Sea Junkies (7:20)
Hassen (dub) (9:03)
Kyoto's Forest (8:48)
Windchill (4:59)
Review: Over the course of their six-year career, French twosome Nummer have slowly morphed from fresh-faced angular techno enthusiasts, to makers of admired electronic music rooted in a widescreen and nuanced musical vision. Their growing maturity is much in evidence on "Night Confidence", an EP that effortlessly flits between deep, dreamy and delay-laden lo-fi deep house bliss ("Sea Junkies"), sleazy, acid-fired, alien-sounding late night house weirdness ("Hassen (Dub)"), extra-percussive fusions of Burrell Brothers style deep house and new age beauty ("Kyoto's Forest"), and the wonderful analogue/organic fusion that is rolling, outer-space house jam "Windchill". An inspired EP from a duo whose music is sounding fresher than ever.

303 Of Life (9:31)
Review: Ex-London based French duo Nummer have apparently upped sticks for a life in electronic music mecca Berlin. They are coming at you with the seventh edition on their eponymous imprint here. Emmanuel Corre and Silvere Letellier get funky feeling on the A side with the soulful Motor City inspired groove deepness of "Daybreaker", while on the flip "303 Life" takes things into trippier afterhours territory with its slow-motion acid flashback. Similar to their awesome work as Detroit Syndrome but less on the electro tip and more of an emphasis on classic techno.

Life Is A Hideout (8:29)
The Magic City (6:35)
Quiet Nights (5:30)
Review: Since parting company with Going Good a few years back, Nummer has successfully been self-releasing their own forthright machine music. The London-based French duo continues to impress on this first three-track salvo of 2018. Arguably the strongest cut here is A-side "Life Is A Hideout", a muddy and bass-heavy concoction built around bustling breakbeats, foreboding bass, creepy electronics and slowly blossoming synthesizer chords. The track's rhythmic looseness is matched by the dense, dystopian sound soup of "The Magic City" - an impeccably creepy affair that reminded us of mid-'80s Test Department - while "Quiet Nights" sees them successfully play around with pots-and-pans percussion, delay-laden trumpet samples and a mutant acid bassline.

Out Of Darkness (5:58)
Primal Fire (6:19)
Ajaja Rhythmus (10:30)
Meditation In Baltimore (5:17)
Review: French duo in London Nummer are back on their eponymous imprint with some esoteric and tripped out jams that take you deep into the exotic. On the A side we have "Out Of The Darkness" a slow burning exercise in hypnotism with shamanic qualities, and the heady tribal trance of "Primal Fire": if the subtle acid flashes won't grab you, the polyrhythms certainly will. On the flip, the neon lit balearica of "Ajaja Rhythmus" over its glorious 11 minute duration had us rather impressed. As did "Meditation In Baltimore" which is the EP's finest moment. This evocative and bittersweet jam features some rolling tribal rhythms beneath some celestial synths and soothing pads, which are altogether quite brilliant indeed.

Street War Success (8:05)
The Golden Age (5:45)
Downtown Breukelen (4:40)
Review: After impressing with a couple of unrelenting EPs of raw analogue house and techno on Going Good and Peur Bleue, French duo Nummer decided to launch their own label earlier this year. Here, they follow-up their debut release for that eponymous imprint, To The D, with a second dose of clattering dancefloor fare. Opener "Street War Success" is unflinchingly punishing, with industrial textures and wild electronics riding a muddy but bombastic, bass-heavy groove. They try their hand at dancefloor-focused IDM on the tuneful and enveloping "The Golden Age", before "Downtown Breukelen" draws proceedings to a close via ghostly pads, Drexciyan textures and bubbling downtempo beats.

Earth Shift (6:58)
To 4th Dimension (1:18)
Cosmic Love (7:03)
Circulation (6:19)
Review: Having spent the last 12 months ploughing their own furrow via a number of self-released EPs, techno misfits Nummer pop up on France's Fragil Musique imprint. Arguably, Life Shift III is a little less robust, ragged and intense than previous EPs, with the London-based duo wrapping their typically bombastic beats and long-slung grooves in all manner of attractive chords, pads and hazy synthesizer motifs. That's particularly evident on the dreamy, '90s ambient house revivalism of "To 4th Dimension", but can also be heard on the floor-friendly thump of deep techno outing "Earth Shift". Flip for the bouncy, out-there throb of "Cosmic Love", and the sweaty beats, swirling chords and heart-aching electronics of "Circulation".

Deep House
Scion
Marvin
Closed Time Loop
Moon To Jupiter
Review: London duo Nummer's 12" debut Beyond Time Interpretations offered a decidedly astronomical approach to techno. Here, they transfer this approach to deep house, delivering a quartet of pleasingly cosmic cuts that attractively flutter with melodious elements and distinct hints of Detroit style tech-jazz. "Scion" opens proceedings, sounding like a more jazz-inclined take on Space Dimension Controller. The ambient "Marvin" is pleasingly deep and woozy, while "Closed Time Loop" hisses and fizzes with Motor City soul. "Moon To Jupiter", meanwhile, has the melodic twinkle and dreamy sensibility of some of Telephones' recent output, albeit with the added allure of analogue deep house grooves.

Nummer - "Nummer's Tribute" (7:33)
Simo Cell - "Simo Cell's Tribute" (5:13)
Jafar - "Jafar's Tribute" (6:05)
Bazarov - "Bazarov's Tribute" (5:38)
Review: Raphael Fragil's Fragil Musique has never ceased to stop exploring and innovating through electronic sounds. Since 2011, the imprint has showcased an impressive array of previously unheard talents and, in the process, has given us access to names such as Jafar, Cedric Borghi and Kenny Lane. More recently, the likes of Nummer and Simo Cell have played their part in the label's development, and this latest collaborative EP has come at exactly the right moment to lock these past six years down to a varied and polished release. Nummer, who had first come to light through Going Good, lays down some slick, slow lounge house on his "Nummer's Tribute", followed by the equally wavy and Balearic-leaning "Simo Cell's Tribute". "Jafar's Tribute" is a different kind of affair; the house beats are out in full motion, charged by a glorious minimal-dub energy, which leaves "Bazarov's Tribute" to deliver the funk via some masterfully executed boogie vibes. A splendid EP - TIP!
