  1. Out Of Control (Daniel Wang & Massimiliano Pagliara TGF vocal mix)
  2. Out Of Control (Daniel Wang & Massimiliano Pagliara TGF acid dub)
  3. Thing Called Love (feat Haddaway - Legowelt special remix dub)
Review: The always on point Permanent Vacation return to last year's excellent self titled album from Wolfram with this limited edition clear 12" for the discotheques. On the A Side Danny Wang and Massimiliano Pagliara team up to remix "Out Of Control", the collaboration with Hi NRG legend Paul Parker, offering both a vocal mix for those "who enjoy dancing on a fat funky masculine disco groove" and an acid dub for the "abstract" DJs. On the flip Permanent Vacation have a real treat in the shape of a special dub version of Legowelt's treatment of the Haddaway featuring "Thing Called Love" which everyone from Jackmaster to Weatherall & Smagghe is a fan of.

  1. Can't Remember
  2. Talking To You (feat Andrew Butler)
  3. Talking To You (feat Andrew Butler - dub)
Review: One-time Permanent Vacation regular Wolfram Eckert pitches up on DFA with "Can't Remember", a throbbing chunk of skewed electro-house with distinct post-punk and techno influences. It's as analogue-heavy as his previous productions, but eschews his usual tongue-in-cheek take on Italo and electronic disco in favour of an altogether heavier sound. Flip for "Talking To You", a stripped back and murky chunk of analogue house featuring Hercules & Love Affair man Andrew Butler. Arguably, it's closer to Butler's wonky, revivalist take on house than Wolfram's usual output, but that's no bad thing. There's an even more off-kilter feel about the accompanying Dub, which throbs, pulses and surges with a metronomic quality whilst doffing a cap to the dubbed-out production style of late '80s New York house.

  1. Talking To You (feat Andrew Butler - club mix)
  2. Can't Remember (Jacques Renault & Mark Verbos remix)
  3. Can't Remember (Secret Circuit remix)
Review: Given the stylish, floor-friendly nature of his previous productions on Creme Organization and Permanent Vacation, it was probably only a matter of time before electronic disco maverick Wolfram Eckert turned up on DFA. Unsurprisingly, there's a greater intensity and more gnarled, twisted feel about "Talking To You (Club Mix)", a collaboration with Hercules & Love Affair's Andy Butler that recasts Wolfram's usual eccentric Italo as throbbing, late night house. The accompanying remixes are a delight, too, with Jacques Renault and Mark Verbos' acid-tinged remake of "Can't Remember" just edging out Secret Circuit's surprisingly heavy - but still reliably baggy - rework of the same track in the "highlight" stakes.

Review: With his poodle perm, glam rock dress and cheap synthesizer fixation, Wolfram Eckert certainly looks a bit of a character. Before putting together this debut album, he'd released very few records though he was the knob-twiddling synth genius behind Sally Shapiro's shimmering Euro pop excursions. Shapiro herself appears here, alongside a stellar list of collaborators - Hercules & Love Affair, Legowelt, Haddaway (yes that Haddaway!), Sebastian, Patrick Pulsinger and Paul Parker all of whom seem keen to revel in Eckert's distinctive, pan European disco sound. It makes for a decent if overtly camp set a fun but stylized nu-disco era fusion of wobbly Italo disco, Cowley-esque Hi-NRG, Moroder-ish stomp and cheery European pop.

Review: We've long thought that Austrian artist Wolfram Eckert is destined for greatness - or, to be more specific, crossover success - but to date his authentically produced but often tongue-in-cheek take on Euro-pop has yet to catch on with the public. "Amadeus", his long awaited second album, has all the ingredients to be a massive hit. Rich in bold synthesizer motifs, knowing nods to classic new wave and Euro-disco hits, atmospheric electronics, on-point grooves (we can hear nods to Italo-disco, Hi-NRG, acid house and the Pet Shop Boys) and high profile collaborations (Egyptian Lover, Haddaway, Peaches and, bizarrely, Pamela Anderson all appear), it's an album that brilliantly combines a mature synthesizer sound with the catchy hooks and giddy rush of the best pop music.

Review: Viennese producer Wolfram returns, outside of his usual labels like DFA and Permanent Vacation - this time on Munich oddball house imprint Public Possession. His new jam "Automatic Dub" is pure Italo disco heaven, with soaring arpeggios, glistening analogue strings and rusty drum computers galore - calling to mind legends like Gino Soccio and Bobby Orlando. Turns out it's actually based on Dee D. Jackson's "Automatic Lover" from 1978 - a Kristian Schultze production. There's a couple of kick ass remixes featured too: The Samo DJ Automatic Remix sees the Born Free boss take it down a dirty and heady acidified route, filled with some gnarly tape delay shenanigans.

Review: As head of the Diskokaine imprint, Wolfram Eckert has graced the public with the delightful sounds of Sally Shapiro as well as maintaining a wonderfully infuriating website - you need to check this out! In a production career that has seen the Swede trade under a surfeit of aliases for labels such as Creme, Gomma and IDJ Gigolos, Eckert has focused on the Wolfram name to deliver a stellar album forthcoming on Permanent Vacation. Entitled Marflow, the album features a stellar cast of guests including Legowelt, Shapiro, House of House, disco legend Paul Parker and mid nineties one hit wonder Haddaway. Permanent Vacation indulge in some appetite whetting here with another collaborative effort between Wolfram and Andy and Kim Ann of Hercules and Love Affair, notable for some fine remixes from fellow Swedish icons Tiedye and Axel Boman, with the former's balearic rock cover version most ingenious.
