Emotional Dissolution (7:24)
Over Identified (7:27)
Space Of Being (7:21)
Undue Identification (7:23)
Review: Steve Bicknell does not muck about on this one. The 25 year techno veteran is a UK mainstay but somehow often rather slips under the radar. Sure, he had a few years away from 2005 to 2013, but he has rarely made a misstep since for fans of hard, dense techno. After EPs on Ostgut Ton and highly touted collabs with Function and Luke Slater as LSD, he's back on his own 6dimensions with an EP that you may have already heard DJ Nobu and Jeff Mills playing in recent sets. Three of the cuts pack a visceral punch, with hammering drums and walls of sheet metal synths and frazzled percussion applying huge amounts of dance floor pressure. Our pick of the bunch: hypnotic and stripped back closer "Undue Identification".

Fearing The Mind's Fears (4:39)
Conscious Awakening (4:47)
Review: Given that legendary London DJ Steve Bicknell was one of the earliest champions of "proper techno" in the UK, it's been heartening to see his recent renaissance. Renewed interest in his 1990 productions has allowed him to issue a string of previously unheard gems from the vaults. Awakening The Past takes this approach, too, serving up a trio of previously unreleased gems from 1998 - the wonderfully trippy, late night techno loop jam "Physical Life", ragged acid workout "Natural Vibrations" and even more psychedelic "Fearing The Mind's Fears" - and a cut recorded earlier this year in Berlin. Interestingly, the latter - an intense, bleeping, modular-sounding slammer entitled "Conscious Awakening" - sounds like it could have been recovered from the same dusty DAT as the other tracks, despite being 100% new.

Review: After a nine-year hiatus, Sheree Rashit and Steve Bicknell relaunch Cosmic Records with the Transcendence EP within their Lost Recordings division. Founded in 1993, the label ran in conjunction with the pair's infamous Lost events, which introduced acts such as Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Basic Channel to the UK dancefloor. Past Cosmic releases include productions and remixes from US artists such as Juan Atkins, Tyree Cooper, DJs Funk and Rush alongside prominent UK names working under pseudonyms devised for Cosmic. Having previously released via Perfecto and Mute, Cosmic has provided a home for Steve Bicknell's releases since its' inception. His next phase continues the Lost Recordings series that began in 1996 with the 8th segment, Transcendence. Comprised of four untitled tracks in Steve Bicknell's inimitable style - a depiction of the Lost dancefloor - Transcendence, LR 8 is hypnotic with depth and soul, transcending boundaries, and is initially available on vinyl only. Played by: Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Oliver Ho, Francois K, Ben Klock, Surgeon.

Track 1 (Planetary Assault Systems remix)
Track 2 (Steve Bicknell remix)
Track 3 (Dave Angel remix)
Track 4 (Lords Of Afford remix)
Review: Responsible for one of the longest running and most respected underground techno nights in the UK, Steve Bicknell first produced the much sought after EP "Flame In Darkness" in 1993. Highly respected by techno aficionados and perceived to be ahead of the game, Steve received requests by a number of techno luminaries to remix the original. The result, first released in 1994, was "The Remix EP" featuring definitions of the classic by Luke Slater, under his Planetary Assault System moniker, Dave Angel and Andrew Wetherall in his Lords of Afford guise. Now it is back by popular demand, being sought out by a whole new generation of music heads. A history lesson in the making that defies the limitations of time, as refreshing now as it was pioneering in its conception back in the day.

Damon Wild - "Constant Search"
Ben Sims - "Vicious Cycle"
Steve Bicknell - "Chapter Of Self"
Tadeo - "X Marks The Spot"
Review: The brilliant Chronicle has been quiet for a minute, but comes back in fine form with this keenly curated various artists 12" that re-affirms the label's vision of cerebral, deep and driving techno. Damon Wild shows his tender side on the gorgeous, immersive "Constant Search", while Ben Sims brings a tougher palette to bear on peak time percussive belter "Vicious Cycle". Steve Bicknell summons a fearsome, metallic dervish on the monolithic "Chapter Of Self", and Tadeo takes things bleepy, loopy and uplifting on "X Marks The Spot". It's a 12" of stunning modern techno from start to finish.

Post Scriptum - "Human Timescales" (7:31)
LB Dub Corp - "So Much" (6:28)
Blue Hour - "Parallels" (6:17)
Review: It's always a good day for techno when new Steve 'master of the loop' Bicknell material arises, just like it's done here on the first sampler for Function's Berghain 07 mix. "Odyssey #1" is a distorted gyration through fizzy atmospheres and chocked bleeps, while Post Scriptum's rolling "Human Timescales" is a cross between the Hauntologists sound and the beats heard on Tobias' Leaning Over Backwards album, also released on Ostgut Ton. There's some transatlantic vibes on LB Dub Corp's "So Much", while the emerging Blue Hour sees his zapping drum track keep the sustain on his synth locked for the entirety of the B2.

Cassegrain & Tin Man - "Oxide" (6:04)
Inland - "Sca Fell" (6:20)
DVS1 - "Electric" (7:26)
Steve Bicknell - "Odyssey #2" (4:12)
Review: It seems Function is a fan of Cassegrain & Tin man material as he's just signed them up for his next release on Infrastructure New York. For this second Berghain 07 sampler, Function's appetite for boomy, acid techno is whetted by the collaboration's "Oxide". Meanwhile, former flatmate Ed Davenport, aka Inland, delivers "Sca Fell", a subaqueous workout that would get the Mike Parker seal of approval. DVS1 throws down some trademark warehouse beats with some caustic stabs to boot, while Steve Bicknell delves even deeper into the abyss than he did on the first sampler, with a track that's as menacing and frenetic as what Drexciya can be.

Steve Bicknell - "Space 13" (4:17)
Dustin Zahn - "Politics Of Seduction" (5:50)
Adriana Lopez - "Last Path" (5:44)
Review: Predictably, DVS1 has grabbed tracks from some serious techno talents for this third volume in Mistress's Special Release series. As a result, the vibe is loopy, pumping and energy-packed throughout, with standouts coming from Adriana Lopez (whose "Last Path" sounds like Surgeon making creepy EBM) and UK veteran Steve Bicknell, who brilliantly ladens a stomping beat with creepy electronics and all manner of psychedelic bleeps ("Space 13"). Elsewhere, Mike Storm brilliantly builds dancefloor intensity via relentless drum machine handclaps on "From The Human Eye To Earth", while Dustin Zahn delivers a decidedly distorted fusion of lo-fi techno and spacey Detroit futurism.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

Spanish techno veteran Christian Wunsch has decided to celebrate the 50th release on his esteemed Tsunami Records by bringing together some techno luminaries on a single release entitled 'The Future is Fixed'. From British legends such as Surgeon, who harks back to his House Of God residency on the sound of "Invisible Enemy", Blueprint's James Ruskin is in fine form on the hypnotic stomp of "The Lake", and Steve Bicknell (Lost) on the strobe-lit tunnel vision of "Deeper Shades Of Grey". Elsewhere, Ukrainian producer Stanislav Tolkachev delivers his idiosyncratic style of techno as always on "Once A Cheater Always A Cheater" and obviously label chief Wunsch appears too, collaborating with the mighty Regis as The Rare Breed - who deliver the contorted fury of "Reason Doesn't Sleep".
