Kai Alce - "Scene 2"
Michael Zucker - "Summer Time"
Reggie Dokes - "Running"
Review: The Finale Sessions Select series finds Michael Zucker steering his label into new, techy pastures with a host of esteemed guests on board. For this fourth round, he's called upon Kai Alce and Reggie Dokes to stand alongside him in demonstrating exactly what's great about contemporary house and techno. Alce is up first with "Scene 2", bringing a bubbly, sleek confection of machine soul to the table. Zucker gets things rolling along steady with the heady trip of "Summer Time", and then Reggie Dokes sends the record drifting off on a wonderfully crooked tip with "Running".

Anaxander - "Stabs Of Love"
Michael Zucker - "Greater Is He"
Michael Zucker - "Lost Without You"
Anaxander - "Heart 2 Heart"
Review: Finale Sessions welcomes Anaxander to join label main man Michael Zucker for another one of those impeccable trips through top shelf deep house. Anaxander gets busy with "Stabs Of Love", a truly ear nagging piece that cuts through the glut of soundalike productions to say something truly special. Meanwhile his "Heart 2 Heart" resides on the B2, presenting a lighter, more playful cut peppered with pattering bongos and sprightly keys. Zucker gets into a slightly off kilter funk on "Greater Is He" before dropping into a perfect bump on "Lost Without You", putting some swing into dub house and making it sound natural.

MTA
Over The Top
Foundation (part 1)
Reflection
Review: If you're going to launch a label, it's always wise to start with a bang. That's exactly what newcomers Audio Visual have done here, recruiting Detroit veteran Terrence Dixon and Chez Damier cohort Michael Zucker (boss of Finale Recordings, no less) for a four-track trip into deep techno and intergalactic house. Dixon goes deep into the groove on the hissing, intoxicating deep techno roller "MTA", before delivering a touch more melody on the retro-futurist gem "Over The Top". Zucker, on the other hand, opts for a Jaydee-does-deep house feel to "Foundation (Part 1)", before setting off towards the heavens with the deliciously deep, smooth "Reflections".

Luke Hess - "Deliverer" (6:14)
Patrice Scott - "Future Funk" (7:25)
Basic Soul Unit - "Torn Satin" (6:53)
Michael Zucker - "YHWH" (6:15)
Review: Finale Sessions continues to fly the flag for the freshest variations on deep techno with a distinct Detroit flavour, and now the label is celebrating five years of operations with a split release that calls upon some label regulars to turn out the goods. Luke Hess is up first with the dynamic whipcrack dub techno pulse of "Deliverer", while Patrice Scott continues his fine run of form with the meditative "Future Funk". Basic Soul Unit meanwhile strikes the balance between experimentation and immersion with the sharp-angled yet soothing "Torn Satin", and then label boss Michael Zucker drops a punchy but poignant offering in the shape of "YHWH".

Jonno & Tommo - "Dirty Nylons" (6:32)
Michael Zucker - "Just Believe" (6:43)
Michael Zucker - "Narrow Is The Gate" (6:39)
Jonno & Tommo - "Shark City" (6:59)
Review: Michael Zucker continues to steer the good ship Finale Sessions with a steady hand on the deep house tiller, and this time he's enlisted Ornate regulars Jonno & Tommo as trusty deck hands. Their track "Dirty Nylons" opens the record up in a woozy haze of twinkling piano and dreamy chords slipping in and out of earshot. Zucker follows this up with the moody tones of "Just Believe", before leaping over to the B side to roll out the broken beats and heavy reverb of "Narrow Is The Gate". Jonno & Tommo then round the record off with the sensual rub down of "Shark City", pitting pattering percussion against snappy chords and a steamy vocal lick for saucier moments in the club.

Minimal House/Tech House
Michael Lovatt - "Tides" (5:11)
Kareen Ali - "Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez" (7:22)
Anaxander - "Unspoken" (7:14)
Michael Zucker - "Together" (7:13)
Review: Following a strong cast including Myles Serge, John Barera, DJ Skull and Hakim Murphy, Mentha continues its strong run of form with a various artists 12" that broadens the horizons of the high-grade deep house label. Michael Lovatt keeps things groovy and understated on "Tides", while Kareen Ali gets into a slow and trippy mood on "Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez". Anaxander's "Unspoken" brings some neo-soul synth lines to the table, and Michael Zucker turns out a brooding, introspective workout. Each track may have its own traits, but the whole record hangs together as a fine next step for a promising label.

Norm Talley - "Power" (5:06)
Norm Talley - "Lock Jaw" (5:48)
Michael Zucker - "Parisian Nights" (7:09)
Michael Zucker - "Thought Process" (6:40)
Review: Finale Sessions have created a new label entitled Future Sessions and will carry on with the same path of deepness and high tech soul as seen on the parent label which has presented the likes of Chez Damier, Fred.P, Patrice Scott, Kai Alce, Keith Worthy, Amir Alexander, Hakim Murphy and Santiago Salazar. This time around it's the legendary Norm Talley handed the reigns who gives us the deep and dubby soul jam of "Power" (killer bassline on this one) and the uplifting and emotive deepness of "Lockjaw". On the flip label boss Michael Zucker ups the tempo with the ethereal yet driving house excursion "Parisian Nights" with the most hypnotic layers of transcendental pads and the sublime depth of the rather gorgeous "Thought Process". Tip!

Keith Worthy - "Untitled"
Miruga - "Searching"
Jose Rico - "Alright Someday Will Come"
Michael Zucker - "2nd Coming"
Review: You know you're in for a deep ride when it comes to the Aesthetic Audio camp, and one look at the list of artists involved in tells you this latest release will be no different. Label boss Keith Worthy kicks things off with a jam that keeps the energy levels up without sacrificing the dreamy ethos of the label, while Miruga opts for a blissful broken dub techno excursion. Jose Rico kicks off the flip with the slow and punchy orchestrations of "Alright Someday Will Come", and then Michael Zucker cooks up a mean disco groove around which plentiful amounts of wistful melody can drift.

Review: Having served as a reliable source of heads down deep house, deep techno and other such electronic gems for a long time now, Michael Zucker finally steps up to Finale Sessions with his debut album, and it was worth the wait. He frames it as presenting his life story across eight tracks, leading in with the elegant, heads-down tech house roll of "40 Days" and the immersive ambience of downtempo jam "Choosing Sides." There are diversions into broken beat on "Tokyo Sunrise" and rawer drum sounds powering "Divine Power," but the vibe is consistent across the LP. Melodic, mellow machine soul positively pours out of this one.

His Spirit
Inner City Peace (part 1)
Introspective - "When The Rain Comes Down" (feat Jenifa Mayanja - Michael Zucker Finale mix)
Spiritual Graffiti
Review: Finale Sessions founder Michael Zucker steps into the limelight with his first full EP for the label in the five years it has been running. Zucker has of course featured on a handful of split releases from Finale but he doesn't waste any of the space afforded here with a quartet of superb and varied productions. Leading the way, techno track "His Spirit" bristles with life and percussive energy whilst "Inner City Peace" will likely raise some interested eyebrows in West London thanks to its killer broken beat programming. Face down, Zucker dips into his personal archives for an unreleased and rather crisp remix of Introspective and Jenifa Mayanja hookup "When The Rain Comes Down" whilst the wonderfully named "Spiritual Graffiti" ends the release on a high note.
