Dormant (5:49)
Review: Sheffield's Central Processing Unit has become a key home for Silcion Scally, the most prolific of all the aliases of Carl Finlow. This is his third outing on the label and another high class affair that ploughs fresh electro ground. Opener 'V Electro' has a dark bassline and super crisp drums. There is a much more unhinged mood to 'Bode,' a jam with ADHD and multiple personalities. 'Proximity Sensor' is the sound of the computers taking over, with squelchy bass and jittery grooves, while 'Dormant' closes with a dystopian atmosphere and layer upon layer of intergalactic energy all vying for attention.

Cobalt Blue (6:01)
Scintillation (6:03)
Asynchronous (6:04)
Protocol 2 (5:10)
Review: British legend Carl Finlow has always explored the darker, deeply charged realms of electro as Silicon Scally and he's feeling more dystopian than ever on this fierce four tracker for Sheffield's Central Processing Unit. Following up last years' terrific Projections EP, prepare to go deep underground on the brooding and cinematic drama of "Cobalt Blue", only to resurface once more on a serene note on the charming Kraftwerk influence of "Scintillation". On the flip, he's back to the program on the booming electro bass epic "Asynchronous" while the futuristic tension and suspense of "Protocol 2" closes out another fine effort by the genre's finest producers.

Silicon Scally - "Deodexed"
Boris Divider - "Primary Functions"
Sync 24 & Deixis - "Haunted World"
Morphology - "Dark Star"
Review: Cultivated Electronics brings us a fine selection of some of the most talented electro masters around. First up, Silicon Sally introduces their liquid-like synth growls on "Deodexed", a track that's liable to hurt both the mind and the soul, while Boris Divider is on "Primary Functions", a wonderfully stripped-back affair. The flip sees Sync24 and Deixis in "Haunted World", a frightening expose of sparse bleeps and mutant FX. It's up to Morphology to close things off with "Dark Star", whose alignment of spacey chords and chilling basslines is almost too much to bear...

Electro
Jack Out (6:44)
Sine Vibes (6:01)
Clickjacking (vox edit) (5:36)
Clickjacking (dub edit) (6:18)
Review: Philip Bolland aka Sync 24 and Carl Finlow aka Silicon Scally are two mainstays of the UK electro scene, and together they've set the bar high for both contemporary bass producers and newcomers. They're up on the legendary Cultivated Electronics with four devious slices of neuronal funk, starting with the underwater mysticism of "Jack Out", which is swiftly followed by the molecular sonics of the dystopian "Sine Vibes". On the B-side, there's two cuts to "Clickjacking", the first being a cold, metallic electro swinger tagged as the 'vox edit', and the second a much warmer, more uplifting 'dub edit'. Pure electro nastiness.
