from the 90s. Reconstructing those sounds today in news ways makes for a faultless blend of the old and the new. There are silky, dubby tech house tunes, rich melodic minimal work outs and deep house grooves along the way. This release is the first part of 'One More Thing' with the second part dude later in 2022 as a separate double pack.

Review: Three years on from his last full-length outing on Perlon, Japanese techno maverick Fumiya Tanaka returns to the admirable Japanese imprint with an eccentric set bristling with off-kilter dancefloor treats. His particular take on minimal techno is far more rubbery, synthesizer-rich and funky than many of his peers, a trait that makes his glitchy but elastic club cuts stand out from the crowd. Highlights across the three slabs of wax include the bleeping, dub-wise peak-time weirdness of the title track, the sub-heavy jazz/minimal techno fusion of "Breakthrough", the Villalobos-gone-wild flex of "I Want To Be A Human Being" and the squelchy, loose-limbed goodness of "Birth Of The Respect Club".
