Review: The Bassiani label is the platform for the infamous Georgian club to present its sound to the wider world, and it does so in fantastic fashion with this run of various artist releases. This fourth release kicks off with the dark, textured and brilliantly rendered techno immersion of Cassegrain's "Departure Seven", while Ersatz Olfolks gets a little more heated with the strafing synth work that courses out of "Straight Road". Hector Oaks is also in a rowdy frame of mind with the peak time belter "Move In Circles, Walk On Lines", and it's down to Thomas Hessler to cool things off with the heart-rending electro of "Memories".

Review: As the title suggests, this "Fundraiser Compilation" from Essen party series The Third Room aims to raise money to keep its founders, resident DJs and regular venue in business during the clubbing crisis caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A stellar cast of artists has been assembled to help out, with highlights coming from Dax J, whose "Dezine" is a surging and throbbing slab of EBM/techno fusion, Ellen Allien, whose alien-sounding "C19 Bitch" is a twisted and mind-altering delight, and robust acid-techno adventurers Obscure Shape & SHDW (the hard-as-nails, TB-303-fired insanity of "Die Veruteillen").

Review: Possession is a new label, and if this multi-artist musical manifesto is anything to go by, we can expect plenty of high-quality fusions of EBM, techno and trance from the imprint in the months and years ahead. After Hector Oaks AKA DJKAOS11 sets the tone with a slab of loopy new-wave techno-funk ('No Darkest Light Will Shut Out Light'), Nene H takes over with a bombastic, high-octane romp that fixes a pitched-up EBM bassline to a stomping techno beat. Even weightier is flipside opener 'P05535510N' by 999999999, where a lone voice shouts "I wanna new brain please' over a cranium-smashing blend of ten-ton techno beats and razor-sharp trance-style stabs. Pawlowski's EP closer 'Demonic Dimensions' should also delight all those who like their dance music fast, heavy, acid-flecked and trance-inducing.

Review: Hector Oaks' Kaos label has been busy this year with a steady stream of various artist releases, not to mention an incendiary 12" from u.r.trax. Now comes something different which finds Oaks teaming up with singer Coco Paloma for an EP which reaches beyond the confines of techno into a more pop-oriented direction. There's still plenty of dancefloor bite in 'No Hay Manana (Club Mix)', but it feels like Paloma's voice and lyrics are the focal point of this project. 'Danger For You' sees Oaks slowing his trademark heavy-hitting sound down to frame Paloma's stunning voice in a half-time thump which could well catch a wave and bother the charts. There's more late night action to be enjoyed on 'Chasing Highs' and then 'Player Three' switches things up once again with a pivot between trap and D&B that lands smoother than you might well expect.

Review: Soma go super tough on this banging new EP which finds label bosses Slam link up with three different hard techno producers. First up is 999999999 with whom they cook up the visceral 'Conveyer,' a driving and linear banger with frosted synth work. It is Berlin favourite Hector Oaks who is next up with the thumping great drums of 'Pathfinder.' Bright, trance-like synths light up the airwave above the unrelenting drums and then Optic Nerve step up with Slam for 'Machine Conflict,' a track that rocks back and forth on prying leads, with coarse hits and static electricity making for the most intense of grooves.
