Be With You (7:03)
Review: Paradox Music man Alaska founded the "100% ambient jungle" label Arctic Music in 2006, joining forces with Swedish producer Seba for the imprint's second release. 11 years on the duo have reunited for another trip into deep and spacey D&B territory. On the A-side you'll find "Sandpoint", an intergalactic roller that wraps echoing vocal snippets and fluid electronics around a fuzzy bassline and punchy jungle riddims. The beanbag and incense-friendly party continues on the flip, where "Be With You" sees them reach sparkling, starburst synthesizer motifs, even dreamier vocal snippets, a whisper of jazz sax and some typically bustling breakbeats. It feels like a genuine blast from the past, and that's a good thing; certainly, few make music this magical any more.

Chippie - "Big Grey Wolf" (7:27)
Blame & Seba - "Liquid Electricity" (6:07)
Review: Violet Night Recordings continue to bring life to old DATs and tracks that may never have seen the light of day. This time the bossman Chippie steps up with 'Big Grey Wolf', a breezy, cosmic take on the deeper sound. Very late 90s/early 2000s in its early in-the-box digital sounds but still carrying plenty of weight, it's one for the dreamers. Meanwhile on the B we have two legends Blame and Seba with 'Liquid Electricity'. Springy, jazzy and written at some point in the early 2000s, it captures both artist's nose for groove, sense of space and cosmic character. What a piece of history.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***

Mako's Utopia label continues to be an essential outpost for anyone hungry for the latest steps forward in drum & bass, and here the man himself links up with the mighty Seba for two razor sharp excursions into moody, precision-engineered club gear that wears its experience out front. 'Brotherhood' is an absolute massive tune, holding down the pressure for an extended run time and getting crafty with the edits without ever over-cooking the recipe. On the flip, 'Stockholm Syndrome' takes a more atmospheric approach led by overcast synths and driven by a crisp-as-you-like beat - all the better to let the leads do the talking.

Pieces (feat Robert Manos) (6:29)
Captain Freak (feat Robert Manos) (7:24)
External Reality (album version) (6:26)
Inside Your Mind (7:24)
Review: Swedish drum & bass don Seba is one of the best in the game and few would argue. For his next trick he digs into his archive and reissues a series of tunes on the Secret Operations Reissue Vol1 series. All of the four cuts have been newly remastered for the occasion and the first two feature the vocals of Robert Manos. 'Pieces' is first and pairs his lush tones with prickly drum rotations full of texture. 'Captain Freak' is more raw and hard hitting and then comes the album version of the more extra terrestrial and cosmic drum & bass of 'External Reality' while 'Inside Your Mind' shuts down with a dark and menacing bassline.

Review: Since launching way back in 2014, Soul:R's FourFit series has showcased soulful D&B workouts from artists including Skeptical, Calibre, LSB, Mako, the late, great Marcus Intalex and Seba. Here, the latter's contribution to the series - volume seven - is given the reissue treatment, complete with fully remastered tracks. The 2016 EP remains one of the Swedish producer's strongest four-trackers. Check first the punchy, hot-stepping beats and waves of attractive synthesiser melodies that is 'Hide The Tears', before getting your ears around the rumbling sub-bass, sweaty d&b beats and trippy effects of 'Dark Horse'. DRS and Trickiykid lend a hand on the atmospheric 'Fade To Red', while 'Desire' sees Seba add dreamy textures, effects-laden vocals and spacey synth-pop sounds to another stepping d&b beat.

Legion (6:19)
Review: Swedish d&b pioneer Seba continues to roll out more reissues from his Secret Operations label vaults, taking back over 15 years to some of his most career-defining work. The swaggering opener 'Your Deepest Love', the ice cold finale piece 'Legion' and the breath-taking 'Forever' all take us back to the mid-2000s (2006/7 to be precise) when Seba and his label really started to make their own independent mark in drum & bass. For good measure and balance he's also including 'Inkasso'. A little more recent in his discography at only eight years old, but just as hard hitting and timeless - Seba always hits the spot whatever era you find him at.

Review: Seba's Secret Operations label is continuing its productive run into the archives with this fourth volume of reissue gold. Seba's sound is the kind which transcends the ages, sporting a luxurious, high-end production finish which means tracks like 'Special Ops' hasn't aged a jot in 15 years. 'Day By Night' on the B2 deserves a special mention - this is the Swedish mastermind at his fiercest, toying with stop-start dynamics, folding in industrial strength tones and textures and building the junglism so vivid it nearly bursts out of the speakers and manifests as a 3D object right before your eyes.

Review: The Secret Operations label is no longer operating in the shadows as it hits release number 35. Up to now it has continually served up superb drum & bass from a range of artists that has turned plenty of heads. This one comes from the legendary Seba and it kicks off with 'Are We Dreaming', a busy tune packed with flurries of breakbeats and plenty of cosmic chord work. On the flipside, 'Interstellar' has a funkier broken beat pattern but retains is astral sense of melody.

Review: Swedish D&B titan Seba has been kicking oath jams ever since the 90s. He shows no signs of slowing, or of dropping his quality levels, and in fact is having a massive 2022. Here he comes back with another crucial four-tracker which once more effortlessly pairs off the right amount of dark and light, beauty and danger. All four of these feature guest artists and the opener 'Balthazar' (feat Jr Vallo) is a dark stepper with menacing bass. 'The Future' (feat Olski) is mysterious and widescreen with lush synths eventually making way for busy, tight, kinetic rotations. Then comes 'Couchsurfing' (feat Olski) and 'Love Story' (feat Digital), both of which are bangers.

Review: Swedish D&B maestro Seba has been at this now since the 90s, but his quality levels never dip. In fact, he has been a man on a very busy mission of late, dropping plenty of new/old heat in 2022. One of his regular home label Fokuz Recordings outta Holland has got some more goodness here with silky vocal roller 'Shades Of Me & You' open up on a vibe. 'Never Let You Go' (Blu Mar Ten remix) is another deep one with lovely melancholic chords and that leaves 'Nicholo' to lift the spirits with more crashing drums and perc, and then super sweet and soft focus closer 'Sienna' to soothe the soul once more.

Review: Rolling since the mid 90s and showing no signs of slowing, Swedish D&B maestro Seba bounces straight from his Ingaro LP on Secret Operations to deliver this retrospective of highly sought after classics on Fokuz. Seba originally released 'Dangerous Days' in 2009 backed by his remix of Polar's 'Hi Voltage', and both cuts of dreamy drum funk make a welcome return here, with the title track in particular being an immersive slice of ambient D&B to write home about. 'Metropolaris' and 'A Wonderful World' both came out a little further back in 2003, but they equally complement the other tracks with their soft-shaped synth tones and crisp, intricate beats.

Review: Dutch label Fokuz are doing a stellar job of digging into the archives of Swedish D&B titan Seba and pulling out some much-needed reissues. Given the price some of his finest cuts fetch second hand, these couldn't arrive a moment too soon, even if Vanity / Nostalgia is just over 10 years old. That classic 12" of melancholic synth magic gets popped onto the A side, while 2010's Never Let You Go / This Is Our House resides on the flip with its own bout of heavy-hearted vocals and next level sound design. 'This Is Our House' is an especially head-turning track with its Mr Fingers-nodding synth lead strapped to a razor sharp rhythm.

True (feat Emily Harkness) (5:33)
Review: Senor Secret Ops Seba touches down on Bcee's Spearhead with his biggest release for the label since 2018's 'Close To You' EP. Drawing from the most tender corners of his palette, once again he spins an emotional yarn as 'Breathe Deep' starts the party with the goosebump inducing vocal charms of Emily Harkness. As we get deep into the EP, the tunes get darker; 'So Beautiful' begins as bright light but gets shadier and more hypnotic as the groove builds while 'Feel It' (with Bcee himself) takes us much deeper into the land of murkery as gritty bass and dubby reflections take the lead before flipping into a great soulful breakdown. 'True' adds a final sprinkle of dreamy sugar. Breathe it in.

Rubiks Cube (8:23)
Review: More heat from Okbron here with a previously unreleased tune by Seba from the early 2000 pressed to wax in limited quantities with no repress. 'Lithium' is a deep one with smooth drum grooves overlaid by watery droplets and nice bubbling melodies. It's a soulful cut for those dreamy dancing sessions that has real colour and character. 'Rubiks Cube' then gets more textured. The pixelated chords cut through crashing beats, with warmer bass underlapping. These are two fresh tunes that look to the future despite being more than 20 years old.

Review: With a collaborative history dating back to 2005, few producer/vocalist combos in drum and bass hit the spot as consistently as Seba and Robert Manos. Both enhancing what each other bring to the track, Seba never compromises on the emotional range and weight of his production yet always leaves more than enough space for the vocal house legend. 'Reflect' is a perfect example as Manos weaves between the fluctuating bassline and sudden breakbeat flurries creating a perfect balance of pure space and total soul. Delivered on red vinyl and complete with an instrumental, this Secret Operation won't be secret for too long.

Why Can't This End (5:58)
Review: Now into his third decade as a full-time drum and bass producer, Seba continues to serve up high quality EPs at a furious rate. "Close To You" is the Swede's fifth 12" of 2018, yet it's every bit as alluring and essential as any of its predecessors. We're particularly enjoying the colourful, soulful flutter of the rhythmically punchy title track, though opener "She Looks Real" - a more foreboding, warehouse-friendly workout - and "Time Will Tell" are almost as good. Arguably best of all, though, is "Why Can't This End", where a poignant, heartfelt vocal from what sounds like house legend Robert Owens majestically rises above deep, spacey melodies and rolling drum and bass rhythms.

Review: Since cracking open 2016 with his Soul:r "Fourfit" EP, Seba has slayed the year to pieces with a consistent slew of precision drum art. As if the freshness isn't quite enough, here we find longstanding ally Paradox serving two Seba vintages from 2004 on limited smoky wax. "Steel" is all about the restrained reese and switchy beats running from naked two-step across the range of breaks and a surging but soft focused vocal. "Piemo For B" nods at the formative Goodlooking sound with its jazzy flourishes while retaining all the darkness Seba's always be known for. 12 years old and still sounding future.

Desire (6:07)
Review: Just when you thought Soul:R's Fourfit collection couldn't get any better... Along comes Seba with four delicious pieces of emotion-rich but heavily weighted drum & bass soul. "Hide The Tears" is a real star-gazer with evocative, almost trance-like chord changes, "Dark Horse" has a techno-like attitude with its eerie topline that flickers and weaves amid the ever-mutating drums, "Fade To Red" switches the drum arrangement to create space for DRS and Trickykid who bounce bars over a paranoid, tripletty halftime groove. "Desire" closes the show with filtered stabs that are slightly reminiscent of Basement Jaxx's "Fly Life". Balanced by oceanic chords and velvet Owens-level vocals, Seba's range and depth is clear for all to witness. Again.

Cloudless (6:20)
Review: Swedish sound controller Seba has dented 2015 with continuous and consistent releases, re-issues and remixes. This could quite easily be his best yet, though; "Jungle Music" is an ode to the era he first made his name. Dark, twisted and dangerous; there are many jungle tributes around right now but this is definitely one of the most authentic. "Cloudless" flips the switch with rolling soul style. Comprising warm humming subs, floaty trumpets and star-gazing synths, it plays the consummate counter to the devilish lead banger. Classic Seba.

Both sides as strong as each other; "Shades Of Me & You" is a breathy summer breeze where a twinkling arpeggio gazes upwards over lush warm filtered chords. Blu Mar Ten's remix of "Never Let You Go", meanwhile, is a slightly moodier perception of soul as the minor chords are felt in the plump subs and endlessly rolling beats in a way so silky and shiny they'd make Bukem blush. Timeless.

Review: After a period of some three years, Swedish Drum & Bass exponent Seba graces BCEE's Spearhead Recordings with some new dancefloor ice. Sebastian Ahrenberg has of course been busy in this interim period, issuing his second album Identity and overseeing the rise of his own Secret Operations label. "Cold Spring" sees Ahrenberg once again collaborating with Robert Manos, whose hushed vocal delivery complements the brisk and jazzy atmospheric arrangement from Seba, but for us the real gem is wedged on the B Side and shows a different side to the Swede's production style. It's not clear who provides the vocal here, but she perfectly fits the rugged drums and superbly sequenced subby bass line. Big moves from Seba and Spearhead!

Review: Part two of two; Seba continues to stretch his production might with impressive results. "Life Is" is Seba at his deepest and most contemplative. With insistent pads, whimsical synth flurries, obese subs and a rhythm dynamic that builds subtly, it lives up to the EP's title in every way. "Science Fiction" is much harder hitting thanks to brash cymbal splashes, harrowed hollow bass and a foreboding top textures. Think Metalheadz and you get the picture. Review: The first of a very special two-part release from Swedish badman Seba, here his love for sci-fi and futuristic production is showcased in full effect. "Mesmerism" is a powerful slice of dark half-tempo drama. All moaning hoovers, stark synth hits and chubby percussion, it will stop the entire club in its tracks. "Physickl" is a more upbeat affair. Boasting synth sounds that aren't far off your classic Orbtial motifs, it taps into the richest veins of rave heritage. Quintessential Seba.

Review: As if his barnstorming album Identity wasn't quite enough, here comes another new music mission from Swedish D&B maestro. Bright, breezy and emotional, "Shades Of Me & You" leans back on thick weaves of synths while a breathy vocal ties all the elements - heated subs, skippy breaks and atmospheric pads - together. For added depth and uncontrollable spine-tingles head for Blu Mar Ten's remix. Both are very reminiscent of Hospital Records' work circa early-mid 2000s. Get shady.

Review: Part one from his sophomore album Identity marks the return of the Swedish techmiester Seba and hints at the range of exciting material he's got loaded for us. The title track is all spiky and early electro with just a smidgen of LFO acidity and a spoken word vocal that sounds a bit like Will Self. "Nothing Can Replace" finds itself at the other end of the spectrum; all euphoric, dreamy and synth-washed it's not dissimilar with the work Bungle did with Riya a year or two ago. What a contrast. What a comeback!

"Can't Describe" is a slippery, soulful affair that sits somewhere between the remits of Soul:R and Critical. "Balance Of Powers", meanwhile, flips the switch with some of the most punishing drums Seba's programmed in years. Think Renegade Hardware, think Seba's mate Klute; with occasional trumpet blasts and a warping bassline, it's Seba at his most heavyweight... And we love it.

Whats Your Fantasy
Review: The final part of Seba's album vinyl triptych, it's yet another display of the Scandinavian veteran's versatility. "Madness" takes a series of Plastikman-style spiralling acid lines and twists them into a web of audio insanity. Just like the previous samplers, "What's Your Fantasy" couldn't be further from the late night angst of the A-side; jazzy, sexy and positively Balearic in its charms, you'd barely notice its subtle 170 tempo.

Sharkskin
Review: Nightrider marks a long overdue return to Nu Directions endeavours for Swedish producer Seba! The Secret Operations boss first graced Tricksta's long running imprint back in 2003, but it's not like he's been slouching in the subsequent period so we can forgive the belated return to Nu Directions. The title track has long been a secret weapon in Seba's armoury, effortlessly gliding forward on a slick sheen of contemporary liquid funk aided by some shexy vocals dipped in just the right amount of delay. Those seeking something with a bit more edge to it should head straight for "Sharkskin" on the flip where Seba goes deep into the darkside.
