Erimos (CD)

Experimental/Electronic
  1. Erimos
Review: Maurizio Bianchi's 'Erimos' is the first in a series of works about the spaces 'between the elements'. This album contains a single, 40+ minute exploration.
Heavy on electronics, the amazing thing is how warm the whole piece feels. Bianchi is joined by two of the next generation of Italian sound sculptors,
Hue (aka Matteo Uggeri) and Fhievel (aka Luca Bergero). The two have breathed new life into Bianchi's music, showing that the future of the Italian
underground is brighter than ever. Bianchi began producing music almost 30 years ago in 1979, and since 1980 has used electronic equipment with the
avowed goal 'to produce technological sounds and in such a way to work on complete realising of the modern decadence'. His best known work,
'Symphony For A Genocide', was recently reissued by New York-based Hospital Productions. This seminal work proved what a pioneer in electronic
music he was. On 'Erimos', we find Bianchi stretching time and manipulating sound as always. Over the course of this monster performance, the trio
weave intricate circles around one another, nearly colliding at every point. But the success comes from their abilities to play off each other, resulting in
original and captivating sounds and textures. 'Erimos' is captivating and beautiful, even if its main inspiration comes from something as desolate and
isolated as the deserts on its cover.

  4. Joe Lentini - "MC202FFF" (Rhythm cut) (5:27)
Review: Paul Du Lac's Bio Rhythm label launched The Pleasure Box series back in 2013, seemingly as a vehicle to release multi-artist EPs. Like its' illustrious predecessor, there's much to enjoy on this belated second volume. Marco Bernardi kicks things off with "The Salaman", a slightly creepy combination of drowsy, stretched-out sub-bass, "Psycho" style riffs and loose, hazy beats. Shitcluster follows this up with the industrial-influenced electro shuffle of "Love Machine", before Joe Lentini delivers two contrasting versions of "MC202FFF". First up is the "Rhythm Cut" mix, where blazed steel drum melodies and tipsy electronics ride a loose, disco-influenced rhythm, before he unfurls the discordant jazz horns and creepy orchestration of the "Original Version".

Review: Oh yes! Some of you out there will have picked up on Shout Outs to the Weirdos in Rathmines, Morgan Buckley's Rush Hour No Label debut last year which presented the young unheralded Dublin artist as both immensely creative and capable of some mind bending electronic music. We are super excited to see Buckley back on No Label with Shplitting The Shtones, a split LP with the unknown Olmo Devin that veers further off piste in the most enticing of fashions. It's Devin that mans the A-side with three tracks that range from tropical house ("Sol Baize At The Chinga") to odd krauty Balearic excursions ("Eau-De-Vie") and the unclassifiable vignette that is "Manual Greever". Buckley supplies the same amount of productions on the B side and it's fair to say 10 minute track "Miwp (Miwpy Mix)" is the highlight coming across like Stereolab jacked up on some particularly potent mushrooms.
