Review: Nullptr is in a fine vein of form right now. It's a project from Eddie Symons that again reaches new heights once more here with another delightful electro excursion on Central Processing Unit - his fourth for the Steel City label in just five years. Opener 'Recursor' takes you immediately to the stars with its punchy low ends and staccato arps lighting up the airwaves. 'Pulsar' glides less fluidly, instead bouncing about on broken drums with warped bass while 'Phase Function' is another slinky and serene one with synth magic really captivating the mind. And that's just the A-side - many more delights await on the flip, all of them equally well designed.

Review: The prolific Cambridge-based producer Eddie Symons is back under the Nullptr alias, with a new offering courtesy on Bristol's Distorted Sensory Perception. Symons distinct style of emotive electro is displayed wonderfully on the Lost Time EP: from the dystopian deepness of opening cut 'Adrift', to the ominous sci-fi funk of 'First Light' with its lurking bass roaring beneath 303 acid, and ending with the offworld slow burner that is the title track - where you imagine the planet Earth drifting off in the horizon aboard your spaceship to Mars.

Review: The faultless Central Processing Unit label welcomes back Eddie Symons aka Nullptr with this slick new EP. It comes only a year after his last double gatefold on the label and five after he made an immediate mark with his debut album in 2016. His sounds are still as fresh and futuristic as ever, with plenty of otherworld motifs making them so. 'Connected' kicks this one off with a bumping bassline and far-sighted pads while 'Mesospheric Cruise' sooth the soul as it journeys through the cosmos. There's more tension in the restless beats and bass of 'Syndicate' and 'Terminus' that make for a nice yin to the a-side's yang.

Review: As anyone who copped his 2016 debut album as Nullptr will attest, Eddie Symons' brand of electro is audibly more far-sighted and otherworldly than his peers. Given that electro is by its very nature a futurist artistic form, that's high praise indeed. Symons is naturally in fine form on the aptly titled "Future World", his first album for much-loved Sheffield imprint Central Processing Unit. Full of bustling beats, bold analogue melodies, shimmering chords, squelchy bass and undulating acid lines, the set offers a well-judged balance between angular, forthright club cuts - many of which are in a similar sonic vein to Drexciya - and deeper, more melodious moments that reminded us a little of Gerard Hanson's work as Convexion and Boris Bunnik's Versalife releases.

Review: Spain's Fanzine hits double figures by welcoming Nullptr (the alter ego of British artist Eddie Symons) for some heat that has made him a cult favourite over the last decade. The man behind Cambridge electro night Motherchip Connexion and his own [d]-tached label invites you to strap in and surge through the skies with him on a pulsating journey that finds him tease real funk out of his machines. From sombre and stripped back cuts of lonely electro to masterfully melodic affairs via devastatingly emotional groovers, this EP does it all in fantastic fashion.

Review: If the Spanish know how to keep one thing alive, it's community; in the spirit of this truth, Xuntaza, the name of Fanzine's latest EP series, is a Galician word that means 'the action of gathering of a group of people to discuss an issue or have fun'. Not overthought beyond the simple xuntanzing of its brightest artists, Vol. 1 in the series functions as a fantastic meeting point between dub techno, tech house, and experimental electro.

Reedale Rise - "Borderland" (6:37)
Nullptr - "AT Field" (4:32)
Datawave - "Mercury Dawn" (5:43)
Ivna Ji - "Alpha Dial" (4:58)
Review: Analog Concept launched last year with a release from Clocked Devices and Strange FM, and now they're back with a various artists 12" that widens out the scope of the label and establishes some sturdy connections. Reedale Rise is a wise link to make - the UK electro producer is on searing form at the moment with his melodious, expressive style. Nullptr, also to be spotted on scene-leaders CPU, is equally firing on all cylinders with the dystopian shakedown "AT Field". Datawave takes a crafty approach to machine funk with snaking arpeggios and needlepoint drum programming on "Mercury Dawn", and Ivna Ji brings a more vintage, emotive electronica flavour to "Alpha Dial".
