Exit Planet Earth: Nitrogen
Exit Planet Earth: Nitrogen (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: EPE 03. Rel: 23 Nov 20
Electro
  1. Radioactive Man - "One Out" (6:09)
  2. Annie Hall - "Invisible Dust" (5:10)
  3. Sansibar - "Tamagotchi" (7:28)
  4. VC-118A - "Moss" (5:55)
Review: 20/20 Vision continue to celebrate their renewed electro vigour with the third part in the Exit Planet Earth series, once again calling on a crack team of machine funkers to deliver the robo-goods. Radioactive Man is up first with 'One Out', which finds the original Lone Swordsman on impeccable form teasing and testing his rubbery synth flex around a needlepoint groove. Annie Hall follows up in fine style with the dreamy lilt of 'Invisible Dust', while Sansibar locks into something a little dirtier on the dungeon boogie of 'Tamagotchi'. VC-118A's 'Moss' completes the set in a spellbinding fashion, dropping the tempo for something a little more exploratory with plenty of mystical atmospheres and tweaked FX fills marking out an evocative soundscape.

Review: On his previous EPs and singles for the likes of Natural Sciences and Emotsiya, Vaseline Sunny Seppa AKA Sansibar has proved adept at delivering otherworldly, off-kilter electro that pairs icy melodies with warm chords, angular acid lines and beats that pop and crackle with giddy dancefloor intensity. "Targeted Individuals", his debut album, expands on this, in part by wrapping his futurist visions in emotive chord sequences, melancholic motifs and occasional bouts of paranoid intensity. It's a blueprint that guarantees far-sighted and ear-catching thrills, with the album's brazen club cuts - see the foreboding hustle of "My Mind" and deliciously Kraftwerkian "Body Rock" - being outnumbered by deeper, more contemplative compositions. Impressive.

White Swan
White Swan (12")
Cat: NATURAL 026. Rel: 27 Mar 19
Experimental/Electronic
  1. White Swan (5:39)
  2. Mandate My Ass (5:53)
  3. Nolla (6:12)
  4. Wallah (SANS DJ mix) (6:03)
Review: Sometime FTP contributor Sansibar is the latest experimentalist to make his bow on Natural Sciences, a label that we reckon is amongst the most vital and interesting around right now. The Finland-based producer starts in confident fashion on "White Swan", a pleasingly spacey chunk of electro/new wave fusion full of punchy beats, glacial electronics and industrial/EBM style male spoken vocals. The producer's EBM influences come further to the fore on the bubbly and mind-altering "Mandate My Ass", while "Nolla" sounds like an apocalyptic collaboration between Kraftwerk and Nitzer Ebb (with added Yorkshire bleeps). Arguably best of all, though, is the acid-flecked drug chug that is closing cut "Wallah (SANS DJ mix)".
