Deep Dubstep
Kromestar - "Dancehall" (4:41)
P JAM & DOK - "Funky Nandos" (4:13)
Review: From cor blimey to core nuclear reactor; Mean Streets continue their Trilogy collection with a second volume of gully comprising two more vibes from the left side. Donnie Kromestar starts the skirmish with his devastating heavyweight bash-about 'Dancehall' while P Jam & Dok flip the experience in the B with 'Funky Nandos'. A springy slice of broken beat with jazzy shimmers and cheery organs, it takes you back to Plastic People even if you didn't get to go there back in the day. Street talk.

Track 2
Review: Speak to Bok Bok about Night Slugs and it's clear grime has played a huge influence on what they do so it makes total sense that the label should coax some music out of grime originator for their White Label series. Known for Known for seminal beats such as "Anger Management" and "Real", P Jam's return from a four year production hiatus looks to spread further than this 12" with contributions to the forthcoming Grime 2.0 compilation and Terror Danjah's Hardrive label primer too. The A Side has P Jam dropping a 130bpm jungle cover of a famous Frankie Knuckles track which you'll immediately recognise when those strings hit - and how good does it sound to hear Amens on a Night Slugs release? Face down P Jam offers a skeletal dub take on the same track which is all about the jagged squarewave bass line.

Nando's Riddim (2:48)
Nando's Riddim (instrumental) (4:39)
Kumasi (3:45)
Review: Big bites as P Jam unite with Capo Lee for a beat hotter than Peri-Peri Vusa. Jam lays down a bouncy riddim full of character and cheeky trippy flurries while Capo gets down to business with a tale of a hectic schedule. Flip for an even spicier dish as the instrumental neck-snapper "Kumasi". Robotic, squelchy, bashy. It's the perfect side for the main banquet. Black card business.

Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime
Trends & P Jam - "Truth Or Die" (3:45)
Silas - "Mirage" (3:45)
Review: Savage instrumental grime, cooked up in the gully way we've come to expect from Mean Streets. "Truth Or Die" raises the party game stakes for those who want to put their 2020 where their mouth is. Neck snap breaks and grunting bass, it's Trends and P Jam doing what they do best. Silas provides the tonic; "Mirage" is a swaggering slab of dubstep / 140 gold. Fans of that classic spacious Medi-style stuff from the late 2000s will be all over this. Looking forward to the second volume.
