Review: Legendary emo indie outfit The Cure have played all over the world in their decorated careers but back in 1996 when they headed to Brazil, it was the first time they had been to the country since 1988. They were there for the 1996 edition of the Hollywood Rock Festival which they headlined in superb fashion and wowed their Latin American fans. Live Lullabies & Other Bedtime Stories is a special recording of that night that comes on nice yellow vinyl and features the likes of signature anthems like 'Boys Don't Cry,' 'Friday I'm In Love,' 'Just Like Heaven' and many more.

Review: Just when you thought you'd heard Robert Smith and The Cure every which way but bad, we discover more from their huge back catalogue. This time in the form of World War, a compilation of rare demos that takes its name for the band's seminal early single, which appears in a particular raw and unfettered, grinding version on this collection. A sound that defines the overall aesthetic. Rough and ready but packed full of energy, the huge landmark 'Boys Don't Cry' feels more intimate as a result, 'Fire In Cairo' arguably more punk, 'M' more New Romantic, and 'Heroin Face' less compromising than ever before. If all that sounds like bullshit talking, we implore you to take a listen and see what you think - the smart money is on us agreeing in the end.

Alternative rock and Goth legends The Cure were at an all-time high in popularity as they embarked on their 1993 tour across Europe. Enjoying the result of their most successful album Wish, the band was to take on their biggest world tour yet. For the previous two tours, there was no proper full recording of the band live by the group themselves. Robert Smith wanted to change that and a handful of shows were recorded to be edited together for the live albums Paris and Show. Paris shows the power of The Cure's new lineup which featured a new drummer, keyboard player and guitar player. Like most Cure concerts, the setlist is a varied mix of brand-new tracks at the time (Apart and A Letter to Elise) many classics (Figurehead, A Charlotte Sometimes and Shake Dog Shake) but then always a sprinkle of lesser-known ones like 'Dressing Up'. This edition is the 30th Anniversary release of the evergreen original.

Review: The Cure's live album 'Paris' catches the band in the summer of 1992. This tour came after a siesmic shift in the previously fairly static line up of the goth pop icons, with original frontman Robert Smith and long serving bassist Simon Gallup joined by drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O'Donnell and guitar player Perry Bamonte for the first time, all of whom remain part of their live ensemble 30 years later. The setlist starts with their evergreen opener 'Shake Dog Shake' but this selection double vinyl captures more deep cuts - 'The Figurehead', 'One Hundred Years' and 'Apart' as examples - than hits, although the dark pop of 'Close To Me' does make an appearance close to its end.

Review: A selection plucked from Robert Smith and co's 1984 Washington show, with a neat collection of tracks from what many would see as the band in their prime. The contrast between raw, speedy new wave anthems like 'Boy's Don't Cry' and '10:15 Saturday Night', the epic gothfest 'A Forest' and the cuter pop idiosycracities of 'The Caterpillar' show how quickly the Crawley gang evolved in their early days. Obviously, they had a long way to go after this, but many would say this is The Cure at their absolute finest.

Review: Much loved emo post-punk outfit The Cure not only released several superb albums but were also a brilliant band to catch live. Over their career, they played many a seminal live show for radio or TV broadcast and now the best of them has been picked apart and collated on this new five-CD box set. The Broadcast Collection spans 1979 to 1996 and includes all your favourites like 'Killing An Arab', 'Boys Don't Cry' and 'Just Like Heaven' (in fact more than one version of some of those make the cut) next to plenty of lesser-known but no less good jams.

Review: The Cure are one of those bands everyone should know, and do their best to try and see. With their roots in what was a nascent post punk sound, they quickly - like album two, quickly - turned to a darker, altogether weirder and artsier hybrid New Romantic sound before introducing clear pop sensibilities a little later. You can't help but feel they've carved out a completely unique place for themselves in the pantheons as a result. Of course, that's in retrospect and13 studio albums, 30 singles, and 30million unit sales later. But, as this collection of live recordings for broadcasting icon John Peel's BBC radio shows proves, even in their earliest incarnation there was something very different about Robert Smith and comrades. There's not a lot more that needs to be said, really. Perhaps aside from 'buy it'.

Review: Most of the many broadcast albums of The Cure have concentrated on their so-called classic period of the mid-80s, but there's much to be said for their later efforts, especially during the 90s when they were chucking out albums left, right and centre and were a lean, mean touring machine. This 10" only captures part of the inevitably epic Cure concert experience via six tracks, but it's a fine spread of different eras and styles, with 'A Letter To Elise' from 92's 'Wish', 'Lullaby from 89's 'Disintegration' as well as evergreen live fixtures like the trauma-filled 'A Night Like This' and 'Shake Dog Shake'.

Review: The Cure is surely everyone's favourite band of post-rock and hyper emo miserablists. Their dark but uplifting moods and joyful melancholy always strike a perfectly bittersweet note when paired with the upbeat guitar rhythms and their 1993 live album Show is as good as it gets. The tunes that mark the cut here were recorded over two nights at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan in the USA the previous year as part of their huge Wish tour. It features later career classics like 'Friday I'm In Love', 'Just Like Heaven' and 'In Between Days' as well as plenty of lesser-known album jams ('Lullaby', 'High', 'Cut' and more).

This 13 track collection sees the boys from Crawley delivering exquisite pop highlights from that album - see the delicate 'Catch', the synthed up 'Hot Hot Hot' and 'Just Like Heaven' - alongside darker moments from earlierr in their career like the haunting 'Shiver & Shake' and melancholic 83 synth workout 'The Walk'.

Review: Happy Man are not two words you would usually associate with The Cure frontman and emo poster boy Robert Smith, but this live album is named after their 1984 track 'Happy The Man', naturally enough included here. This selection was recorded while the group was on a third tour of the US having already made a big name for themselves off the back of their recently released 1984 studio record The Top. The fan based turned out (and then some) and got to hear classics such as 'Let's Go To Bed', 'Boys Don't Cry' and a live version of 'Killing An Arab', which closes out this set. A crucial one for diehard fans and curious listeners alike.

Review: This new CD captures a live recording of legendary post-punk band The Cure's first ever gig on foreign soil. It was on Sunday 29 July 1979 at the famous and still-there venue Melkweg in the capital of Amsterdam. It was a legendary show by all accounts and took in plenty of their big tunes of the time such as 'Seventeen Seconds', '10.15 Saturday Night' and 'Jumping Someone Else's Train.' There is a rawness to the recording that really takes you back to the gig and makes you feel like you are really there.

Review: The year of 1985 is the absolute highpoint of The Cure's long illustrious career - they'd spent two years enjoying the fruit of their first Top 10 single, 'The Love Cats' and hit an incredible purple patch with the Head On The Door album, out that year, which seemed to effortlessly move their sound into pop territory without spoiling their trademark gothic emotional intensity. Hugely adept at dominating large spaces with their large sound - the 12,000 seater Birmingham NEC in this case - this catches a choice selection of tracks from the usual epic set list, spanning pop monsters like 'In Between Days' and 'Close To Me', synthpop-tinged delights like 'Screw', 'The Walk' and 'Let's Go To Bed' and the utterly doom laden 'A Forest' and 'The Hanging Garden'. A reminder of why they were - and continue to be - one of the biggest live draws the world of alternative music has ever produced.

Review: Post-punk pioneers and drivers of the earthy gothic scene, The Cure is one of the UK's most seminal bands. They have a wealth of ever-green and classic hits which have a bittersweet sense of uplifting melancholy to them and never do they sound better than when live. Between the years of 1979 and 1981 they played no fewer than nine times for the BBC and this is a collection of some of the best of it. There are several highlights from various albums during that time and this marks the first vinyl release for some of these versions after various bootlegged CDs in the past.

Review: Those who've been with the seminal goth-inflected post-punk visionaries since the beginning are well aware that before the three-hour epic discography spanning opus-like performances, The Cure shows were once raw and fuzzed out displays of cathartic emotions and immense energy. 'Live At Carshalton Carnival' - a lesser-known affair taking place in the early summer months in the South London suburb ever since the 1970s, showcases the group in all of their youthful, sonically debauched exuberance. While cuts like 'Grinding Halt' and 'Foxy Lady' radiate with fuzzed out bedlam, seminal (soon to be) fan favourites such as 'Three Imaginary Boys' and 'Boys Don't Cry' hint at the decades-long tenure and influence that would transport these young hungry cureheads (it had to start somewhere) to post-punk/alt rock royalty. Come take a fly-on-the-wall earful of greatness in the making.

Review: The Cure's early shows were raucous affairs, with raw, primal energy bursting out of the band's amps. 'Live At Carshalton Carnival' - a lesser-cited shindig that has occurred in the early summer months in this South London suburb ever since the 70s - captures the band at the peak of their punkish phase. Here they tear through a set of fierce and uncompromising early songs, including 'Foxy Lady', 'Another Day' and 'Plastic Passion'. With the tracks lovingly restored for this release, the most adept of sleuths will also be pleased to find the original setlist posters for the gig, as well as notes of the three support acts accompanying them.

Review: In 1981 The Cure had just released Faith, and they took their ever-deepening well of gothic indie pop to Australia. This tape release captures their performance from an FM broadcast in Sydney that summer, and it's a perfect document of Robert Smith and co. at that raw stage of their development. Opening with Faith track 'The Holy Hour' and taking in other brilliant classics from the spikier Boys Don't Cry and Seventeen Seconds this is a must-grab for fans of the band, not least those who love their post-punk leaning emergence the most.

Review: There are so many pivotal albums in The Cure's imperious back catalogue, but Wish will always remain one which heralded the band's progression from indie heroes to universally adored treasures of British pop music. The gothic tendencies are absolutely still there in the moonlit charm of 'Open' et al, but the sound is direct and expansive, with plenty of space for monster hits like 'Friday I'm In Love'. The ability to let the light in ensured Robert Smith and co. could be popular as well as profound, and they've never looked back.

This deluxe 45 track edition - compiled by Robert Smith - features 24 previously unreleased tracks & 4 new to CD tracks across three discs. And that's not to mention their four tracks that appeared exclusively on the mail-order cassette 'Lost Wishes', released in 1993, which have never appeared on CD or digitally, the previously unreleased song 'A Wendy Band', a previously unheard mix of the epic fan favourite 'From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea', five rare 12" mixes, and an unheard live version of 'End' from Paris Bercy in October 1992.

Review: The Cure have a lot of iconic moments from throughout their career, starting with the angular goth rock of their early years right through to their long-standing position as headline treasures of British alternative music. Originally released in 1992, Wish marked their move towards a poppier sound, and 30 years on it still ranks as their most successful album to date. This reissue gives Wish the pomp and ceremony it deserves, letting perennial classics like 'Friday I'm In Love' shine anew for lifelong fans and newcomers alike.

Review: It was the album, or perhaps era, that nearly brought the whole thing crashing down around the members, threatening to cut short what has subsequently become one of the most longstanding, celebrated and influential British rock music stories at the fourth chapter - when there was clearly so much more left to write and read. LP four from The Cure is arguably up there with the darkest of hours, a brooding, claustrophobic gothic pop masterpiece that laid bare, and still does, the struggles of those involved, and ourselves. Fuelled by heavy drug use and with the underlying uncertainty that disbandment was a very real possibility as a result, with Robert Smith's plummeting mental health and in-fighting only adding to the troubles, nevertheless, Pornography is a powerhouse album which approaches stark and universally poignant themes without apology, helping generation after generation understand that somewhere someone gets it.

Review: Given The Cure's particularly brittle sound in their early years, it's an added joy to hear it compressed with a tape-borne level of saturation for this excellent collection of three radio broadcasts. Disc one is given over to a recording from Philipshalle, Dusseldorf in 1981, capturing the band during their seminal run of early, gothic new wave. Disc two comes a few years later at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, and you can already hear the evolution of the band while still very much ensconced in their funereal splendour and jangling guitar sound. For a greater leap still, head to disc three and the recording from Praca Da Apoteose, Rio De Janeiro in 1996, which was right around the time they released Wild Mood Swings, and marvel at the evolution of one of the finest bands of the era.

Review: To celebrate 40 years since its initial release, the Cure has decided to offer up a limited-edition, picture disc re-issue of their second album. Considered one of the now legendary band's most significant sets, Seventeen Seconds delivered a string of distinctive "gloom-scapes" - think low-slung post-punk bass and tight drums overlaid with glistening guitar motifs, occasional synthesizer sounds and Robert Smith's distinctive vocals - that fired the starting gun on what would become the goth-rock movement. The album proved popular at the time and provided the band with their first top 40 hit, 'A Forest'; all these years on it still sounds like the perfect distillation of the Cure's now trademark sound.

Review: Vinyl Lovers presents the reissue of 1982’s 'Pornography', still considered by many to be The Cure's best.
This album was the band's darkest album to date, cementing their role as beacons of the emergent gothic
rock genre, with the band sporting their signature red lipstick and big hair look for the first time during this tour.

Review: The undisputed leaders of the early gothic scene, and a seminal band that contributed to the rise of British post-punk, The Cure recorded their debut album, "Three Imaginary Boys", at London's Morgan Studios and released it on May 8, 1979. After touring for almost all of 1977, the band changed their name to The Cure and rearranged their line-up with the sacking of Porl Thompson, giving birth to an unusual power trio. This line-up lasted only for their first album, making it unique in its essentially minimal sound.
