Sussing (Miles remodel)
Jeidem Fall (Wolf Muller remix)
Vineland
Eisenbahnzunge
Review: Yet another killer lopsided transmission from Tolouse Low Trax and Karaoke Kalk HQ which comes with added spice in the shape of remixes from Modern Lover Miles Whittaker and Themes From Lost Cities don Wolf Muller. It's these refixes that take centre stage, with material from Tolouse Low Trax's 2012 album Jeidem Fall the focus of Whittaker and Muller's attention and the results are nothing less than excellent. Far removed from his work as part of Demdike Stare or Millie + Andrea, Miles Whittaker's take on "Sussing" is a stuttering, low tempo trawl through malfunctioning electronics, whilst Wolfy boy turns in a wonderfully tropical rendition of "Jedeim Fall". Not to be outdone, the clutch of new Tolouse Low Trax productions are just as compelling, with "Vineland" a fuzzy excursion through chugging electro and "Eisenbahnzunge" a superb piece of Deutsche Kosmische.

Review: Toulouse Low Trax has always skirted on the fringes of wider recognition compared to some of his Salon Des Amateurs counterparts (think Lena Wilikens, Wolf Muller and Vladimir Ivkovic), but his legacy to date plots a fascinating course through underground and experimental electronic music with a kosmische bent. This 2012 album on Karaoke Kalk has been highly prized since its initial run first sold out, and it's great to see it being made available again as more people get hip to the incredible body of work behind this maverick auteur. The mood across Jeidem Fall is consistently moody and provocative, capturing the essence of Muslimgauze but replacing the explicit ethnic motifs with a murky abstraction of the Fourth World aesthetic, all tumbling percussion and un-placeable instrumental motifs.

E-Sadam (7:39)
Marina Dub (6:02)
Boutique Beast (5:48)
Metal Tent (5:34)
Tazza (5:33)
Review: The vinyl has barely cooled on the second installment of Tolouse Low Trax's Decades series, and the producer has already readied a third and final installment. As with previous volumes, it's a rich and varied affair, with the Salon Des Amateurs resident variously turning his hand to mildly foreboding electronica (the ghostly tribal vocals and hip-hop techno electronic beats of "E-Sadam"), lo-fi electronic dub ("Marina Dub"), krautrock inspired hypnotism ("Boutique Beast"), industrial influenced murkiness ("Metal Tent Wicked"), and Kraftwerk style, proto-techno throb (the standout "Tazza"). In other words, it's business as usual from one of electronic music's most talented producers.

Calirough (5:48)
Hyroglyph (9:07)
Wooden Words (6:45)
Monia (8:22)
Review: Hot on the heels of Tolouse Low Trax's first outing on celebrated Parisian label Antinote comes the follow-up Deacdes 2/3. The producer's distinctive musical voice - wayward, dystopian, and fearlessly experimental - seems particularly fitting given recent political events. Opener "Calirough", all sustained horror chords, distorted percussion and ghostly samples, is particularly potent, though the warped, metallic chug of "Hiroglyph" is not far behind. He returns to 4/4 pastures with the post-truth throb of "Wooden Words", before imagining a bleak future on the intense hum of "Monia", a typically dark and crunchy workout that's as chilling as a Donald Trump presidency.

Voiski - "Time As A River" (5:52)
Randomer - "Foghorn" (5:59)
Tolouse Low Trax - "Crash" (6:25)
Gilb'r - "The Triangle" (5:52)
Review: Dekmantel's 10th anniversary series of 12" singles continues to deliver far more hits than misses. Happily, there are plenty more on this seventh volume. Chief amongst them is Randomer's brilliant "Foghorn", a thrillingly trippy and floor-friendly fusion of snappy, lapsed techno breakbeats, horror movie chords and clandestine electronics. That's not to say there aren't fine moments elsewhere, of course. Props to Versatile Records man Gilb'r for continuing his obsession with humid rainforest textures, trippy chords and wonky African percussion on "The Triangle", and to Tolouse Low Trax for the skewed Balearic synth-pop shuffle that is "Crash". Vosiki's clattering but poignant analogue opener "Time As A River" is pretty tasty, too.
