Muba EP
Muba EP (12")
Cat: RXRT 03. Rel: 07 Oct 24

Minimal House/Tech House
Kan (6:59)
Huk (6:44)
Yubu (6:16)
Muba (6:48)
Review: RAWAX welcomes Janeret to their artist bank, also delivering the EP 'Muba' in the process. From the entrancing, tropical greens of 'Kan' to the agri-synth undulations of 'Huk', Janeret paints a distinctively future-organic sonic picture, in which posthumans speak in monosyllabic tongues (as of the track titles) whilst biomech bots handle the entire food commodity production process, from tilling to threshing to logistics to stocking. The music here is like the minimal-tech scrimmage call of a bird of paradise to its flock, all of whom together find themselves happily locked, but still aviatory, inside one of many of these future greenhouses. 'Yubu' and 'Muba' soothe the soul further, the latter especially with its abstracted funk, its synthetic gazes outside casements, through to the world outside.

Passion EP
Cat: SNF 103. Rel: 21 Sep 23

Minimal House/Tech House
D Tool (8:52)
Passion (8:52)
Lush (7:05)
Mind (6:50)
Review: French tech house mainstay Janeret is generally found hanging around labels attached to his home turf like Rutilance, Tartouffe and Yoyaku, but here he links up with Shall Not Fade for an outstanding excursion into prog, electro and silken tech house that proves his worth as a scene-leading producer. 'D Tool' is a deep and throbbing workout with a seductive, dubby edge, while 'Passion' switches stance for a skittering slice of hi-tech soul. 'Lush' lives up to its name with achingly beautiful chord tones blooming out over a sleek, shuffled beat and a sumptuous b-line, and 'Mind' completes the picture with a melodious trip into acid-speckled electro from the soulful end of the spectrum.

Deep House
Expoz
Fraistival
Anomisk
Vertu
Review: Expoz by JanaretT & Miroloja marks another successful collaboration between the two camps, delivering four tracks of beautiful spacey melodic techno and tech house. The A-side opens with the title track, 'Expoz,' a club-focused tech house anthem that balances techy elements with pulsating melodies, setting the tone for the EP. Following is 'Fraistival,' offering a slightly progressive house vibe with a captivating melody that flows seamlessly. On Side 2, 'Anomisk' emerges as a catchy builder, drawing listeners in with its infectious rhythm and evolving layers. Closing the EP is 'Vertu,' a chill deep house gem perfect for late-night sessions, exuding class and elegance while maintaining a melodic allure. The resulting collaboration continues to give us tracks that are both hypnotic and immersive.

Chapelle XIV Music Compilation Vol 1 Part III
Chapelle XIV Music Compilation Vol 1 Part III (heavyweight white vinyl 12")
Cat: CHXIV 0003. Rel: 31 Oct 22

Breakbeat
NSDOS - "BACT-OS" (5:21)
RRoxymore - "Dirty Spoon" (3:58)
Janeret - "Spacetime" (7:54)
Elli Form - "Mirror" (3:12)
Review: This is space music, but not as we know it. The Chapelle XIV Music universe is a world unto its own, with leftfield designs, haunting celestial atmospheres, and a dark sense of futuristic dystopia. The third part of the first volume of their compilation series is another broad and brilliant one that takes in some cosmic outlying jungle from Frenchmen Janet as well as Elli Form's minimal melodic madness and juke beats on 'Mirror' next to the reflective synths and elastic bass of RRoxymore's 'Dirty Spoon' and NSDOS's refractive world of melodic dreams, 'BACT-OS'.
