Soundtracks For No Film Vol 2
Cat: ACIDO 015. Rel: 15 Oct 13

Soundtracks
291out - "Ovest"
291out - "Il Viaggio"
291out - "Inside You"
291out - "Workin' Glam (Bop Singlayer)"
291out - "Automobil Club Lugano"
291out - "Emptyness"
Healing Force Project - "Opium"
Review: Acido Records is rightfully gaining something of a cult following akin to the Sex Tags crew it is vaguely affiliated with, though the Berlin based label has its own defined aesthetic approach thanks to the stewardship of founder Dynamo Dreesen. In a week where the label serves up some excellent new produce from the Dresvn pairing of Dynamo Dreesen and SVN, Acido also slip out a second round of their Soundtracks For No Film series. Heavily conceptual in tone and execution, 291out largely contributes this time with a hefty six productions of outer spatial electronics which at times sound befitting of a contemporary Kafka screen adaptation and other times eminently suitable for the dancefloor ("Automobil Club Lugano" in particular) Do check the flip which has Sequencias contributor Healing Force Project excelling with the suitably named "Opium".

Drifted Entities Vol 1
Cat: BMR 031. Rel: 18 Aug 22

Broken Beat/Nu Jazz
Tiny Germs (9:06)
Upbeat Damage (7:40)
Everything Is Frequency (7:55)
Double Orbit (6:34)
Diorama Obscura (6:34)
Review: Healing Force Project is prolific Italian artist Antonio Marini. Over the last decade he has dropped plenty of heat on the likes of Firecracker, Berceuse Heroique, 2 Headed Deer, Random Numbers and more. Drifted Entities Vol 1 is his latest offering and is an experimental take on dub, cosmic funk, jazz and drum & bass with the HFP signature unifying it all. 'Tiny Germs' opens up on dark, sparse drums that are kinda haunting then 'Upbeat Damage' is a deconctructed jungle jazz cut with squealing synths that bring the horror. The flip side continues in that eerie manner with fresh musicality and loose arrangements drawing you in.

Techno
Kinetic Drawing (8:08)
Kinetic Drawing (Porn Sword Tobacco Yoga BBQ Night Beach edit) (8:53)
Review: Always known as a wild maverick on the fringes of electronic music, Healing Force Project follows up on stellar appearances for Firecracker and Bedouin to deliver this incisive creation to Wicked Bass. With drums at strange angles and a certain touch of discordant dread around the synth tones lingering in the background, one would think "Kinetic Drawing" is a chaotic, clamouring mess, but instead it comes on like a poised, perfect slice of transcendental mystery. For those wanting a little structure to work such a mood into the mix, who better than Porn Sword Tobacco to shake a little salt into the track with his "Yoga BBQ Night Beach Edit"?

Transhumanism EP
Cat: AMBIWA 03. Rel: 13 Apr 16

Techno
Methodical Ear (7:24)
Shadow Manipulation Of Mind (5:59)
Sinapsi Sonora (7:11)
State Of Induced Hibernation (5:06)
Review: Antonio Marini aka Healing Force Project is back with the Tranhumanism EP on Ambiwa. Starting out with the ever mysterious "Methodical Ear", it's more of the same later on "Sinapsi Sonora" which like the previously mentioned track sounds like the dusty and emotive deepness of early Sound Signature via the tough and rusty swing of fellow Italians Relative; a nice touch indeed. He then gives us the brooding and hypnotic "Shadow Manipulation Of The Mind" awash in delay drenched organs and skeletal vintage drum machine flair. But the fierce yet restrained functionalism of "State Of Induced Hibernation" with its near tribal moments supported by a series of exotic and mindbending drones is pure bliss. We'll say it again: Marini is undoubtedly one of the most underrated producers in techno at the moment!

Techno
Saturation System (7:37)
WayWard Flow (7:32)
Cube Of Metatron (9:12)
Sensory Deprivation (7:50)
Review: On this EP for the reliably trippy Bedouin Records, Bercuese Heroique regulars Healing Force Project take a trip into the far reaches of the galaxy. Heavily influenced by early '90s "intelligent techno", ambient house and electronic psychedelia, all four tracks sound like they were recorded after several days of sustained high-grade abuse. There's some clandestine, off-kilter acid - the "recorded in orbit" oddness of "Cube of Metatron" - a sliver of out-there ambient jazz (the sublime chords, mixed-down rhythms, discordant saxophones and Namlook synth doodles of "Sensory Deprivation"), and a chunk of impossible-to-define downtempo creepiness ("WayWard Flow"). Best of all, though, is the spacey, analogue deep house shuffle of opener "Saturation System".

Hypnotik Suggestion #2 (vinyl edition bonus track)
Review: Italy's Healing Force Project aka Antonio Marini has to be one of the most underrated techno artists in the game. With releases on some of the most respected underground labels, including Dynamo Dreesen's Acido and New York's Sequencias, Marini has been quietly shaping the sound of the underground for a few years now. This time, we have the pleasure of listening to his debut album, the aptly named Omicron Segment, originally released on cassette last year. As you'd expect from HFP, the LP format is one for him to experiment and digress into a total dream-like state, where ambient soundscapes are intertwined with sparse techno sketch-works and jazzy instrumentation. "Asymmetrical Ritual" stands out in the mix thanks to its organic percussion, something that always features in Marini's music. "Hypnotik Suggestion 2" is about as techno as you're going to get on here, but it's not the beats that makes HFP's music so seductive, but rather, it's the spaces in between.
