Keepin' The Legacy Vol 2
Cat: HIZOU 009. Rel: 16 Jan 17

Deep House
Abacus/Chez Damier - "Closer" (Jorge Caiado Morning dub) (6:58)
James Duncan - "416 Zone Dub" (6:24)
Jacksonville - "Twilight Industries" (7:58)
Satore - "Keep On" (5:31)
Review: Well over two years has passed since the release of Keeping The Legacy, a compilation style EP featuring tracks inspired by "the classic sounds from Chicago, New York and Detroit". This belated follow-up begins with something rather special: a fine Jorge Caiado 'Morning Dub' of lesser known Abacus and Chez Damier hook-up "Closer". While it boasts their usual chunky, groovy bottom-end, the mix also makes great use of a yearning, cyclical electronic melody. Elsewhere, James Duncan delivers the hazy deep house bump of "416 Zone (Dub Mix)", Jacksonville laces dreamy, drifting chords over a killer bassline and heavy percussion on "Twilight Industries", and Satore reaches for the cowbells and Gwen Guthrie vocal samples on the disco-influenced throb of "Keep On".

Huerta - "DAYL" (5:08)
Jacksonville - "Data Log" (7:03)
Nlxlb - "Gravitate" (6:35)
100Hz - "Ggg" (6:52)
Review: Hizou Deep Rooted Music is one of those quality-assured imprints that is always well worth checking in with. This latest platter is another on that truly matters with Huerta opening up with 'DAYL' which showcases his distinctive blend of spaced-out breaks and silky tech house. Jacksonville's 'Data Log' is ahems down and deep late-night cosmic excursion and Nlxlb's 'Gravitate' keeps you afloat on mellifluous astral lines and twinkling melodic stars. 100Hz shuts down with 'Ggg', a unique mix of floating pads and barely-there rhythm that grow in stature as your journey to the certain edges of the galaxy unfolds.

Neptune 4 (7:28)
Sebastopol Rd (6:16)
Fragment 7 (6:58)
Review: Jacksonville has skirted around deeper corners of the electronic music landscape for over 10 years, landing on labels as varied as Thug, Hizou Deep Rooted Music and Inner Shift. He returns to the latter with some of his most refined work to date, leading in with the snaking programming of broken beat immersion heater "Machines Of Loving Grace" before turning up the intensity with the spiritual uplift of hi-tech soul joint "Neptune 4". "Sebastopol Rd" takes things in a more explicitly house oriented direction, before "Fragment 7" beams back skywards for one more celestial trip around the sun.

Every Single Word
Review: Inner Shift Music presents Jacksonville aka Chris Lyth who was featured on their Collective Continents EP with 'The City Sleeps'. Jacksonville has had releases on several labels including Atmospheric Existence, Thug Records, and on his own rather excellent imprint Doppler Records.

The EP kicks off with Fragment One which is sure to be a dancefloor favourite with it's driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic acid line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. Fragment Two is on a much deeper tip with a lovely bassline and lush melodic synths that interweave doing a delicious dance with each other throughout. Seberg is classic deep house with driving percussion and a funky bassline mixed with rich pads and melodic lines. Last but certainly not least we get Every Single Word, a more harmonic track that finishes off the EP perfectly.

Night Hiker (Boost 'N Time edit)
Review: For their sixth release, Inner Shift Music are proud to present their second various artists compilation. It features four different tracks from different producers, each bringing their own unique yet interconnected sound to the EP.
You may have heard of Jacksonville already, from his superb track (Tokyo) for Atmospheric Existence, as well as releases on his own imprint Doppler records. Following him is the very talented Jose Lau of Deepselect Records from California, bringing with him his signature, warm, intelligent sound, who not surprisingly had a recent release on Pulp. Next is the mysterious duo Gauss, who you probably know about from their imprint of the same name. Their rather excellent track brings a more techy edge to the EP. To finalise the deal, we get a stunning, lush, melodic track from Marco Nega, who has also been seen on labels such as Bumako, UQ and AMR.

Interstellar Groove Addictions Vol 1
Cat: MET 033. Rel: 11 Jul 18

Techno
JEM - "Emotional Discharge" (6:28)
Jacksonville - "The Low Spark" (6:09)
Dan Curtin - "Tease Genius" (5:19)
GOIZ - "Wabi Sabi" (8:08)
Review: It's been a long time coming but now is the time for Metamrophic to present out first various artist compilation. This one features 3 up and coming artists, GOIZ, JEM, and Jacksonville, as well as one track from label head Dan Curtin. Of course the first compilation from Metamorphic had to be called Interstellar Groove Addictions, the unofficial slogan of the label since the beginning. These tracks are modern trips into the unknown, representing the mood of the label perfectly - fierce individuality, evolution in sound, and deeply felt emotional content.

Deep House
Miles Sagnia - "Alchemy"
Jacksonville - "Tokyo"
Tales Ov Rossi - "Flatpress"
Review: The Atmospheric Existence label puts quality before quantity; therefore a new release from Miles Sagnia's operation is always something deep house enthusiasts should cast their sensory receptors over. Their first release of 2013 sees Sagnia feature alongside Thug Records artist Jacksonville and the mysterious Tales Ov Rossi for the Altitude EP. Label boss in call shotgun shock! Sagnia takes the lead with the wonderfully inventive "Alchemy" which drops a singular 303 tone intermittently between a hurried array of broken house and rushing chords; the results sound remarkably refreshing. Alongside it, Jacksonville is in full on star gaze house mode with "Tokyo" whilst Tales Ov Rossi 's "Flatpress" takes proceedings a whole lot deeper on the flip.
