Review: "Smoke" is a soul vocal group from Kansas City though soul music was not so popular at that time. The band had Larry Brown who was also a member of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes & Melvin Manning who is the younger brother of Marva Whitney.This album was originally released 1976 and P-VINE released this album 24 years ago as LP and that edition has had it's second hand value rise dramatically in the last few years. Presented again and reissued for sweet soul lovers all over the world as a limited edition LP with OBI strip.The outstanding slow ballad "I'm So Lonely" proves this LP is not only rare, but also has perfect quality!

Review: Out of Neil 'Nail' Tolliday's many aliases and spheres of exploration, Smoke has to be one of the best. Taking the dub techno principles wherever he chooses, Tolliday basks in lush delay feedback and cools down with ample reverb tails when his Smoke hat is on. So it goes on this excellent new 12" for Utopia Club Tracks, which leads in with the soporific swell of 'GimAnsDub' before heading out of the fog to the placid island murmurations of 'Invorch2-1'. 'Tell Me' lets things ping out plentifully around a dusty, dreamy house beat, and then 'Chamaaf' rounds things out with a shimmering dub chord flex you can almost sink your teeth into.

Review: Nail is back on 89:Ghost with more of his sublime trippers delights as Smoke. This is the UK tech house don at his deepest, eking out a perfectly fluid strain of dub-inflected grooves to take you further in and farther out. Lead track 'DBSDUB2' is awash with gorgeous chords and strung out soul licks, all underpinned by a simply perfect groove. 'BAQDUB' uses a more broken thread of percussion to accentuate the rhythm, while 'HOTARU' keeps things more tightly clipped without losing that shimmering veneer. 'BAUCH3' is the more ambient of the cuts on this 12", taking the aesthetics of the other three and jettisoning off into pure dubbed out bliss.
